I kinda got it!

But upon closer examination, theres still a little room for improvement.

Not super sharp, but using it last night to cut beef for stir fry was noticeably better. Just fell right through with virtually no pressure.

The big tell will be trimming salmon. That skin is tough.

I couldn’t make much progress on the Chicago Cutlery though. The steel must be like super tough. May have to start at a lower grit and move up. The stone I used is 2000 on one side, 8000 on the other.

CRKT started as a budget brand, but like most knife companies have expanded to cover everything, from budget to premium. I like a lot of their stuff. I think I threw a pic of my CRKT above, the discontinued Scrub. They make some cool hatchets and tomahawks, too.

Funny story. My wife and I were looking at knives and she asked about the quality of the “cricket” brand. Had no idea what she was talking about, then she pointed to the CRKTs. I told her it was Columbia River Knife and Tool, but you know what? I’m calling them crickets now. :grinning:

I think I like that name better now also!

I might need to do this. The edge might just be too far gone and need reshaped.

Cold Steel Espada:

Tim Patterson loaned it to me for… um, an assignment.

Fun fact: The Espada came in three sizes. This is the medium.

They still make it with plastic handles. This was the pricier version.

Name the TV show that made it famous.

And here it is in large (or XL) with the G-10 handles. I kinda want this for no good reason.

That pebbled black one looks awesome. I am not a big dive watch guy, but that one is pretty unique.

My new sharp pointy thing.

I’m not sure if this counts as dangerous, but these little tactical flashlights are my new favorite thing. They fit in my sleeve pocket, are bright as hell, can break glass, dent metal, and now I can legally carry this around instead of a tube of chapstick.

Maybe it actually is dangerous.

Probably my last pick up for awhile because this thing is awesome.

It’s a little on the small side for committing certain deeds, but a bright LED light to the eyes is sort of like modern pocket sand.

I went and checked that out and it looks sweet. I have had a Dragonfly 2 for quite a few years, which is a great little blade. This looks like the same shape scaled up a bit with improved materials and mechanism.

Look, just because we had a bad breakup dosen’t mean you can tell the whole internet about that size issue.

Joking aside, I’ve been pulled over by cops, as a white dude, driving through an ethnic neighborhood at zero-dark-thirty on my way to or from work, who ask if I have any weapons in the vehicle. I admit I have my knife kit. Which currently looks like something a serial killer would tote around.

So now I keep it in the trunk, but going through said neighborhoods, if something happens, I can do this,

and leave a bad situation without broken fingers. Learned that the hard way.

Dexter! :hugs:

Hannibal might be closer.

He was brilliant.

Dexter was focused and elegant, like a very smart cobra.

Hannibal was a showman, an artist, designer, aesthetician of death. A Renaissance man.

Well when you get your hands around it you can see that it is more substantial in length and girth than your first picture indicated.

This is one of the first knives i have had with a “Top Tier” steel in the Cru-Wear. Supposed to be incredibly tough with great edge retention. Will be curious to see how long it will go before needing a sharpen.
