Lesnars 'Miracle' Recovery

This is bullshit. I seriously doubt he was ever even sick and this whole thing was fabricated to enhance the legend of the “indestructable super Brock”. It also fucks Carwin out of his title shot. Carwin now fights Mir and I’m not sure he’ll win that. I think the UFC was scared Lesnar loses to Carwin so they make up this elaborate hoax and fuck Carwin out of his shot to set-up the huge pay-per view draw that will be “Brock vs Mir 3: Bad Blood”. I hope Carwin pulls it out against Mir and wipes the floor with Lesnar.

uh, unless you’ve got evidence to the contrary, you’re just tossing about conjecture and accusations about a trying personal situation

I didn’t say “here’s the facts, but I have no proof”, I said I think it’s bullshit and doubt the legitimacy of the situation. If this doesn’t seem fishy to you then something’s wrong.

A little odd maybe, but im not going to be casting aspersions about the legitimacy of someone’s illness without proof

The whole situation IS strange, but I guesss I’m rather gullible and happy or Lesnar and the MMA community.

I think I even predicted in this Forum the diagnosis meant a sure “goodbye Lesnar” to me.

Strange, but, hooray, Lesnar’s gonna get crushed!

That’s funny, 'cause I predicted that Lesnar would somehow turn out 100% ok and the UFC would spin the “Life threatening illnesses can’t even keep this juggernaut down!!!” hype to a wholenew level.

His story made zero sense, diverticulitis doesn’t just disappear. And he was living with the disease but never got it treated until he got really sick. He was in Canada hunting went to the doctor they couldn’t find anything he goes back to the US they find out what it is he then goes to the Mayo clinic and it magically disappeared BS.

Glad dude is healthy, and would not want him Ill
… but I have to agree reading other stories/interviews the whole thing is a half cooked debacle.
What ever his situation is or wasnt- its a mishmash in the press.

I’m pretty sure diverticulitis DOES respond to antibiotic tx and dietary changes(resting the gut). I see it treated that way in the ED often. Surgery (especially THIS type) should be avoided if at all possible, due to the high risk of complications and quality of life changing aspects of it, and if he was going to make up an illness to get out of a fight, choosing such an exotic and strange one (for his age) does not make sense. Most people do not even know what diverticulitis is.

DIVERTICULUM, little pockets/pouches that form in the colon/and intestinal tract do not “just disappear” diverticulitis, an infection/inflammation of the diverticulum can be treated with abx, rest, diet…

having abscesses removed by needle aspiration in the peritoneal cavity secondary to small perforations in the bowl is not unheard of either.

So is the most common cause of this in younger people related to “high protein” diets without enough fiber to balance out???

there is some literature that suggest that a diet low in fiber can contribute to diverticulosis. it just is NOT seen in young people that often. when a young guy comes into the ED c/o abdominal pain, fever, weight loss, ect, one of the last things we are thinking is diverticulitis. so i am not surprised that it was misdiagnosed for some time.

My Dad had diverticulitis and I can tell you from personal observation that this illness can kick your ass. He lost almost 30 pounds and was down for several weeks. In my fathers case they didn’t diagnose it properly to begin with (similar to Lesnar I think). The symptoms can look like many other diseases that are even more serious.

I’m glad that Lesnar is feeling better. I can well imagine the physical pain that he went through and probably plenty of emotional pain thinking that he may have had something much worse.

I love how people question everything in today’s society.

Why would he lie about something like this? It really makes no sense at all.

A man has a right to privacy and GI issues, as Heavythrower stated, can be tough to properly diagnose. I’ve personally dealt with GI issues for 2 years and it seriously took a year before I was properly diagnosed.

I can sympathize with what Brock went through. Obviously, I wasn’t in as bad of shape as he was, but still, it’s not anything you want to be dealing with.

Glad he is recovered and can resume his career.

My dad has had diverticulitis as well he had a few surgeries, etc.
But he is also pushing 75… and never ate well-and sort of frail all his life.

the reason this whole thins sounds strange is well brock himself.
Im glad his health is returning. I dont wish him or anyone for the most part to be ill.

However the more you read about this story the more holes in the swiss cheese appear.

x2

My friend had/has the same thing and it took them a couple months just to figure out what it was…meanwhile he lost forty pounds, was in blinding abdominal pain and had to take a half-dozen trips to the emergency room. Only now is he finally getting the treatment he needs.

I don’t know much about the condition itself, but based on the little I DO know, diverticulitis arising over a period of time due to diet/medical issues (he has a shitty diet and he caught H1N1 to boot) and then suddenly flaring up is eminently plausible. Nor am I surprised that it was misdiagnosed, based on what my friend went through. (Can’t feel too bad for him; lucky bastard will have FIVE MONTHS of paid leave before it’s time to come back in March).

That doesn’t mean it’s not bullshit. At the very least Dana is going to leverage this to sell more pay-per-views, just like he always does.

Fuck em, he is an ignorant right wing bigot

Irrelevant. I think he’s an asshole, but that’s irrelevant. Let the fists do the talking in the octagon, and let the 1st amendment (and God if there is one) deal with political views, however revolting they might be.

Besides, where do you get that he’s a bigot?

That’s jumping to conclusions, not to mention a lack of compassion.
