Keep the damn kids off the lawn

Nice pull. What kind of suit is that?

And I love how you list your kids accomplishments as PRs. Sweet. I picked up my daughter from gymnastics the other day and was over-the-moon thrilled for her when she said she got a record five kips.

Nice pull Pete…looking strong big fella

Thanks Snapper,
Metal Pro, modified with velcro straps.

Thanks, first time in a few months that I have broken 700. I have a mental block. Usually I will pscyh myself up, pop and ammonia cap, try to grip and grip and just get totally out of groove. I was much slower and deliberate, now to start building it up to 750 for October:)

Damn big pull Pete.

I am envious of your gym as well.

nice Kiddie PRs, and good pulling too.

cardio/conditioning:
sled drags
90lb x 70yrd
135 x 70 yrd
170 x 70yrd
205 x 70yrd x 2

elliptical 30 minutes, some intervals, heart rate in low 140s

decline sits 3 x 10 w/70lb

3way cable abs 3 x some

As always great work. And that is my oldest son in the picture. He’s the giant of both families. Chart says he may be over six feet tall. My youngest will be lucky to be my height.

According to those charts I should have been six-two. Didn’t quite make it.

Great pull pete, and love the music in the background, I think the last time I pulled I didnt have my headphones so Lady Gaga had to do, surprisingly it worked and I am now a fan.

I like that 750 idea…PR?

that’s the idea. I am formulating some numbers to base my training off of for October. That is one of them…

Thanks. Funny thing is, usually when going for my big lift of the day at the BB club I will have queued up a specfic song, usually either Agnostic Front or Cro-Mags. On my missed first attempt it was AF’s ‘For My Family’. So when I went for attempt two I didn’t want to be psyched up, just very calm and deliberate, hence I just lifted to whatever the fuck was playing.

Be interested to see how you cycle the deads…

German, going to keep up lots of variations, fair amount of speedwork, top end work, and really focusing on making my core beyond bullet proof. I also need to put some more focus on grip/forearm work, thinking through that right now, any suggestions appreciated. I have the hand size of a 130 lb woman, so need to put additional focus on grip strength right now.

Have you tried/do you do reverse band pulls? I found my grip got a lot better after doing lots of reverse band, cause at lockout lo and behold I was having to hold onto heavier weight than ever previously held or even attempted.

I commented on FB but Ill say it again.

serious good pulling.

nice fucking work.

and DID YOU SAY GRIP WORK ,
I mean - uhm I know a teeny bit about that
about what works for get all that crazy shit.

pull-ups while crushing tennis balls
hold the tennis balls over the bar in your hand.

hex head db holds
kroc rows- but you being on the large side these could get
awkward or silly

you don’t need much more then that.

maybe some holds when doing rack pulls
and
and as ghey as it sounds using the wrist roller.

I no longer do any of this - but my forearms are bigger then my upper arms
also I kind of have big hands for smaller dude.
probably the only reason my pulling is going anywhere

Funny i was just talking to guy who was really into grip strength this past weekend. Ya know one of those old dinosaurs in his mid 60’s now who did grip shit for years and can still pick up heavy as hell 2" db’s like nothing.
Gave me a simple answer as they normally do…heavy lockout deads to increase grip strength for the dead…made sense to me?

this is kind of what I was thinking. when my grip is at its best is when doing rack pulls against chains with a crappy, thick old squat bar. gotten up to doubles with 800+ top end weight.

Pete, do you do your speed pulls after you Dl or on a different day or do you rotate them with DL’s? If you don’t mind my asking.
