Kick-Ass: The Movie

Uhm, some of the top grossing movies lately are based on comics or “graphic novels”. That includes movies like Wanted, 300, Sin City and Kick-Ass. The subject material is already there. All they have to do is bring it to the screen.

Of course this might look strange if you ignored this fact or don’t even follow these issues at all.

All I keep hearing are decent reviews though so maybe your perspective is what needs changing.

How is “Kick Ass” offending a guy with a half naked woman in his avatar as others have point out?

It emphasizes the fickleness of today’s society. I remember (acually i dont) when movies actually had themes that you could openly discuss (either directly or indirectly) with your mates, now its just 'woah when that dude blasted that other dudes face off the blood spatter was awesome. Those explosions blew my mind, dude…"

If you have an action flick you might as well do something with that. I think an unknown part of the nice reviews of this film kick-ass by critics and film goers are in relation to the lack of any other worthy to see films out there right now. Retards in hollywood dont know how to make action movies or comedies anymore. We, the average film enthusiasts are stuck with Judd Apatow shit, Twilight, Harry Potter and Seth fuckin Rogen.

Harry Potter movies are solid and Apatow is hit or miss. So what’s your points there are plenty of good movies out this week. Death at a Funeral, date night, dragons etc… all got great reviews.

well that changes things, i had no idea it was based on a comic book. i thought it was just a really shitty looking premise for a movie. now i think it was a shitty premise for a comic book that got made into a movie. to each their own, i dont do comic book movies in the first place so im ok with not seeing it.

I don’t see how you can call it shitty based on a 30 second commercial spot on tv.

The problem is, absolutely none of the cool stuff could possibly be shown in trailers, its just simply too violent and awesome.

so yeah the previews look horrible, but…the movie was pure win.

How can you forget Watchmen? but for every good movie based on a graphic novel there are many more shitty ones

I doubt anyone cares that you “do comic book movies”. Wanted was a good movie. 300 pretty much set a standard and Sin City is even praised by some of the authors on this site…so why would your negative opinion hold any weight at all as far as what makes a good movie?

You’ve shown nothing that even demonstrates basic knowledge of movies like this so your taste likely sucks altogether.

My guess is, most movies suck to you because you simply don’t like movies like some of us.

That means you are the last person most would go to for a review in the first place…so why respond?

The movie should’ve been called Hit Girl, because she stole the show.

Fuck yeah, she did. I just got back from the theater a little while ago. That shit was much more intense and twisted than I expected. Maybe a little too intense in some parts. I still liked it, and it had a lot of funny parts, but there were some scenes that made me squirm a little. For everyone who hasn’t seen it, don’t ignore the R rating and take your kids. Also, if a little girl ruthlessly killing people bothers you at all… you probably won’t like it.

THIS MOVIE FUCKEN ROCKED! Srsly go see it I thought the preivews looked terribad as well but the reviews of it were quite good so i went. Was fucken SICK! And that dudes GF in it is fucken smoken i love her eyes so big and prutty i just want to see them covered in a big wad of load

very good movie… a little girl killing the shit out of a bunch of grown men was definitely new and interesting twist

I hope to have a daughter someday that is as bad ass as Hit Girl! Nick Cage was pretty good in this too. It was entertaining, funny, unique, had good action scenes, and was an overall good flick that was definitely worth seeing.

I don’t get how you guys thought it was to intense… But I got to say I loved that movie… I didn’t go in there expecting much but it turned out to be thoroughly entertaining.

I definitely recommend this movie… first movie i’ve gone to see in a while and I don’t regret it one bit… I could watch it again

not to give away any spoilers but the first fight kick-ass did was completely unexpected and caught me by complete surprise. I was amused…

Hmm based on some posts like this one and hearing its a lot darker and more twisted than shown I’m tempted to see it… however, I hate every movie Seth Rogen has been in except for Freaks and Geeks.

Is it more in line with Dark Knight or more in line with Kill Bill?

Seth Rogan was in this movie?.. I don’t remember seeing him anywhere. And this movie isn’t dark imo… I don’t know where people are getting that idea from. Its a kill bill ish movie… people get killed in absurd ways etc…

Well, I don’t expect kids less than 12 to be interested in a bodybuilding forum however all kids watch tv commercials. I can see it now, “Mommy!! I wanna go see Kick Ass the movie and Inglorious Bastards!!” I don’t know about you, but those words were punished for saying in my house growing up as well as damn.

Mistook Getinitdone’s post to mean that Seth Rogan is in it.

In other news I am all sorts of confused and thought Seth Rogen and Jonah Hill was the same person. And thought Michael Cera and Evan Peters was the same person. Still not completely sure I’m wrong:
Seth Rogen -vs- Jonah Hill
Michael Cera -vs- Evan Peters

Eh, either way if you said it was more like Dark Knight maybe I’d see it but otherwise I doubt it.
