I understand your desire to change body types, i’ve done so also in the past, but remember it’s only humanly possible to add about 2 pounds of muscle a month under optimal conditions, the rest is fat, and if you add too much fat you’ll have to diet down later. When you diet down you’ll lose some muscle. There’s science at work here brah, don’t try to gain to fast unless you’re looking to be a skinny fat guy.[/quote]
This guy has been trolling the forums/training logs. don’t listen to him. If your strength is going up, your muscle is too. If your diet is keyed in, you’re doing the best you can, and that’s all you can do. Keep it up.
Thanks guys, I just responded based on what I know to be true. I was using his “2 lbs” to illustrate my point. I know I’ve more than likely gained more than that 2lbs but the fact is… unless anyone gets 100% accurate bf% tests then noone knows how much I gained of that 10lbs. Noone like that will stop me from doing what I’m doing. I’m making what I see to be progress… who dares tell me to stop what i’m thinking/doing because it doesn’t work. I say bullllllshiiiiitttt haha.
You can’t argue with results and I’m getting results.
I never said he wasn’t doing a good thing in his particular situation, you all jump to conclusions so much it’s rediculous. I’m sorry, i thought people came on this site for advice and comments, my bad.
Anyway his situation may be different but for most people eating mcdonald’s to gain 10 pounds in a month would be a mistake. BUT, it works for him, so great. I’m a full supporter of bulking, i owe all my gains to it (as a lot of us do). It is the fastest way to gain muscle. I never said it was a bad thing. Consistancy is everything and he’s being consistant, and he’s getting his reward and will continue to. As for the strength gains, that’s bang on what I call progress, that’s always a good thing. So if it works, it works. Good stuff bro, keep it up.

#1 you called me Brah earlier… don’t do that… ever. #2 if you took the time to read my entire log instead of focusing on what I ate one day out of it all you’d realize that I’m eating to gain weight period. Since I’m pretty consistent in my workouts I know I’ll gain muscle and with my shitty diet on certain days I know I’ll gain fat. I never made any issue about it or whined about “whaaaaaa I’ve got love handles now”. I know I’ll get fat, I welcome it. It’s better than being 160lbs and “ripped” thinking I’m tough shit cuz I can see my six pack. Sorry but “Fight Club” physique is not for me.
I did come on this website for advice, critiques, and comments but you making a blanket statement about “science proves this and that” assuming I don’t know how to read articles (like i’ve done for the past several years).
You didn’t critique anything… you came on here and decided to tell me that it’s “only humanly possibly to gain xxxx” I know several people personally that would prove you wrong. Not to mention the fact that if I just so happened to gain 2.1 lbs of muscle in a month I’d blow your little 2lb science theory out of the water.
I welcome advice, correction, I welcome sound and seasoned advice. If you have none then shut the hell up and move on.
yeah i’ve seen both of those logs… I think I’m going to be a lot closer to Austin than Artem. As I started skinny and workout consistently and I’m not necessarily weak, just weak on a few lifts here and there. Only time will tell. Thanks for stickin with me on this Gmoore.
Realizing my stupidity I have started to take Creatine… should have from the beginning but I wanted to prove to myself that I could keep consistent in my workouts first. Not gonna do any cycles just 5mg a day. In the mornings on my non-workouts and right after my workouts on those days.
Whole workout felt pretty “on”. Felt challenged, I think I picked the perfect time for me to reset. We’ll see how my next workout is in 3 days… 2 days off of working out after my first reset should do me some good!
Drank a 1/4 gallon whole milk with the workout. 5 weeks of SS done!
Well lets see if you paid attention… cuz I accidentally went up to 225lbs on teh squat when it was supposed to be 205 (I was in a rush and just didn’t do the math, 4 45lbs does not 205 make!)
I turned my workout into a rush job because I have to shower and go to work now… I did all but my last warm up sets across the board… I.E. 3 warmup sets per exercises in a row… like squat 45x2x5 then did mil press 45x2x5 etc. Turn 1 hour 15 mins into rougly 45 mins. I didn’t want to rush but had no choice as I woke up late etc.
Workout was good I was wondering why the squats felt heavy then as I was taking off the weight I did one of those headslap movements… ugh. Til next time! Oh and I’m gonna drop down to 210 for squats NEXT time to get back in order!
Not for nothing but…
Your only doing 5 reps and not maxing out. What is the point of doing weight your comfortable pressing more the 5 times. For instance why bench 155 5x5x5, clearly you can push it 5 times without too much struggle if it is for 3 sets in a row. Why not push yourself? Your lifting stats (no offense) are pretty pathetic, as well as your workouts are very pedestrian for lack of a better word.
Diet, and actually pushing your body to its limits will make your body change. Are you ONLY doing the excercises listed or more on the given day, please say more or this is getting to be really ugly…
Sorry for the reality check…but someone needed to say something.

Pretty pathetic… accurate description of your response. I am a beginner. I have less than 6 months experience under the bar and if you even took the time to read my posts you’d know what has been going on here. I am pushing myself, I reset 1 time already after some major progress. Your insults aren’t going to slow me down and for the last time to all the ill-informed haters… I’m making gains, I’m sticking to a program, It’s called “Starting Strength” look it up retard. Enough of this troll.

He is pushing himself.
Yes, the workouts are “pedestrian.” Simple is what works. I, and many many others (including people I’ve personally trained), got the bulk of my strength following a program very similar to what he is doing.
How about you post some pictures, video, and stats (weights lifted, years training, etc.), so we have a better idea of where you’re coming from?
(Edit: Nevermind. You’re 180# after training for 3 years and taking steroids. 'nuff said.)
Edit: 4 yrs 185 thank you very much (I’m 5’8 leaner and heavier then the op)…Sorry for not updating my prof
While you may disagree with my steroid use (a whopping one cycle, working on number 2),
that is irrelevant to this thread.
I can honestly say I never trained in such a weak manner as th OP. Learn to push yourself and receive greater gains. I’m not trying to knock the OP down, and I apologize for coming across that way. But realize there is a reason you look as you do, and too achieve one must work hard and at capacity…not what you currently doing
Gooch you personal train and have 2.5 yrs experience (profile stalking like you). A little chubby there huh buddy?

Last Night I weighed 188lbs after 5 1/2 weaks of training on NO cycles and never will cycle. rage much? “If they hate then let them hate and watch the money pile up” I’ll keep making gains while your balls keep shrinkin man. Using cycles at sub 200… man you must be close to your genetic limit. Must be a shame.
Not that I have to explain myself to you but… my strength has gone up, my bodyweight has gone up, my lifting weight has gone up, my motivation is through the roof thanks to 185 cycling guys like you… and what I’m doing is working. I don’t have resort to the “enzyte of the bodybuilding world” to achieve gains, 4 years and 1 cycle and STILL only 185. holy hell… ouch. that sucks man. hard. If you wanna hate do it somewhere else this is my log, not your soap box. hahaha man I’m done with this troll
GTFO.
Dude your my weight, chubby with 12 inch (flexed arms) and weight 188…similiar on the scale, different in real life. So don’t GTFO, but Get the fuck to a gym and stop eating crap. 36 inch waist…mines 29. ; )
Who’s the hater…
P.S. Gooch your lifting stats (besides bench) are f’n solid, even at your weight

Btw, thanks man you didn’t have to say anything but I appreciate it. I know what I’m doing he can’t say anything to stop me or reconsider my path. I’ll get there running on the fuel of these flamers.
Yes, because I lift weights 3x a week and do a “pedestrian” workout… i.e. Starting Strength a program used by so many as a stepping stone to bigger and better things… according you, because of this fact, I apparently like to take it up the rear. Your logic is uncannily sound and completely unflawed. How do you do it? I guess that 1 cycle shrunk more than just your junk.
Moving on.
8 week of SS will be up in 1 1/2 weeks… aka 5 workouts. At this point I’ve decided to evaluate my body composition and do 1 of 2 things proceed as planned or deviate.
Based on the weight I’ve gained so far and the fact that my waist is actually growing enough to start to affect my clothing options at this point I will likely decide to change it up.
As it stands I’m ingesting a ton of carbs as this is the best way for me to gain any weight what so ever with high protein and excessive calories of course. I’ll see when I get to week 8 wether or not to switch it up to low carbs, high protein while incorporating some HIIT and continuing the SS program. I’m excited about my gains both in strength and size and I’m looking forward to more.
Well I think tonight was the first time I’ve done an evening workout… and well to tell you the truth I think I like it more than a before noon workout.
Ever since my reset I’ve been having issues with weight calculations… and I figured out why… I’m pulling info from a spreadsheet helper (SS sheet) and the days don’t match up… sheet will say do 135 on bp but i need to do 130… it’s basically a week off. So now I’m just gonna scrap that sheet and just pay attention to what my board says.
Squats: Weird on this… first set felt a bit heavy… then I got pumped up (music) and banged out the last 2 sets with great bar speed and depth. Each to get to my prior PR and bust that to hell.
Bench: I need to watch some more videos on this I think I’m pulling the bar too far down my body and somehow recruiting my shoulders a lot more than my chest as my chest NEVER feels like it’s been worked.
Deads: My warmup sheet says warmup with 90lbs i said no and warmed up with 135 and it threw off the rest of my warmup sets cuz I kept adding weight as usual. I warmed up with 15lbs less than my work set eventually. So I just took a 5 min break after my last warmup set and banged out the 5 reps of deads. I feel really strong on this… again like squats… eager to get to past PR.
I’ve got 2 weeks left til I decide where to go after SS but I’m gonna go out with a bang.
I took the While Flood Sample (which oddly had 6 pills instead of 8… oh well). I think I like it… I may order some very soon.
Squats were good, Mil Press was outstanding felt good recruitment and adjusted my grip a bit… seems to fire better. Bent Over rows (not pendlay this time) felt amazing. I could’ve added another 40-50lbs I think. But no rushing.
The Arms… man the arms I felt like I killed them today especially on the Alt DB Curls… same weight as last week but did 4, 4, and 6 more reps each set (respectively). Might be time to move up to 45’s next Saturday workout.
