On a side note, why is it the three men accused of murder look exactly how you would have expected them to look? I’m not talking simply the haircuts and how they dress but that they all look weak.
The local police department has been sucked into the vortex of stupid as well and seems like it should be. I’m on my cell and can’t post links, but the department has a history of corruption and incompetence , which is being brought to light and will hopefully be sorted out.
For example, allegedly a police officer told a neighbor who’d had stuff stolen that he should call the elder McMichael for help because he was retired law enforcement. Which is epic level stupid and indicative of larger problems in that department.
As a broader lesson for the rest of us, don’t take advice from police officers about self defense law. However well intentioned, the training they receive is minimal, and applies to law enforcement, not civilians. It’s not on the level of shit you hear at a gun store, but it’s pretty bad.
Agreed. I have deep respect for LEOs, but some of them are woefully ignorant on the law, especially at the patrol, non-detective level. If you want to know about the law of self defense in your jurisdiction, talk to a good criminal defense lawyer.
I’ve read three of this man’s books and many of his blog posts and articles, but I never knew he was such a good speaker. I’m only 30 minutes in but this is a fantastic watch if you are interested in lethal force law.
Most of my understanding on this subject began with this man’s writings.
Damn. That man is a tower of good sense and knowledge. I got so much out of that video.
This is the best place l could find to ask.
After watching the hooligan whacking the arresting cops with pipe (stick or whatever) last week (in NYC?).
When does lethal force come into play as an LEO?
It seems that standing above someone’s blindside and repeatedly trying to bash their head in with a stick, is grounds for lethality.
Legally 3 key elements need to be met before using lethal force :

another definition:
Ability: Does the person have the actual physical means to seriously injure or kill me? This could include possession of weapons, size and strength of the attacker, known or apparent skills possessed by the attacker, or number of attackers.
Opportunity: Is the person close enough or otherwise in a position to utilize any such abilities? What is the distance involved and are there barriers or other impediments that would make it difficult for him to harm or kill me? Could I have left the scene immediately and eliminated that opportunity?
Intent: Is the person manifesting a reasonably obvious desire to harm or kill me, or otherwise given me reason to believe that to be true?
The last three are general guidelines for civilian and LEO’s.
It would be in any other time but the present. If you are working the street in uniform, you no longer have the option to defend yourself without enduring possible criminal charges, lawsuits, public anger, racism, democratic/ socialist death chants, racist prosecutors ( especially, if you are white) etc.
The NYC Police Lieutenant was white, does anyone actually believe if he defended himself from being beaten with a stick/ pipe with deadly force, he would not be in jail for murder?
There is the law and then there is the present. It does matter what race you are, if you wear the uniform, the public will try and hang you on social media. It doesn’t matter whether you are justified to use deadly force , you life is worth nothing compared to the domestic terrorists.
Any cop who works the street now knows that they have no backing or support, so, like when I was in a similar situation, I knew that if I used deadly force, no matter what reason, I would be fucked.
I would suggest anyone who carries a gun to read this:
