I’ve always known about them but didn’t know how awesome they are! Possible they cheapest source of protein on earth.
1 cup of dried lentils (200g) has 50g of protein, 120g of carbs (60g is fibre, 2g sugars).
I can buy a kilo for $2 here in Egypt.
I whip it up in a soup.
1 cup of lentils
3 or 4 cups of water
Chicken stock cube
half a diced onion
Salt
pepper
Worcester sauce
chilli
paprika
Add 2/3 cloves to the pot this helps with the farts.

Thats pretty good, Still the lentils have more bang for the Buk so to say.
Pretty much same content as chicken breast, dnt get me wrong i love chicken, but a bit soup as a starter is a good cheap shot of protein. In fact i had with omlette and chicken today!
I will also mention that Braggs Liquid Amino’s goes great with any plant-based starches / protein sources for flavoring.
Also, Lentils are a primo source of Molybedenum. While it is not fully understood, it is an essential element in the human diet and supports the body’s natural detoxification process. It is just one more thing that people are potentially deficient in – which can be remedied by eating Lentils woot!

Are lentils a complete protein?[/quote]
It looks like Lentils contain all of the essential amino acids, except that there is a very small amount of methionine.
Methionine is important in metabolic processes and supports methyl related functions in the body. In order to recycle the pro-inflammatory homocysteine, methionine plays a very important role in that process.
Anyway, methionine is plentiful in meats and fish so most people are fine.

I was thinking the same. I think they would make a good addition to a meal with meat, but not as being a sole protein source. That’s kind of like trying to make quinoa your sole protein source of a meal. Though quinoa is a complete protein.
