‘Ah, US Capitol Cops and US Park Police have overlapping jurisdictions.’

 • WTF has that to do with anything? Do they have overlapping uniforms too?

‘Either way I doubt these guys were SWAT or motor unit or whatever. They look like amateurs.’

 • Never suggested for a moment they were US Parks SWAT or motor units. I was pointing out that the US Parks Police are fully trained and equipped federal police. I had never heard of them before but looked them up after seeing their uniforms in the video.

I agree the takedown was shitty however. Perhaps that cop likes to watch WWF or something.

Jesus fuck, I was pointing out why I thought they were US Capitol Cops not saying they were in fact Capitol Cops.

Of course they’re trained, but I said they looked inexperienced. Not the same thing.

My mistake. I mistook the meaning of your ‘Ah’.

They probably are inexperienced. Washington is where US Parks Police are posted first after completing their training.

This animated gif perfectly represents how this thread is going and will go for the foreseeable future.
It’s especially apt because a gif such as this may look like the two men are hitting each other many many times but no, in reality it’s the same hits just repeated in a loop, going nowhere for as long as you continue to look.

A sane reasonable man diplomatically escorts (or at least tries to) him to the perimeter or off the premises.

Okay, I see where you’re coming from. But this is what cops are like. They have a really shitty job to do and are mostly dealing with scum of the earth and having to respond instantly to dangerous/unpredictable situations. This cop had to get this guy on the ground.
Why did this pig have to get this guy on the ground?

Just a bit curious here…
Pig? You mean the guys you call when you can’t handle a situation yourself or you want someone arrested who murdered your daughter or something? The guys that murder peoples’ daughters call them pigs too. You have something in common.

Why did he have to get him on the ground? Because he told him to put his hands behind his back and he refused. Need to get the cuffs on.
Right, so you’re telling me that a person with his hands in the most vulnerable position, clearly not actively resisting, cannot have his arms manipulated behind his back? The officer (as he showed) was not afraid to use physical force - rather than using both his arms and a bit of leverage to place his arms behind his back, he opts to perform a body slam that could have caused a variety of injuries from bruising to a damaged spine.

What happened last time someone got body slammed on concrete? - YouTube A FUCKING DISLOCATED KNEE.

Even if the body slam was “justified” to “get the cuffs on”, then explain why he then used a finger choke (you know, a manoeuvre banned in most grappling sports because it can crush one’s windpipe with relative ease). Oh sorry… it apparently done to put those cuffs on.
Standard police procedure. If someone refuses to place their hands behind their back they take them to the ground rather than try to manipulate their arms behind their back whilst they are standing. Cops don’t want to end up fighting/grappling with an offender.

I imagine the choke was used to instill fear in the offender in an attempt to indicate to him that he should not attempt any further resistance. As I stated before you can see that this officer is not choking out Kokesh. His hand is merely placed lightly around the throat. He is not attempting to compress the trachea or anything.

The bodyslam is not usual police procedure and it resulted in Kokesh being face up. This may be another reason for the choke. The standard procedure is to bring the offender down in such a way that he is face down on the floor. The arms are then manipulated behind the back and cuffed. Obviously this cop is not familiar with Judo/Jujitsu throws/takedowns or he wouldn’t have taken him down in that way.
What?? So to avoid grappling with someone, he uses a grappling manoeuvre and gets into a full mount (grappling position where someone can still poke out your eyes or grab your balls). If he wanted to avoid grappling, he would have brought in that second officer and taken him to the ground without potentially doing permanent damage to this guy.

Oh and “instilling feat into the offender”? What the hell are you on about? Is there a police handbook that suggests police should “instil fear into non-aggressive assailants by threatening to crush their throats”? I am a qualified door supervisor (in the UK), do you know what they tell me in the training? DON’T INTIMIDATE PEOPLE OR EXPECT TO GET ATTACKED OUT OF FEAR.

So basically, the officer performed an ineffective and dangerous slam, then performs a dangerous choking manoeuvre to make up for the previously pointless body slam. If that pig wasn’t familiar with basic restraint techniques then he should hand in his badge and gun so he can work in McDonalds. He’s just aggressive swine, just like the rest of those barn animals.

 • I’m talking about Adam Kokesh. 1:55 and onwards. Guy in the white T-shirt. At no time do either of the arresting cops have him in the mount, full or otherwise.

 • No handbook. Just something they do. Regardless of what ‘they’ tell you, police use fear and intimidation against resisting offenders.

 • As I said before, he doesn’t choke him out. He doesn’t even apply any pressure.

EDIT: At 2:08 one could conceivably argue that the cop has him in a knee mount for a second or two.

Where is Kevin Bacon when we need him most?

I called him a pig because I believe upon viewing the video that we have a classic example of police brutality, thus I do not call him an officer of the peace but a PIG.

I ordered a peaceful protestor (of sorts) to put his hands behind his back - he doesnt comply withink a milisecond of my command - HULK SMASHHHHHHHHH.

No I’m not a police officer. I have several in the family however. Don’t know what that has to do with anything. In addition, that cop fumbled around for some time with Kokesh before he decided to bodyslam him.

Oh, my mistake. Instead of a mount he just got into a position where the guy had a full 3 seconds of opportunity to grab his nuts. Great technique by the pig.

Regarding the bullshit about “instilling fear”, you clearly don’t know the difference between asserting authority and deterring crime vs INTIMIDATION. Grabbing someone by the throat is INTIMIDATION, the neck is one of the most vulnerable parts of the body. And when you intimidate someone, you can get the “cornered cat” reaction out of them.

Oh and “not applying pressure”, LOL. You have an amazing ability to see the force applied over an area using a fucking youtube video. So what if the guy decided to hit him in the balls? You don’t think he would have crushed the shit out of his throat as a knee jerk reaction?

People like you who defend incompetent cops are normally the ones who haven’t been shit on by the authorities before, your turn will come. It’s all fine and justified in your rose tinted glasses until it happens to you, then the reality fucking slaps you in the face …or grabs you by the throat.

Are you people really defending that guy? Regardless of the situation and whether or not public displays like that should be allowed in an area like the Jefferson Memorial, the officer was in the right.

I never suggested he wasn’t being intimidated. The crime had already been committed and the cop was trying to arrest him. Also, I’m not saying that cops SHOULD use fear and intimidation, I’m saying they DO. It appears to work 95% of the time too. I agree that this cop was incompetent but I still wouldn’t describe his behaviour as an overreaction or unnecessarily violent. He’s just trying to effectively and decisively get the guy on the ground and cuffed.

And you’ll realise why it’s wrong to do what works “95% of the time” when a pig thinks you need some intimidation shoved up your arse.

So body slamming an unarmed, non-aggressive person is not unnecessarily violent…

Right.

Sure. Both methods would have worked. And if he had called another officer over half of you guys would have been complaining about how they both brutalized Kokesh and that they could have done it more gently. Bottom line is, if a cop is trying to arrest you, you do not resist. Kokesh did.
