Was that your first ever attempt at sumo?
I’ve never tried them. Watching that I’m tempted to give them a go as my warm up for deads on Thursday, thanks.
Nice variety in your training Kevin, always giving me ideas.

I loved all the sumo videos and talk in here. This is something I’m ALWAYS working on…sit back, squat up the weight, don’t lift with my back. Hard.
Farmer B- thanks… I have played with sumo in the past- and they kill my hips
today I spent the better part of an hour at home
lx pvc and stretching hips which made it possible
Truth be told I need the variety cause shhhhhh training can be boring sometimes
Kimba thank you - I was glad to read all of the good advice and discussion too.
Strong work Kevin. I pull semi-sumo with almost the same foot placement as my squat. I find it more comfortable then both wide sumo and conventional deads. Easier on the knees, hips and back for me.
Hey Kev, Just catching up a bit. The warm up vid was nice, I hadn’t thought of throwing in a mini complex to warm up with.
I have a friend who does lighting design in SanFran, he’s always super busy. Ever thought of picking up and moving across country?
Nice vids Mac! I loved the warmup vid, and I always liked pulling sumo better than conventional. I figured it was better for me since I’m a shortstack with more glute strength than back strength.
I’m in no position to comment on form, but I always envisioned the lift - hips down, pull like a lever, crack some nuts between your buttcheeks, brah. HAHAH! Hope that’s helpful!
I’m with you, I got bored dumb from my presurgery training - till I was antsy to get my surgery on! Ugh. Now I wish I’d just waited to get the surgery until winter! Silly Maschy.
Steve thank you. Pulling semi sumo make sense for alot of reasons
I always think of Ed Coan when I think of semi sumo
Pch2 - good to see you and thanks.
min complexes are great for warm ups
they realy can get the heart rate going…
and they can mimic some of the work ahead.
thanks- relocating seems a million years away
Its sort of a rule in the business- west coast people can come here to work
we cant go there. Producers always get hassled in CA for hiring NYC talent
over ‘locals’
we think of moving but we are both Native New Yorkers, hard to move.
Maschy glad to see you too-
shhhh on the boredom peeps can read.
you can always comment on my form or lack of.
glad your
soon as I clear my plate of some strength goals
like pulling above 500 and front squatting 315 on the reg
I am going to do different stuffs
training it actually happened
busy as hell- hams super tight imagine that.
7.12.11
mobility lypt, dip, pullup back raise face pull all 3x10
did a bunch of cartwheels in the raquet ball court
good to go.
A1 NG pullup bw+45 10x3
A2 OH db press 35x10,50x8,60x 8x5
B1 power curl 135 5x3
B2 loaded pushup +45 5x10
Notes.
thats its kinda boring.
I haz vids , it cant always be about the foot stomps
pullups got tedious in the last few sets
as did OH press.
power curls wanted something like a clean
these fit the bill and let me swole away.
loaded pushups today these sucked.
vids are the last set of each
in the pullups Im wearing the wraps cause I didnt take rest between
pullup and oh press.
in the pushups my abs are touching the floor - the shirt is hiding it.
and
just take the shirt off for the ladies next time…
George lol
that is pretty funny.
Its those damn extra medium shirts!!!
actually the 2nd vid is for Joe.
he was curious how I loaded those up.
super busy today-
when did staying at home get so hard?
wrote and or replied to emails for a gig that went away
77 of them and two 1/2 hour calls
paid 549.00 for car service, new front brake pads, and some other random service shit
involving a muffler clamp
yay?
had two other days of work next week go away , come back go away to move to next month
paid some bills - snooped for other work.
somehow managed some BW stuffs
4 rounds
kettle bell swings 25lb bell 25
judo pushup 25
bw squat 50
now I have little mans crib that I assembled- a normal full sized one-
he has been squashed into an 18x36" one for all this time- he loves it.
however - like the rest of the day- I have to move something like 60%
of our apartment around to shoehorn the new one in
blahblahblahblah
I need to go to work tomorrow to get away from household management stress.

Good raw sumo pulling is very very rare. Most don’t have the leverages/flexibility. Sumo can be gearwhored more than conventional, hence its popularity for those evil gear wearers. [/quote]
Very very very few people pulled sumo back in late 70’s early 80’s. But those that did/could were amazing. Your definitely right at gear changed you were odd man out if you didn’t pull sumo.

I 2nd that!
nice training as always - pullups are awesome, although that kid ranting was on the weird side.
I am trying to balance having fun and switching it around with my year’s end goals. You think we can hit them by december? Maybe if I lay off the vino ![]()
sorry i haven’t been around, but as always, loved to hear what you have to say, and what you do in the gym
First time visitor. First page and last page read only. Of course, I admire your pullups. And the pushups too. I’ve tried pushups with my hands that far back and that close in but, damn those are hard. I think I need to work those–I think they’ll help my press.
German and Pete
I like them for glute ham work- I dont its likely I can do them well enough to switch
Frenchie – thanks yeah that kid was indeed weird crying about HS football.
I am having fun that is why I train my way
however something more structure would probably make my goals happen faster.
basically I want to move to doing giant sets or giant complexes
with big numbers
shirtless.
I am whiter then a light bulb it might be too blinding.
that and I have like a dead poodle on my chest
Nadia - thank you for the visit- glad to see you
I dont really do much pressing- so I like the loaded pushups
wider seems to kill my shoulders- everyone is different that way.
just catching up on all the awesomeness!
I <3 giant sets…would like to do some complexes as well but never do ![]()
probably cause they take so much more energy than I have…but not for long!
MinM thank you!!
home with little man - for the morning, going in for 2pm til 2am
welcome to shooting at night.
working on a show thru tuesday- off this weekend
going to relax and do the weekend house.
probably no training til tuesday morning.
strangely enough I am with a group in my extended peer circle.
whom I have not seen in a few months- a few commented on I look all swole.
my ankle and knee suspicions have been verified.
what ever instability is happening in my right ankle is now manifesting in my right knee.
its happened before -
basically the gap between the patella and tibia kneecap and shin gets more pronounced
like my shin is detattched.
over pronation on my ankle leads to inward cave on my knee-
yay!!!
I think its plantar related.
yay!
see you people in a few days
Sucks about the leg, hopefully it’ll clear up and be ready for next week. Have a good weekend.

this sounds vaguely like what happend to me a couple of months ago. take some of your own advice, ice the legs, then elevate.
I found tons of lower body static stretching, after rolling helps. If it is plantar related roll feet, I like a baseball, but who am I talking too?
enjoy your weekend off.
Hey puppet, nice videos. I like the pushups but like Nadia I have a tough time doing them that low and tight. I tried a couple sets like that during the week and couldn’t get more than 25. It seems like a lot more tricep.
Have an awesome weekend.
