Sorry, you’re too late.
This thread is about Alison Brie now.

MJ did have all the players you mentioned, but also Pippen. Rodman was one dimensional, a 7 time all NBA defensive 1st team and 7 time rebounding champion kind of one dimensional. I make no excuses for Lebron’s arrogance, or his ‘‘decision’’ debacle. My point is simply that he didn’t quit, he just realized that it was impossible to win when after 7 years the best the Cavs could give him was Mo Williams. Thats it. I agree with everything else wholeheartedly. But can we agree that as long as he didn’t have a legitimate no 2 he wasn’t going to win a title in Cleveland?
Yes, but one player away is hardly a reason to do what he did. Can you recall another franchise player leaving in his prime to go play with other superstars, as opposed to leaning on management to get him help?

You mean like when Kobe demanded a trade after the 2007 season? Then he took it back, then he re-demanded? And blasted his ownership.
The ONLY difference was Kobe wanted out while still under contract, so he couldn’t leave on his own.

Well, let me put it out there…this 60 win season argument is exaggerated. Playoff ball is a different game and a different season altogether. An 80 game season is a grind and you’re just not going to ever come close to playoff ball except for some key games and when teams are battling for meaningful playoff seedings. So let’s get that out of the way.
As for his decision to leave, I’m ambivalent about that. He was a free agent in his rights to do so, but as I said earlier, “the decision” was bullshit and the way he hung out his team and keeping them from getting compensation for him was bullshit. And, does anyone recall another franchise basketball player leaving his team in his prime to conspire with another superstar to cherry pick a team? All the franchise players I can recall hung in there and demanded help.
As for where he went…it was a poor decision. If he wanted championships, he should have went to Chicago like someone else said. They’d be contending this year.
Bottom line…the kid gets bad advice and is probably a bit lacking on character.
As for the posts saying we are wasting energy hating him, gimme a break. The whole god damn forum is a waste of time…it’s entertainment and we’re talking here like we’d talk down at the bar…except we’re typing. Don’t think one of us is losing sleep over LeBoor…but you’re mistaken about one thing…he cares what people think and he IS losing…losing fans, and ultimately, losing money.
Bodyguard, I will say one thing we’ll probably agree on – in the end, people WANT to cheer greatness.
Kobe was a black scar to the league, marketing companies, and fans around the world when he had that rape allegation mishap. Now he’s widely seen as the hard working, blue collar guy who’s in it for his team and genuinely cares.
I think, eventually, LeBron will be cheered (IF he starts winning rings). Again, people want to see greatness.

He has the talent, but it wasn’t put together, look, I’m not defending his Miami choice, only his choice to leave. He’s playing with two stars who do not complement him. Wade is basically a smaller Lebron, and Bosh is softer than Charles Barkleys physique circa 2010. If he was smarter he would have gone to chicago and played with a real point guard in Rose and had Noah playing defense and not giving up as many points as he scores like Bosh does. This Miami team was thrown together wth no regard for chemistry or playing styles and I will be glad when they flame out to Boston/Magic
Excuses, excuses, excuses. You were making excuses for why he didn’t win in Cleveland and now with 2 other superstars, you’re making excuses for him of why he’s not winning in Miami. Lebron won’t win a title until he matures and learns what really takes to be a leader.
Clearly, winners just know how to win. That’s why Kobe won so many titles between Shaq and Gasol.
Oh wait that’s right…he had an indefensible no-show in the 04 finals vs. DET and got knocked out in the first round in consecutive years by PHX in 2006/2007.
Kobe, the “ultimate winner”, is LIVING PROOF you need teammates to win.
The Cavs were EASTERN CONFERENCE FAVORITES last year, and now without LeBron and an otherwise-unchanged roster, they are arguably THE WORST TEAM IN THE NBA.
HOW does that prove he can’t win?

Let’s not do revisionist history here. Yes, he demanded help. Yes, he threatened to leave. And even if he did, he was looking at the Clippers an possibly Chicago if Management didn’t get him the proper help. He wasn’t looking for an easy way out and joining superfriends (i.e. Wade) to make his championship path easy. Let’s just not try to compare the 2 situations because these 2 players couldn’t be more different.

I can’t believe you are going down this path again. This has been debated ad nauseum. It’s obvious you need quality teammates to win. Kobe had a shit sandwich packaged around him in 2006/2007 until the trade for Pau Gasol. A good number 2 guy and some supporting players.
I’m not even going down the path of criticizing his leaving Cleveland. Kobe probably would have done the same thing. But he certainly wouldn’t have gone to Miami with Bosh and Wade looking for the perceived easy street to 6 or 7 titles (which ain’t gonna happen). Neither would Jordan. Kobe probably would have went to the Knicks or Chicago where he would clearly be the number one guy and not team up with other super-friends.
Why the hell are you defending this douchebag and then trying to drag Kobe’s name into this Yahoo’s easy-street, whining, I am the KING even though I haven’t won anything yet antics?
Give it a rest already.

.
Wait a minute why would he want to go to Chicago? Chicago is Jordan’s town, he’d be labeled an “MJ wannabe” instead of a dude “looking for the easy way” and some people would be critizing him for that.

Like when you just didn’t answer my question? Kobe demanded a trade. Big deal. Petulant, arrogant, justified, whatever - what he did NOT do is conspire with 2 other star players to go the same team. He simply said he was unhappy with management and wanted out. He didn’t call his buddies and say, “hey, let’s collude to go to this team and cherry pick a championship”.
BAD EXAMPLE

I guess you have a point here. It was still just such a ready-made team for him but I agree that the MJ shadow would be hanging over his head. The Knicks would also have been a good choice looking at how their doing now in particular.
It would seem like Lebron would have thrived in D’antoni’s 7 second offense.
