I still think Lance never cheated. Poor guy now has to admit something he never did, just to be able to continue do what he loves, compete in triathlon.
People should be ashamed.
Go Lance!

I see his Oprah confession going one of two ways
Good: He admits that it’s necessary to compete
Bad: He apologizes for using.
The problem with PED’s and American sports is no one wants to be the sacrificial lamb. Nobody comes out on top and says this is what has to be done to compete at the ultimate level. Only then can sports develop better ways of monitoring PEDs and any side effects they may have.
The real story here isn’t even the sports, or the cheating, or the competion, or the records.
The fact Lance has bullied, sued, dragged through court, cost people thousands $ & there reputaion. He used his money to try to DESTROY innocent people’s live for telling the TRUTH! It is beyond me how somebody can be so selfish and so low to attack people for being honest!
another side note would be the possiblity he gave himself nutsack cancer by over doing steriods, then mad eeverybody feel sorry for him. prentends like he care about kids, but isn’t honest w/ them on the dangers of what he did.

The thing is people WANT to see world records being broken… People want to see inhuman performances. What happens when everyone competes natural? No one will watch track and field anymore. It is a difficult question. I think one survey asked the public would they rather see a doped athlete run a new WR or natural runner running 10s 100m. No surprise over 70% said they’d rather take the doped WR.

Funny you just described the US government in the Assange case. They should’ve thanked him and everyone else for exposing corruption.
World isn’t exactly a fair place is it.
The problem for Armstrong is that he’s a huge dick and has treated people horribly for years .
This came to me from people who have worked with him. No one I know has a nice word to say about him.
EVERY cyclist uses some sort of blood doping. The entire Tour De France racers have hematocrit counts of 49.5. Average population has 42 with Olympic athletes have 46. Do you really think its genetically based or is every one blood doping?
He came clean to Oprah.

I think people who actually think you should stop blood doping are a tad clueless about the big picture. All they see is “sports”.

I have not read this whole thread but I do think it is a shame that he came out. More negativity publicity over PED’s just means more prohibition and demonization of these drugs. There is already nearly no research being done on them despite the amazing medical befits for aids and cancer patients. No one seems to be saying, damn this guy used PED’s and beat cancer like 4 or 5 times and was able to compete at a world class level in a sport, perhaps we need to research how they could save more lives?..

Of course not. The minute the conversation took that turn the average American would change the channel to something that involved hitting someone with a folding chair.
Excellent post, btw.

Hey, I tried to point that out at the start of the thread but people claimed they couldn’t understand it.

All the torches and pitchforks must have distracted them.
The average person is a dumbass who sees their entire life like a football game. They act that way in politics and even with science. It is why you have old people still telling you eggs will kill you with passion.
The bottom line is this will HARM the access to optimal life and aging treatment.
People cheering that on are dumb as shit.
That Dorian Yates interview posted in the BB section had some great discussion on PED’s. The amount of ignorance surrounding the subject of steroids is literally disgusting.

I had a good conversation with my mother about this on the winter holidays. I think I got it though to her that it is mostly the media giving it such a bad rep and listed the positives. I think I educated her on the subject and opened her mind to it.

I guess I get your point, but it remains very vague why there is something to be learned from blood doping. People understand blood doping very well.

LOL. I am sure they understand it very well…from all of those Google classes and youtube tutors.
LOL at what passes for knowledge today.

Agreed. So how do you think this is going to play out long term? [The substitute of knowledge with, well, the appearance of knowledge.] Is everyone just going to get stupider? Or are the people who actually know wtf they’re doing just going to dominate?
Maybe this needs its own thread.
FINALLY OUR LONG NATIONAL NIGHTMARE IS OVER AND WE CAN GET BACK TO WATCHING CYCLING

Are you really that retarded? Obviously I wasn’t talking about the average Joe, but researchers and the like.
