“Ok, I’ll use an example. We hated the communists”
That stuff didn’t really have anything to do with communists. “Communist” was the name given to countries whose leaders put their own counrty’s needs first, whether they were really communist or not. Pierre Trudeau put Canada’s needs first & defied the USA, so J Edgar Hoover plotted to assassinate him for being a communist. The USA hated comminists? More like the USA hated countries who didn’t follow US orders.
ALL of the sites pointed out by Powell in his UN speach show ZERO traces of bio or chem weapons.
Just today I heard on NPR a 27 yr veteran (who represents a group of retired CIA agents) of the CIA calling on Cheney to resign due to this admin’s outright lies and mishandling of intelligence - manipulated to serve their needs
Of course you heard that on NPR. That’s what NPR does - bash the right. Maybe Cheney should resign (I certainly don’t think so) but even if he was a saint you wouldn’t here about it on NPR.
OK; I don’t want to bring up all the stuff that was said, but diesel23, you really scare me.
You are the type of nationalist that made Hitler become an authority in Germany.
You don’t see that your country and your leader also has flaws. Well, in some points Bush’s tactics are justified, but n some, they really aren’t.
You tell us that those B-1 are gonne fly around in the next years???
Sorry, but I think this is just sick.
Of course, you are on the way of fighting terrorists and “evil” dictators, but this can very easily get out of hand. The USA will place troops in every country they “free” to “help it get back on track” (british colonialism).
Even if (in the case of Iraq) the people don’t even want their help.
The USA shouldn’t become too powerfull.
No country should. There always has to be some balance of powers. If Bush(or any man in that position) sees, that he has enough millitary power to run down earth this can very easily happen.
No man should have this power.
So, to not make this happen, one should always have a relatively neutral view of things, not the extreme nationalism of diesel nor the extreme ant USA-ism of Restless and others.
On another note, since all this tomfoolery is more or less a result of 911. How do you US citizens feel about these claims that the FBI new something was up yet didn’t pass the info on up, possibly due to departmental politics?

Well Anatoli Kornukov, the commander-in-chief of the Russian Air Force, says the official US story is impossible. Here’s what it says on The Emperor’s New Clothes:
"[Start report from Russia] ?Generally it is impossible to carry out an act of terror on the scenario which was used in the USA yesterday.? This was said by the commander-in-chief of the Russian Air Force, Anatoli Kornukov. ?We had such facts [i.e., events or incidents] too?, - said the general straightforwardly. Kornukov did not specify what happened in Russia and when and to what extent it resembled the events in the US. He did not advise what was the end of air terrorists? attempts either.
But the fact the general said that means a lot. As it turns out the way the terrorists acted in America is not unique. The notification and control system for the air transport in Russia does not allow uncontrolled flights and leads to immediate reaction of the anti-missile defense, Kornukov said. ?As soon as something like that happens here, I am reported about that right away and in a minute we are all up,? - said the general. [End report from Russia.]"
Isn’t it strange that the Commander-in-Chief of the US Air Force claims to not have known about the hijackings until ~30mins after they were hijacked & didn’t scramble fighter jets even after he found out.
Sure many NPR programs lean to the left, but Im damn glad they are there. If all we had was Fox news then we’d be up to our necks in US=GGs - oh wait, we already are…shit.
In any case, that CIA vet was not an actor, he is the real deal and has a problem with the way the White House has misused intelligence.
This is a legitimate concern, just witness the 9/11 investigation papers. Theres alot of serious questions that are NOT being addressed by the State Dept. OR the mainstream media.
Thinking people should be pissed off about this - as the German chap pointed out, sheep-like behavior induced by fear of “the other” is very dangerous.
I also think it is good that there are outlets for both ends of hte political spectrum, however, let’s be fair, there are way more left leaning forums. ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN and on and on…fox news is taking a lot of heat now from the left because they are beating everyone in the ratings.
I also, agree that we need to look closer at our intelligence community things are definately not adding up. I don’t buy into the conspiracy theories though.
