handstand pushups ftw. trying that would be a great neck workout for me. also make my neck shorter as I piledrive 300 lbs into the cranial-floor connection.

I need to start taking the kind of time you take on mobility. I do it, just not enough.

super short on time

pvc and some mobility at home

ran 1 mile to gym

warmups

hanging leg raise 2x10, face pull 2x15

front squat 135x8
db bench 80x8
pullup NG 10

then 4 sets of the following no rest between exercises 2 mins between sets.

front squat 225x5
DB bench 90x5
pullup 8
DB snatch 80x5

Notes.

I have schedule issues at the gym- closed at 10 used to be 11
I got there at 945, did the hanging leg raises, some leg swings
and face pulls and did this almost giant set.

something is up with my neck shoulder trap stability for a change
OH squatting 65 lbs was out tonight.
sad sad state of affairs

this is a kind of training I can do- if warm enough
everything felt heavy - til the 3rd set then I got a groove and it all felt good.

I bet if I laid this out better I would not be as gassed and feeling like shit at the end of each set
benching what for me is ‘heavy’ directly after squatting kind of sucked ass
but told me I need more upper back and oblique work.

I liked this session even if it felt like death while doing it.

Trined in the am this sucks.
It sucks for a few reasons- i had niot eaten enough
No grip strength in the am.

And there where like a dozen 70 year olds two whom hung their coats in the rack i was using

One old geezer was 77 and huge and jacked like a gorilla
Chatted me up a bit while oh squatting and wearing headphones

OH squats are getting slowly better
Topdown dead lift pulled these out of the rack
Read about them either here or on elite FTS

They seemed ok i get nothing out of rack pulls
So these seemed like a good idea
they do make it easier but I felt dead after them.

405 x 5 felt good

two sets of reverse lunges, and I was done.
pulling - killed me today- training in the am is something I need to do-
and I need to acclimatize.

405 x 5 @ a bw of what, 175#, is extremely adequate. Never heard of the top down DL. Interesting. And us old folks need someone to talk too.

Yeah man that is some real good pulling! As far as the older guys, at least they dont speak to you in the locker room when they are drying their balls on the hand dryer, it happened to me, really cool guy I just couldnt get passes the ball drying though.

What is it I hear about all these old me drying their balls with the hand dryer? Is this a fad that started in the 50s and then went out of fashion?

Anyways, hilarious re: using the rack to hang their windbreakers!

Loathe training in the AM. But yeah, you’ll get used to it. And then you’ll be all, “I had to train in the PM. Man that sucked” lol!

Great work in here. You use a huge variety of exercises. Do you have a program as such or do you make it up depending upon how you feel each day.

You sound very athletic, not too many people can deadlift heavy and also do handstand push ups and pistols.

Hel- Im probably more like 185 now , so I guess im stocky not skinny.
the gorilla sized guy told me he doesnt bench cause he tore his shoulder at 67 and had surgery
benching 275 incline.
I suppose he can talk when ever he likes.

Im kiding - I wrestled in HS college and did Greco-Roman internationally and Judo after college

so I have some exposure to formal training

I have training ADD and am a little banged up.

ideally I would like a 4 day a week two upper two lower one being more of a ‘speed’ day
lots of unilateral work, jumping and stuff.

its more like 2 days for now.

I Have program ADD and need to keep shit fresh-
the unilateral work, jumps, and sudo O-lifts keep me agile and interested

315 felt heavy today, 405 felt stiff probably need more sets at 225 like 2x5
top down again these are good - but I think eventually they might fuck with mechanics

455 went up fast 475 got to knees on the way up.
more speed work needed these left me for dead the 405 triple was ok but not enough low back arch

zerchers fun. just 3x5
power curls- wanted something fast thought of db snatches but will do them later in the week

turkish get ups- Holy shit these are hard
roll-outs felt good

I think In future I going to towards one lower day one upper and one unilateral day or one day of
giant sets or heavy complexes and add some conditioning in .

some bodyweight shit a ton of PVC
and some stretching.

I think the deal with the top down deads is they can fuck up mechanics-
you end up using more trap and upper back and not sitting back enough
but they are better for me so far then rack pulls.

stop doing top down deads. no point to them except injury and false additonal reps

Get in when you can. If it had not been for 5am lifties when mine was under 4, i would not have had any movement. You get used to it after awhile. But for you, you’ll want to eat first.

Never heard them called top down deads but then again they will be called something else in 5 years. I know some outstanding deadlifters who did them in the 70’s (sort of did them). Basically what i do and they did was no touch deads. Do a normal deadlift rep then complete the rest of the set without touching the floor. Key is to lower the weight with the exact same form as you deadlifted it with but in reverse (i think that explains it). It will blow up your erectors, glutes, etc but you have to maintain your form. I really prefer them over rack pulls.
I also know ribic did/does a variation of these no touch deads quite a bit in training.
