Whats your thoughts…i know mine and i called it. “Do you feel better?” Well hell yes i was almost bottomed out but i dont feel how i should still" imo… these results back my answer to that question. So…here we go.
Went from 75 to 356 total.
Went from 2.8 to 7.0 free
Estradiol 8-35 normal range. Mine is low at 5.
21.7 shbg(she said normal🤷♂️). Haven’t met with my dr yet she’s on vacation. Just had them tell me my results over the phone. But thats after 3 months of doing it their way. So…thoughts? My thoughts are this…need to double my trt. And I bet she leaves it right where its at. If so im going to be asking for a referral to a local urologist that ive heard great things about. 41, male, regular weight training for 1.5 years after 8 years out of the gym, fairly clean diet, 5’9 220lb pretty solid.
need to double my trt.
5’9 220lb
As a fellow 5’9 trainee, rather than doubling TRT, I’d look at reducing bodyweight. A 41 year old 5’9 male with 1.5 years of regular weight training at 220lbs is not typically an individual that is so overly muscled that they are a lean 220lbs. Getting rid of adipose tissue could go a long way toward improving totals.
Well…im 220 benching 335. Wear a 32x30 pants and a large T. Im not ready to walk on stage nor do i have any desire to do so… and i’m not bragging by any means but im not a 5’9 220 slouch. Been doing farm work and concrete work most my life.
Well…im 220 benching 335.
I was doing this as a 181lb athlete at 5’9. I could move much more when I was closer to 220, but I was also far chunkier at that weight.
You were asking our thoughts, and those are mine. I’d look into leaning out rather than doubling the dose. I find that the medication tends to be more effective when the external variables are accounted for.
Yessir and i appreciate your thoughts. I also was a college athlete…24 years ago lol. But happy to say at 41 i can still move weight even though im 30lbs heavier lol. I wasnt pushing that weight when I weighed 190. Anyway. Thank you for the advise on my chunkieness lol. Was looking more for what thoughts are on the numbers i provided. Only basing it on what friends of mine experience… they were in the 200s and dr put them on 200mg a week. Now they are in the 600-700 range. I was at 75 and mine put me on 100 and im at 356.
You’re carrying a fair bit of BF. I would look at diet and cardio before upping drugs. Also when you post bloodwork you should really post the ranges.
If your top end is 900 like most US labs then your numbers are def a bit low. What is the dose you are taking?
You’ve only been in TRT for theee months. Your body is really not even fully adjusted yet. I would give it a least another 2-3 months where your at.
Don’t take the suggestion to lose weight as a slight. You look great, but sadly, health markers don’t always align with the goal of taking up as much space as possible.
Well said. Nobody is hating in this advice. You have a lot of muscle and just trimming down alone will net you a nice physique.
I don’t think you mentioned your current dose or schedule?
Right here

Taking 100mg a week… started with 75 total and 2.8 free. Really hard to get rid of body fat with those numbers… you feel like shit. If we could feel great and stay fit without the trt NONE OF US would be on it. Diet is cleaner than it’s ever been and when i say I’m hitting the gym hard IM HITTING IT HARD. I’ll post a pic of a few months ago for comparison. Only 9lbs lighter but big difference in composition. Trying to upload pre trt picture
when i say I’m hitting the gym hard IM HITTING IT HARD.
This could actually be working against you. Training is a catabolic activity, rather than anabolic. It’s the recovery that is anabolic. A lot of dudes can tank their test by training too hard and not recovering well enough, and training really hard on top of a calorie deficit is a surefire way to pile up stress on an already stressed body.
Oh i get that. No hard feelings. But…i guss i should have posted before and after pics. Ive only lost 9lbs on trt but major difference in composition. But I’ve been busting my balls for well over a year. And my results while a big difference do not compare to the work and lifestyle changes ive made. Which… when total t is 75 and free is 2.8… makes sense
Now maybe that’s what we aren’t seeing eye to eye on. When i say diet is better than ever…i do not mean calorie deficit. Im definitely taking in calories but im trying to build size and strength(bulk) while drinking a lot more water and taking in high calorie clean foods. Not gonna say i always pass on a brownie lol. But i pass on most of them
50mg cyp monday and Thursday for 100 a week.
When i say diet is better than ever…i do not mean calorie deficit.
This could be why there is a struggle to lose fat.
Heres 3 month’s before trt (after a year hitting it hard)and current for comparison. I know i can stand to cut more fat. But just so you can see…i have been. And still trying. Just seems like i have to work twice as hard to get half the results. Cant help but think low numbers have something to do with it. Let me ask you this…if you were pinning twice a week and at 356 total and 7 free after 3 months would you feel like you are where you need to be? Im old but im talking to guys 10 years older than me that are in the 600-800 range. And not gonna lie…im tired of feeling like crap. Im happy for them. But im also jealous
Yes for sure lol. Im asking about my numbers. Would you be happy at 356total and 7 free pinning twice a week for 3 month’s? Youre suggesting lose fat. I have. And will continue. But thats not my main focus right now. I want to have optimal levels for mental health and stability. Im moody as hell. I can literally tell when i need a shot. And unfortunately i cant take another until its time or my script will be gone in a week. Im not trying to walk on a stage and be judged. If anything im trying to be bigger stronger. If i ever get where I want to be then i will primarily focus on cutting fat. I posted some pics in comments somewhere of december till now. Ive cut fat and built muscle. Its been hard but i have done it and im going to keep grinding. But I WANT TO HAVE THE ENERGY TO DO IT. Tired of feeling like a 70 year old man trying to get in shape. Heres december-current pics incase you dont see onbthe Other comments. Last 3 months was on trt.
You def making progress so what is the issue? It’s only been a few months. I would wait until next bloods. The goal of TRT is to take the least amount to make you feel good/perform. It seems both are tracking up for you. There is no need to chase numbers. That’s the worst thing you can do here.
Have the conversation with the Doc. Just be honest because if they boost you dose and you feel off the charts great but your bloods are shit they will lower you again and it’s a totoal mind*uck to drop your dose.
This is a long game your in. Fast results do not last. You much better off slow and steady which seems like where you are at.
