Kerry & Bush Grades The Same!

In order to prove this you’d have to show me why they are losing. Is it because bush is so popular?

Liftus,

You kill me!!!

Anyway, the issue is this: Far too many supposed “intellectuals” have looked down their nose at Bush.

Far too many people have made unwarranted attacks on his intelligence.

You would think that this guy beating your chosed candidates would wake people up.

It’s suprising how many people give all the credit to his campaign managers.

It’s also surprising that people are so hung up on style over substance. I guarantee with Lincoln’s face, his high-pitched voice, and his wart, the same dinks would be making commentary about him lacking the ability to “communicate.”

Finally, give me a guy who says what he means and means what he says any damn day.

Okay, Instead of being ripped apart for my spelling, again. This is supposed to be french–Touche! with an accent over the “e”. MS Word doesn’t translate to HTML very well.

He could have scored exceptionally well on his GRE! In addition most grad schools look at your last 2 yrs as a sign of maturation and scholastic ability.

Are you kidding me…? Just to get my application looked at I had to provide my high school record, my military record, my letters of recomendation, a letter of intent…and a picture of my mom in a zebra outfit.

The GRE is not really needed for Law School–I beleive they usually only care about the LSAT–but please correct me if I’m wrong. The only thing the GRE proves is that you have a basic understanding of undergraduate material. Some programs have their own GRE. Most higher graduate studies programs (PhD, MD, etc) want to know how successful the applicant MIGHT be in the future–i.e. what he will bring to the program. Inorder to do this they must look at ones previous school records. Academic success is the most consistant means.
I am well aware of what it takes to get into grad school; I have been through the Ph.D program for organic chemistry.

Now, weren’t we just saying the Bush didn’t have much ability at public speaking, and that everyone, right and left, agrees on this?

Indeed, give us a guy who can at least say what the hell me means!

Winning the big erection had very little to do with intelligence, it had a lot to do with political moves – which neither candidate was likely to have been very involved with at a personal level.

I would gladly take a guy who means what he says and says what he means–the problem is I don’t like what he says or how he comes across to the rest of the world. I understand you conservatives’ point on how the pseudo-intellectuals come across very demeaning–I too think it’s in poor taste and without class. There are far too many other points to bring up than Bush’s awkwardness.

I believe it was in reference to “usually” only you typo’d

Yea, that Geroge Bush had it all handed to him…not like John Kerry! Now there is a self made man…NOT!

John Kerry’s mother, Rosemary Forbes, was a member of the Forbes shipping family and a descendent of John Winthrop, who helped found Boston in 1630. Her father was an international businessman, and she spent her early years in France at the family’s estate.

Kerry’s father, Richard Kerry, was a graduate of Yale University and Harvard Law School (Hey gang this explains grad school on mediocre grades). Invited to the Forbes estate in France by a friend, Richard Kerry met Rosemary Forbes. They later married.

In 1995, Kerry’s fortunes kicked up yet another notch when he married Teresa Heinz, the widow of Sen. H. John Heinz III. Her net worth around 500 million dollars! His next disclosure report to the Senate included dozens of pages detailing Heinz’s financial portfolio and some of the wedding presents they received, including a mirror with their wedding announcement framed on top from “Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Schwarzenegger” and a Baccarat flower vase from actor Clint Eastwood.

Kerry’s wealth has been a political asset. In 1996, he lent or guaranteed his campaign $1.7 million to fend off a challenge from Massachusetts Republican Gov. William Weld. Late last year, he lent his campaign more than $6 million!

Yea…it’s a shame that Kerry lost to that dang blue blood Bush. Just think we could have had a real self-made man in the White House LOL

while most would agree that Bush’s technical speaking skills pale in comparison to Kerry’s, he does have a common guy kinda speak that does go over well with most Americans. Yes he stumbles a bit at times and yes he mispronounces a word here and there, but his message is usually quite clear and firm. That IS a positive quality.

And I have to take umbradge with your–‘say what the hell he means’ comment. I think Bush does that extrememly well. Again, not in a polished politician way, but in a 2 guys in a bar way. And really, I interpret that better anyways. Cheers!

I don’t know about you (general you) but I’m getting tired of all the damn jabbing about typos and spelling mistakes.
It’s not like any of us “r dooing stff lke this 2 eech other”…I mean, typos happen.
And certain people have words they always spell wrong. BFD.
I happen to know that I’m more correct than most of you most all the time <big fuckin grin!> and I still do it.
I don’t think it’s particularly smart to try to make stupid points from pointing it out.

Rant over.
Carry on.

ZEB

I didn’t know about Kerry’s parents. Nice stuff.

Any ABB’r—your turn!

Sasquatch, I was ripping on Jerffy, no need to defend Bush on that one.

Joe, the point was if someone wants to put down someone else due to speech problems, at least try to spell correctly.
LIFTICVSMAXIMVS wrote:
Kerry doesn’t ususally stutter or mispronounce words and gernerally doesn’t come across as an idiot. I don’t think my complaints about bush were ever his grades. We’ve all partied a little too hard as undergrads.

They were both able to get into grad school somehow. Either because of external influence or because the admitting schools thought them a good gamble. With Bush’s parents who they were there is no doubt in my mind that it was an external influence. As a nobody I would never have been looked at twice by a graduate studies admitting board carrying a C average–that is the point.
Actually, I don’t think this was the case back in the 70s. Don’t forget there has been massive grade inflation since Bush and Kerry both graduated – at least if you believe professors. And this counts doubly for the Ivy League schools. Lots of people who were admitted into top graduate programs back in the 70s had significantly worse grades than those admitted today (though I don’t think that implies those admitted today are smarter).

While now it is ancedotal that you can basically get a C at Yale for spelling your name properly on your scantron, back then they actually were required to work.

Agreeeeeeeeed!
vroom wrote:

rip away–i missed the reference

More importantly, did you see the picture of Kerry in this article:

http://www.boston.com/news/nation/washington/articles/2005/06/07/yale_grades_portray_kerry_as_a_lackluster_student?mode=PF

If that alone had gotten out, he would have lost by at least 5 more points…

BTW, here’s an interesting little factoid from the article:

One of his best grades at Yale was in French… (He got a C+, which would be more impressive if he hadn’t gone to boarding school in the French-speaking half of Switzerland for several years).

The big lie of the left has always been “republicans are stupid.”

They called Dwight D. Eisenhower stupid. Adlai Stevenson was the supposedly the more intellectual of the two.

See the map of the 1952 election where Ike wins 55% of the vote and all but 9 states 442 electoral votes to a mere 89 for the “intellectual” democrat:

http://teachpol.tcnj.edu/amer_pol_hist/fi/000001a6.htm

At that time the liberals were so shocked that an “idiot” like Ike actually won the White House they re-nominated Stevenson again. This time Ike won an even more impressive victory gaining 57.5% of the vote and 457 electoral votes to only 73 for the very, very smart democrat. Note Ike is in blue in this map:

Ike the “idiot” carried all but 7 states!

Then there was the big dope: Ronald Wilson Reagan!

“He is a moron” the intellectual left cried out. “What does an actor know” they screamed. Jimmy Carters IQ was certainly higher the left leaning critics charged.

Reagan was swept into office in a three way race with 50.7% of the vote. Almost 9pts higher than the sitting democratic President, who was considered by all (from the left that is) to be intellectually superior!

http://www.multied.com/elections/1980pop.html

Not believing they could lose to a mere actor they put up Carters Vice President, Walter Mondale to beat down that “idiot” from California. This time around the republican (just like Ike) won by an even larger percentage! Almost 59% of all voting Americans wanted to stick with Ronald Wilson Reagan as their President!

Mondale the “Genius” from the left captured only one state garnering a mere 13 electoral votes. Yet another mandate for the person the left called the stupidest man to ever hold the highest office in the land.

Along comes GW Bush…“what an idiot!” I won’t bore you with the details. I will only state that once again the “dumb” republican (according to the far left) was returned to office with a larger percentage of votes than he was the first time around.

Will the far left ever learn their lesson?

Judging by some of the ridiculous comments on this forum the answer is a resounding NO!

How many republican Presidents have been elected to two terms in the past 50 years? The answer is four! Of those, three were called stupid by the far left.

The far left never learns and in a way I’m thankful for that.
