I would give it a little time before jumping to another diet. However, I’ve had great results with the new T-dawg. My energy levels are great, and I usually lose 2-3 lbs per week with no loss in LBM.

Good Luck!

I have wrote up a comprehensive guide to keto dieting based on my knowledge so far.
if you want to read/critique it etc. etc. go to my website at:

there you will find my email…email me and I’ll attach the file to you (it’s word)…i just haven’t figured how to post it on my site right now, plus no time, but Its a pretty detailed guide)

If I had to take one supplement while dieting and were in a position where my funds were limited (I’m thinking back to my college days and how all I could afford was protein powder and how bad I really wished I could spare 200 on cybergenics - rolling my eyes and chuckling right now) I would take the 4 AD at half dosage and it would last four weeks. You could even cycle on and off every two weeks so it would last you six weeks. If you really watched your funds and saved to use the buy two get one free deal that would last you 18 weeks. You should be one lean human being by then.

I’ve done the keto diet in tha past somewhat sucsessfully, but it was a few years ago. I guess I have to re-adapt. I think what someone said about yo yo’ing back and forth through keto by eating some carbs and haveing a carb day is correct. Your body goes into confusion. I think I’ll do a new zero carb approach for a week a see what happens. I really don’t want to miss workouts due to vomiting though. that really sucks. So cardio can still be done in a carbless diet???

BTW, thanks for the advice,

Wayne

Try www.dpsnutrition.com they have Androsol spray for $27. If you use the spray in the morning for 2 wk on / 2 wk off should last for 8 weeks.

I’d say try to get around 25 or so carbs just to keep it honest…maybe some broccolli (sp) or stir fry mix…also, glycerine doesn’t seem to muck up a keto diet, so setting yourself at zero might be a little harsh…Just keep the calorie balance in mind…no matter keto or not, always try to stay around 500 below mntc (in my opinion)…No prob on the advice…Like i mentioned above, go to my site and check the e-mail and I can send you a little guide I have put together in my spare time.

Thanks H-Man. I’ve finally got up to 230, and over 200 pounds of LBM, I don’t wanna lose that.

I just started Atkins a week ago exactly. Get deliriously happy when the stick turns mauve. Was kinda leery at first, and worry that I’m not gonna lose w/the fat/protein I’m stuffing in my pie hole, but I’ve noticed a few things and so I’m sticking to it:
a) I don’t have that late morning and late afternoon drag where I just have to take a nap; my energy level seems fairly steady through the day.
b) As a migraine sufferer, I notice that when I consume a little too many carbs at once it translates into a headache.

I’m eager yet anxious about my weigh-in on Sunday (my last Weight Watchers meeting; WW sucks rocks w/it’s emphasis on “low points” high-carb foods) to see if I’ve lost any weight this first week.

I’ve found a no-cal sweetener that I like, too. No, not Splenda (sucralose), it’s ok, but I like asulfame K a lot better. Anybody else try asulfame K?

Well I took the advice and got the book. For anyone who is interested go to www.theketogenicdiet.com and you can be reading the PDF within 5 minutes.

To my question - how have you decided between doing CKD or TKD, CKD seems the more popular on the thread but TKD seems to map closer to one of Berardi’s diet recommendations.

Why does ciric acid, found in diet coke, keep u out of ketosis? Does anyone know how much u should be drinking maximum/day?

Sprawl–it *doesn’t keep you out of ketosis…I think all it might do is dilute your urine so that the keto strips don’t pick it up as well. I used to drink a shitload of diet pop while on keto and I never understood why the strips didn’t turn. Yet, I was going to the bathroom constantly. Your main concern if carbs are kept where they should and your calories are set at the right numbers, is how well your weight loss is progressing.

Quick question: Are everybody’s keto diets somewhat similar to T-dawg, or do most of you just keep carbs to 20 or 30 grams a day? I couldn’t hack the <20 grams a day anymore, so I brought carbs back into my diet at around 100 a day for the past few days, using ME meal combinations. I noticed that I would get headaches (the kind I would get when slipping into ketosis) generally towards the end of the day. I was almost training hard and doing consistent cardio. Is this because of caffeine withdrawals, or a sign that I was slipping back into ketosis because I had used up carbs for that day? If this is true, then I was eating just enough carbs to get through my workouts. Is that what I want to strive for, just enough to workout?

MC, I might say that your headaches are the fact that your body is shifting gears and can’t settle on either carbs or fat for fuel. When i keto, I set carbs at 30g per day. When you get into that gray area of carbs (i.e., low, but not ketotic) you start to wreak havoc both on your mental state as well as your traing…I have found that out…Since your body is not proficient at either using fat or fuel, it struggles. As far as setting carbs that low, I think the longer you do it the easier it becomes. Plan out what you might eat, and just do it. I find egg whites, egg beaters, 2TBSP of smuckers natural peanut butter, and any meat or fish are great…Mayo is a huge player on keto diets too. Stay strong bud, once you get into ketosis and your body adapts, you’ll experience much better mental functioning, and I might add excellent gym performance (depending on rep and speed)…Since fat as a fuel is more efficient than carbs, your gym performance can actually get better (keep in mind on a keto you are not only using ketones for fuel, but FFA’s as well which carry 9kcal per gram as opposed to 4.5kcal/gram for a ketone body or “fractured fat”.

Just repeating a question I asked earlier in the thread but didn’t get an answer to. How have you decided between doing TKD and CKD. Seems most of you lean towards CKD, but TKD is more like what Berardi recommends.

Alan,
Sorry for the delay brah. As per my particular liking, i like the Vain-modified CKD…Particular modifications are that A) you stake in ketosis for longer periods of time before carbing up (perhaps 2-3 weeks or more) depending on starting body fat. I don’t like the TKD or the weekly CKD for this reason. Your body likes to either be using fat or carbs for fuel. When you start to decrease carbs to the lower numbers of 50-150g per day but not in full blown ketosis, thats when i find that i struggle the most both in and out of the gym. Once you get in ketosis, you are fine, and mental clarity, as well as gym performance improves. Same thing coming out, for a day or two you might feel “tired” as your body shifts out, but then you re-establish a carb-based metabolism., which leads to my second point.
Since the liver takes about 55% of every carb load (per meal), you don’t want to gush the carb load. I tend to eat mostly low GI on the load (except for the pre-load–honey and blue/blackberries) and the first two hours of the load or so (something like rice cakes or a recovery drink like met-rx anabolic recovery)…since BCAA’s and other supplements are standard throughout the keto period, there is no special reason to tweak them per se during the load
Do not abuse the ECA stack during ketosis and alternate it with Yohimbe to avoid insulin desenstizing effex. Also, ALA Is used standard throughout ketosis and at all times during the reload at 600g per day or more (never exceeding 1000g per day). this helps to both maintain ketosis, and assist in the carb load. If you go to my website posted earlier, e-mail me and I have a guide I typed up based on my experience. Others who have seen it have suggested its helpful.
Hope this helps brah.
Good Luck

Vain68>> relieved on the citric acid thing…=) BTW which oil do u find is best frying in, in terms of healthy fats that promote fat metabolism?

Sprawl,
I might use coconut oil on a keto (actually I always do)…its the purest form of MCT there is, and you can find it in the mediterranian (sp?) section of your grocer. Just make sure to measure the TBSP as it is very dense in kcal. However, just remember the benefits that MCT has on keto: A) promotes and maintains keto state and b) assists in preservation of lbm (given the right quantities). If you don’t like coconut oil, I might suggest Loriva garlic flavored oil. (lots of healthy fats and omegas)
Peace, vain

Dude, can you hook me up with your notes you’ve typed up on keto diets? I went to the address and the page wouldn’t load. Here is my email address: [NOT ALLOWED ON FORUM- MOD] Thanks, MC
