That’s funny, the “it’s not asinie,” comment was directed at you not SMH. So again, the conversation that SMH and I had had nothing at all to do with fear of the government.

That’s okay though. After this several post exchange I don’t expect your comment to include any sort of substance. [/quote]

lol

“I wasn’t expressing fear of government to SMH, I was expressing fear of government to you”

I got my tin foil hat on, but the government keeps taking my liberties away. I guess I was right.

If that’s how you’ve taken my posts you are mistaken. I’m leary of the government not afraid of her.

Soooooooo prohibiting people from buying new assault weapons (current owners are not affected) = systematic rounding up and destruction of all privately owned firearms?

Actually current owners are affected. In NY Assault rifles have to be registered.

Still waiting to here about this:

usmc @ VTballa34
"After Newton these laws were created. I’m pretty sure I said after a couple more it’s entirely possible that our gov would move to round up and destroy privately owned arms. Please go back and check the quote and correct me if I’m wrong.

Do you not think that’s possible? "

and this:

usmc @ vtball

"Who said the constitution would need to be completely dissolved? "

and this one,

usmc @ VTballa

“I’m sure the Jews thought their guns would never have been round up or that their government never ever would have massacred them. How’d that work out?”

Any rebuttal to this:

"The fact is, when people are afraid, they allow their rights to be trampled. SEE THE PATRIOT ACT. "

Honestly, just add one comment of substance to the discussion. Just one, please.

Queue the music,

VTballa,

"You?re just a loony living in a dream world. Patriot Act, people like you defended that shit to death. Fuck you’re just afraid of the gubberment spying on you. Jesus put your tin foil hat back on and go to a tea party rally already. The flying spaghetti monster can’t help you. Do you need the Bill of Rights to tell you how to put your pants on? Most don’t.

(This or a similar response is 100% what will come next except it will be 50x more condescending)

In MD you have to be fingerprinted to buy a handgun now. I wonder what the state will do with that info??

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo signed into law a sweeping package of gun-control measures on Tuesday, significantly expanding a ban on assault weapons and making New York the first state to change its laws in response to the mass shooting at a Connecticut elementary school.

The expanded ban on assault weapons broadens the definition of what is considered an assault weapon and reduces the permissible size of gun magazines to 7 rounds, from 10.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. ? Sweeping restrictions on gun ownership passed the Maryland General Assembly on Thursday, including a ban on new purchases of assault weapons, a 10-bullet limit on magazines and requirements that handgun buyers undergo fingerprinting and target training.

You’re right VT, Newton didn’t cause any changes to gun laws. More school shooting will also not lead to further laws.

No anti gun culture in America either:

Biden Aids Governor in Push for New Gun Laws in Connecticut

Oh what’s this limits the right to keep and bear arms. Not possible VT, that piece of paper 3 blocks from you says so.

A New Jersey statute limits purchases of firearms in the state to one handgun a month

^ it took about 3 minustes to find all of this stuff that ISN’t happining in America. All from the NY times so I didn’t get some crap about it being right wing nutjobbery.

Care to explain the video VT:

^
“I don’t care what the law is,” said by the Sergeant in the video…

I love that time and time again throughout history, governments have fucked over their citizens in various manners, and are currently doing so around the world (China, NK, Pakistan, etc). but when OUR precious government micromanages its citizens more and more, and systematically strips us of our rights, suddenly you MUST be one of those “crazy conspiracy theory” people if you believe they don’t have your best interest at heart. News flash…all those other governments were composed of people, and generally speaking, problems arose when too much power fell into the hands of too few. HUMANS WILL ALWAYS BE SELFISH. People have not changed. There are/will always be people seeking positions of power only for their selfish desires, and anybody that believes any significant amount of our politicians are in their positions because they want to SERVE us is delusional at best.

For these reasons, government powers must be kept to a BARE MINIMUM, since HUMANS like you and I hold those positions of authority.

I wonder how a civil suit against that officer and sergeant would work out for that guy? I’m not sure what the laws are in Texas, but in Virginia, unless the caller claimed that guy had brandished the weapon, I’m not sure of any way the policemen could have legally detained that man or taken his weapon. I am almost 100% sure that it wouldn’t be worth the man’s time to sue the officer or sergeant in either state though.

I guess it goes back to what you said about creating an anti-gun culture. People are now freaked out by someone carrying a rifle strapped to his back, or a gun on his hip.

Great post. Additionally, does anyone think that the majority of citizens were against any of these oppressive governments’ actions? I think I once mentioned to SMH that when I was in school, I always wondered why people accepted the treatment they received from tyrannical leaders throughout history, but no longer do. I used to question why so few slaves, who supposedly vastly outnumbered their owners, rebelled against their owners. I no longer do. It’s easier to go along with your master’s wishes than to challenge them. People love the tranquility of servitude.

Yes. Because sure, ordinary citizens outnumber the government hugely…the issue is, you know that YOU, as an individual, won’t be able to overthrow the government or reform it by yourself, and are you willing to sacrifice the well-being of your family to try and make a small difference? They know we have more to lose at any given time by challenging “authority” than by going along with it, so step by step, freedoms are stolen away…

By allowing government a near monopoly on the education of American citizens, we have certainly allowed the government to convince us that is so.

Patrick Henry once said:

They tell us, sir, that we are weak; unable to cope with so formidable an adversary. But when shall we be stronger? Will it be the next week, or the next year? Will it be when we are totally disarmed, and when a British guard shall be stationed in every house? Shall we gather strength by irresolution and inaction? Shall we acquire the means of effectual resistance, by lying supinely on our backs, and hugging the delusive phantom of hope, until our enemies shall have bound us hand and foot?

Sound familiar?
