Why do so many people like Gary Johnson so much?
A better question would be why so many people want big government like Romney and Obama and not a pro freedom guy like Gary Johnson.
Apparently people like the control of Republicans and Democrats who are virtually the same on all the stuff that really matters imo.
The ironic thing will be Republicans cheering if Romney wins tonight and saying “finally the government will get off my back.” Lol, must have missed the last 3 Republican presidents massive expansion of government.
A better question would be why so many people aren’t working harder at getting candidates like Gary Johnson out of the Coventry of the Libertarian Party into Elephant land where he can actually have half a hope of doing something other the stimulating the loins of a million post-Paul 20-somethings. Libertarians (capital L) do not generally fare well at the national level. It’s too much for the masses to swallow. Libertarians (capital L) and libertarian minded folks do much better locally in their local state houses. Not many libertarian Senators. Some libertarian minded Congresscritters, and a lot of state level libertarians (small l)-- usually under the labels Independendents, Libertarians, or Republicans.
They affect change locally where it really matters.
The Federal level is all about “free stuff for the people” and there is no reversing the “Gimme My Free Stuff Now, At This Moment, At the Present Time” mentality. That point of no return was breached long, long ago.
Libertarians are not welcome forever in that space and the formal Republican and Democrat parties will make sure of that.
The even more sad thing is that, more and more, Libertarians at the local level are becoming more and more irrelevant, as our freedoms at the local levels are trumped by an ever bloating, voracious federal government.
I have no idea how accurate he is, but my brother is absolutely convinced that one of the federal bureaus (FDA or DEA, I’d guess) will be raiding the Massachusetts and Colorado pot shops as soon as they go up, as they are still in violation of Federal Law.
Can anybody weigh in on this. I have not followed ANYTHING about this, and to be honest, it came as a total surprise to me that they were even on the ballot as referendums (if that’s even what they were (^^)

Great thread…just wondering why all those guys that said they would be in here giving Silver his props if he was right are conspicuously absent?

VT-
I think it is important to point out that a few of them (but not all) actually did in the Nate Silver thread.
Some are still shocked that FOX news was wrong…They are asking for recounts and/or making excuses why their candidate lost.
