I didn’t know which forum to post this in to be honest but I’m pretty sure everyone goes through a patch the likes I’m experiencing at the moment and If you have please let me know how you overcame it.
Well I had a goal to get to before I went on holidays at the end of December, missed it by a kilo but got the bf to where I wanted and took a lot of satisfaction out of that fact, anyway to get there I hadn’t taken a week off for 7 months. I usually would after every 3 months…I was pretty drained, my joints were beginning to get really achy but I still managed to train through the holiday just for the confidence (the ladies on the cruise were fantastic).
I decided to take that week off when I got back! On the 6th day of the week off I got the flu real bad, had cold/flu symptoms all week but didn’t hink it would suffice to what I did, andyway I was bed ridden for 3 days, 2 of which I was unable to eat without vommitting. My chest and muscle were really bad for a couple of day after so i decided to wait the extra 2 days, get myself right and then go back. Problem was I’ve lost a lot of motivation over that time, I’ve reintroduced carbs to my diet (was previously on a keto style diet for a year) and all in all its really pissing me off!! I know people will say, pull the finger out, get the fuck up and start training again and I am but anyone with nany tips on how to get the motivation and hunger back and to keep it there??
Don’t be afraid to take a long break if you need it. In the grand scheme of things, 6-8 weeks is not that long. Now I am not saying to do nothing and just eat junk food for a while, but you will be fine if you just stay moderately active and concentrate on maintaining your weight.
This happens to me from time to time, typically after a long stretch where weightlifting has been my top (and only) priority. When you are ready to come back, read a few of your favorite T-Nation articles, and remember you will be weak and disappointed for those first couple weeks, but it will likely pay off in the end.
Do you have any other goals or interests that you have been putting off that you may want to concentrate on for a while?

Thanks for the advice man, although I don’t think I’ll take that much time out. I might just get stuck into a few motivational articles over the next few days along with trying to work out a decent training program and a supplemenet plan…hopefully the headspace and desire to get in the gym will be alright after that!
