Let's Answer Everyone's Burning Questions

I heard a guy say to take electrolytes with dry carbohydrates so they woyld absorb better and wouldn’t be sloshing around in your stomach.

Sadly, its buried somewhere is this long, long video.

Man.. I must be getting old. I linked burien_top_team’s post not Amazon..

I had anxiety over asking, thinking it was probably in your post but I was too oblivious to find it (because old). “Have you checked to see if it’s plugged in, ma’am?”

Not sure about you, but I’ve almost been on Tnation longer than I haven’t.:flushed_face: (first account was from ‘08, but forgot info).

It’s been since '99 for me. I’m 52, so, yeah, half my life.

2006 for me. Crazy.

Somewhere around ‘04 or ‘05.

Why are pediatricians so obsessed with miralax? I must have been through 10 by now and when I explain my sons bathroom issues they recommend miralax, then do a deer in the headlights when I tell them he’s already taking it, then they just say to increase the dose.

Because they’re generalists, and have only so many tricks in their bags. I know your son is extremely complex, and I imagine the deer in the headlights look has to do with their own feelings of incompetence. Are there any pediatric gastroenterologists? I’m sure there are one or two, but not 15 minutes from home.

This is me projecting - I’m a small town/rural psychotherapist with limited options for referral. Your eating disorder is deadly? Welp, let me do my best! I did have an overview in grad school and that one 6 hour continuing ed course and I do my best to read and read and read about every goddamn thing. Agoraphobia, which is best served by intensive treatment outside the office? Welp, you’ve got me, and I know exposure is the treatment but am unfortunately too busy with all the other pressing needs of the community to do more than urge you to expose yourself.

I can handle garden variety eating d/o, mild agoraphobia, etc, but there’s a point at which a specialist is needed, but we don’t have one. My patients can’t reasonably go back and forth to Boston for weekly therapy, so they get me.

So that’s what I imagine your ped is dealing with. I can say that assuming he or she is a decent person, they ache for you as they suggest upping the dose of unhelpful OTC medication.

It’s not just pediatricians. I think they all bought stock in the company so they prescribe it for EVERYBODY. Broke leg? Miralax! COPD? Miralax! Lung transplant? Miralax! Hip replacement? Miralax!

urge you to expose yourself.

Well now my agoraphobia just became validated since I’m locked in a 8x8 cell!

And no one is trying to make you face the grocery store, so your panic symptoms are resolved. See how I cure people?
