Sorry pal. I will not take responsibility for things that happened generations ago. No one is still alive from that period.

Holocaust survivors are still around. The latest round of European ethnic cleansing was very recent.

Of course you won’t take reponsibility. But you expect me to take it for something that happened generations ago? You’re a tool Zap.

Isn’t Serbia part of Europe? Was that generations ago?
School of the Americas wasn’t generations ago either.

Arming teachers is an absolutely moronic idea.

First off, would all teachers need to be licensed to carry? We need licenses to teach, to perform CPR, etc…so I don’t think the states would just hand us weapons. Schools barely have money for books, let alone sending every teacher (and substitute) to gun school.

Second: where would the gun be? I would assume it would be under lock and key. In an emergency, would it be accessible? I doubt it.

Third: if the weapon were NOT under lock and key, how long until one of the little numbnuts stole it and did something stupid with it? I’m not even raising the possibility of the gun being used to commit a crime, just something stupid. (Teens never do anything dumb for no reason whatsoever, right?)

Bad idea all around. Most schools around me have armed security guards. Let’s leave the shooting to the profesionals.

Of course it is a stupid idea. Wreckless had it.
I didn’t, some Republican moran did.

Well, for one thing you can send your kids to school without any fear that they’re gonna get shot by some moron. That’s a freedom.

Wreckless, you don’t understand the true value of guns, especially handguns.

When populations were totally defenseless, it was easy to rule them. (This is why the Nazis outlawed guns immediately upon taking power.) It was only with the invention of easily used weaponry that individuals could claim their share of freedom. The feudal lord couldn’t dominate them as easily. Populations could and did fight back.

Why do you think women, for ex, got the right to vote? Because men felt generous? Ha! Women could now exercise power if they so chose. They weren’t necessarily dominated by men’s superior physical strength.

So, while I think arming teachers is a bad idea, I also think America is the most free country on earth because of the handgun. Rebellion is just one trigger away, and the government knows it. Handguns are liberating.

Of course, guns can be abused, something I know you associate with guns. That’s the price of freedom.

BTW: I posted w/o insulting you! Like that’ll ever happen again!

You have used that word about 100 times. I still don’t know what a moran is.

It’s from this famous photo depicting the wonderful irony of redneckism I guess.

Wreckless appears smarter in that picture than he does in his posts.

Excellent point. Money is better spent on the metal detectors and extra security my school has than on training teachers to shoot guns.

Jesus fucking Christ, would you two stop using this thread to rag on each other!!! Not only is it fucking annoying, it’s ruining a perfectly functional conversation/debate about guns and the useless morons in some redneck state who want to arm teachers. It’s like dealing with my fucking 9th graders during the day - Completely immature and functionless!!!

Is it your position that women got the right to vote by fighting in the street, guns blazing and bullets flying?

I must have missed that movie.

Also, do you think that if the president of the US (for the sake of argument let’s agree on Hilary) decided that she wanted to use the military against her own people, that you would fight with light firearms against tanks, jets and helicopters.

See, no insults either.
