Eyes close together?? Ha. Yes sir. I’ve known him for years. He left SWAT before I came down. He’s an outstanding policeman.
Haha can’t say I ever noticed the eyes, but now that ya mention it…
Small world that you know my cousin. Great guy, nothing but respect for the man. Few years older than I, always looked up to him as a kid. Glad to hear I’m not the only one with a high opinion of him
Im a bit older than him. But yea… Good dude. Hard worker. We get along really well. Both Marines. I was active duty before the Department. You live in Stl ?
Used to live near there, half hour drive into the Illinois side of the river. Navy has me stationed out of San Diego now, spent a few years in Maryland before that. Still head back to visit family and all
Lucky you. I’m still here. Total cesspool. My gf is from Temecula. I miss San Diego. Good luck in the Navy btw. Military is a good time… Sometimes
Can’t say I miss st.louis. Love Cardinals baseball and Budweiser, but that’s about all the city has to offer. Still new to San Diego, definitely enjoying the area so far.
Navy is treating me well so far, considering making a career out of it. Like the job, but may be tough when the wife and I go for kids. Been talking around with some FBI guys, might try my hand at that next. Who knows, navy owns my souls for 4 more years anyway, so that’s a problem for future me to figure out.
Military life isn’t easy especially if starting a family. What’s your m.o.s.? From Stl ?
Nuclear Surface Warfare Officer.
Kansas, st.louis, South Carolina, Georgia, hell most of the south. Moved around a lot growing up, but spent a lot of time around the st.louis metro East area
Damn. That’s high speed. I was infantry and a marksmanship instructor
Im from St Charles but lived in Stl for over a decade.
Not entirely sure if your being sarcastic, or just have no idea how boring my job is haha. I’m mainly an engineering plant manager/ship driver. Very low speed compared to anything combat arms
I love St.charles, used to go visit with my wife all the time
I don’t do sarcasm. Takes no talent. Ha.
I grew up in old town St Charles. Great community
I just thought to sort of repost, I had posted a news story with incident video the other year and can’t remember where that post was. I actually think it not out of place here.
Essentially the whole thing ended up in court, and the defendants are saying so far that so and so willingly got into an altercation. Thus it is tough tits to him if he is injured out of it.
I suppose you can’t proof everyone in security to the utmost such that even bad actors they run across can’t be hurt under any circumstances, they would be unable to do their jobs properly.
Honestly, I have been kicked out of a club once, and I just accepted the gentle way it was said to me with the understanding that the official stance was that I was to leave. Nothing ever came of it.
That confused the hell out of me. The guy who got knocked out didn’t appear to be the aggressive one. It looked like he was helping to pull the aggressive asshole out, then was just standing there talking. He may have been up to no good inside the pub, but that looks terrible for the bouncers.
Not how I would have handled things, but I wasn’t there. A few thoughts and observations…
We don’t know what happened inside. Perhaps the guy who got decked was issuing threats.
The guy who got decked had a grip on the bouncer’s arm. Why?
It’s certainly a bad look for the bouncer, but I could see it as a reasonable response if and only if the bouncer had a reasonable fear that he was about to be assaulted. What was he after when he grabbed the bouncers arm?
In similar situations I’ve never tolerated another person having grips on me. Strip the grip immediately, make space and be clear that you don’t want to be touched.
If the person tries to grab you after you strip the grip and clearly warn them, well, it’s on.
Again I wasn’t there, but a knockout punch is not and has never been high on my list of options for controlling violent drunks.
The reason why is clear in this video.
Black guy (who apparently liked to jog) goes for a run. A white father/son duo see him running in the street past their house and think he looks like a robbery suspect from the other night. The father/son grab a shotgun, and a handgun, hop in a pickup truck (one in the drivers seat, the other in the bed) and drive after him. The father/son are yelling “Stop, stop we want to talk to you”… while trying to cut him off and holding a shotgun. Black guy turns around and jogs the other way. the father/son cut him off in the pickup again, with the son holding the shotgun hopping out. The black guy tries to run around the truck, gets confronted by the son holding a shotgun, a struggle ensues and the black guy gets shot twice and dies.
After first claiming self defense, the son’s lawyer is claiming protection under a Citizens Arrest statute.
If you’re the black guy just out for a jog in this situation, what the hell can you do? By all appearances, this looked like a textbook lynching to him- Out of the blue two white guys chasing you down in pickup truck pointing a shotgun at you screaming “we just want to talk”. No way you think “yeah, they just want to talk. this will end peacefully if i just have a chat with them”.
Why the hell didnt the father/son just call the cops? But also, i think a hefty dose of self awareness in this situation would have done the duo well.
No consolation at this point, but it looks like that to me too.
Very few people that only want to talk show up with guns.
He couldn’t use self-defense because he was already breaking the law. The dead guy, had he lived, could have claimed it.
Pretty much just run for your life while calling 911 on your phone, if you have it. I guess you could run to a house and ask for help but you might get shot by the home owner unless he knows you.
They have low IQs, are racists, have some wannabe soldier or cop fantasies, are scumbags, take your pick. Maybe they are all of those things.
If you run, you had better run off the road, and now youre a black guy running through backyards in a Georgia neighborhood that was recently burglarized by a black man.
If you run on the road, you are no match for the father/son duo in a pickup truck with guns. They had already cut him off once, forcing him to run back the other way, and now they had jumped out of the truck holding a shotgun.
What adds to the unfairness, is that the father/son duo were never arrested, and no charges have been filed. This happened first week of February. And they are only now getting around to investigating. CV delays be damned, the criminal justice system was fully open for weeks prior to the shutdown and not a thing happened to the father/son duo other than having their statement taken.
If you’re the black guy just out for a jog in this situation, what the hell can you do?
From the video it seems he may have chosen to fight for his life.

Let’s stick to facts and reasoned discussion in this thread please. I don’t see the purpose of mind-reading the intentions and motivations of others, absent any clear supporting facts.
My smell test agrees that this is a lynching, but there is only so much we can see on the video. I get that people want immediate arrests but I think it is important to build a strong case and get justice in the end.
I cannot fathom any scenario where they do not get prosecuted for murder, unless there are more pertinent facts not presently known. An unarmed man is not a threat to two men armed with guns in a vehicle who are chasing him down with guns drawn to confront him. That’s not how self defense works in any US jurisdiction.
I’m sure comparisons to the Zimmerman trial will be inevitable, but Zimmerman wasn’t chasing Martin down with a drawn gun. Martin assaulted Zimmerman. The gun didn’t come into play until Zimmerman was losing a fight from the bottom of the mount. Whether you agree with that ruling or not, the facts seem quite different to me.
