Why do we blame being an asshole on mental illness when it’s a rich and famous individual?
The media he used to expose his stupidity? No one told him to go public with his uneducated and racist remarks. He sought attention and now he’s learning about accountability.
I’m not really up on everything Kanye said, so help me out If I get something wrong.
He accused the music industry of being run by powerful people who identify as Jewish?
Result, he gets cancelled by those he criticised. Call me crazy too, but it sounds like there might be some truth to what he’s saying?
I get that most Jewish people aren’t a part of this powerful cabal, just in the same way most Italians aren’t part of the Mafia. Is Kanye calling all Jewish people bad or just a minority of powerful individuals?

He shitlisted himself in an industry. Its not a powerful cabal of anything. Its a bunch of people saying collectively “If thats how you feel about us, then fuck off.”.

Going back to the OP’s, question I also still don’t know exactly what he accused these people, or Jews in general of doing. It would be interesting to actually know.

He still has his talents and abilities. Theres just a group of people who have had enough of his shit.
Like any business cartel, they control the marketplace,who gets promoted, who owns the recording studios, what songs get played on radio stations, algorithms that promote certain artists and ignore others.
If they can get a bank to shut his account, over his personal views, rather than any criminal action, like money laundering or fraud. Fat luck getting another bank to take up his money, if they all agree for some totally unknown reason.
Rapists, child molesters, drunk drivers who kill people don’t have this happen to them. I don’t believe Jeffrey Epstein or Ghislane Maxwell had the same thing happen to them.

You just never know who someone else knows. If Dave says he’s a prick and doesn’t want to deal with him, can you blame anybody else for feeling the same way?

As some are aware I am Jewish. I’ve been in and out of this thread a few times and have refrained from giving my nuanced, totally emotionally-removed take on the matter. That is, I’d like to comment on it with something other than, “Kanye is crazy! He’s mentally ill! He’s anti-Semitic! He said mean things about Jews… and like… I’m Jewish. And also, my grandma and great grandma fled from Europe in 1939! So Kanye has to say sorry or else!”
I’m sure no one is holding their breath for my words, but I’ll think about it.

It says that you believe an individuals actions or words represent an entire worldwide group of people.
He also said he was going to go “death con 3” on Jewish people.
So take that as you will. If you choose to ignore that part and just focus on “the music industry being run by Jews” part like everyone else who’s acting like he’s really speaking some truth, that’s up to you.

You can be both an asshole and mentally ill. They can coexist. I don’t like Kanye and haven’t for many years now, primarily because every song he collaborates on is the worse (IMO) for his participation. His nasally-ass voice and immature lyrics are irritating as hell. I liked Gold Digger and thought his “George Bush hates black people” was hilarious, mostly because Mike Meyer’s face was priceless, but have found most everything else he’s ever done off-putting. Obviously his behavior has gotten worse and worse, seeming to start with the Taylor Swift incident.
None of that but the last has anything to do with mental illness on display. I’m not sure what you mean by “when it’s a rich and famous individual”? We’ve had mania on display on these boards, and it has been distressing enough that people have made sustained efforts to push the sufferer toward treatment.
I am distressed by losses of control at this level. I’m saddened by old people who can’t walk anymore, by anorexics who are skeletal, by dementia sufferers, by alcoholics pissing themselves in the gutter, by people with severe Tourette’s and other movement disorders.
Even if they’re assholes.

Well, this seems like a nice, light-hearted thread to have a cool-headed discussion on.
Is no one going to point out that “Death Con” is an uninformed take on “DefCon”, and that DefCon has literally no implication of “death” or any other form of violence for that matter?

I’m quite sure most people have only heard DefCon in movies and assume it has something to do with death/violence, haha. I have heard multiple people mistakenly say “death” con before. And if you’re actually saying “death” con then I’m willing to bet you assume it has something to do with death/violence.

Maybe… Did Kanye call for the killing of jews or kill any himself after saying he was going death con 3 on them?
If not, I think it was a misunderstanding. Both on his part, and on everyone else’s.
He also mentioned later in an interview with Lex Friedman that he didn’t have a problem with all Jews, just a select few individuals who happen to be prominent and Jewish.
In this same interview he said he was a Jew, along with all black people.
And?
