JW's Cacophonic Come back

Wow a teenager in the house. You’re doomed. Great squatting.

Nice squatting.

13 years old. I am so dreading mine getting to that age. Of course, if she doesn’t get her shit straight, she will never see 13…problem solved.

Dateline: Thursday 4:17 am

Snatchplex: 4 sets 5 reps each movement
Treadmill walk: 30 minutes

I am doing a snatch grip dead lift, power snatch, behind the neck snatch grip OHP, OH squat to a bent row. Once again by the 4th set I was at the puke stage. Decided to do a brisk 30 minute walk on the treadmill afterward.

Off to a quarterly meeting with our new bankers. Hopefully since we have exceeded our budgets for 2011 it will be relatively painless. The more painful thing is my impending descent into Chuck E Cheese hell on Saturday…

JW’s morning thought: “We didn’t actually overspend our budget. The allocation simply fell short of our expenditure.”

Exscaped the Chuck E. Cheese experience caused both boys grew up mostly overseas. Went one time for a niece’s birthday. After a couple of hours the wife said, who’s the kid here, you or her? Enjoy.
I’ve been saying it for a few years now but I’ve got to try me some complexes. Next week, for sure.

Harry I thought I had escaped it too. She went to a couple of b-day parties when she was little. For some reason she wanted party number 13 there… I hope I will survive.

Dateline Saturday: 5:17 am

Squat warm up: 135x20
Decline Bench Press: 135x15, 205x9, 2x255x4, 3x255x3, 2x275x1, 185x12
Incline DB press: 3x85x8
Flat DB press: 3x95x3
Pec deck: 3x120x10
Rev grip incline bench press 3x135x8; super set with triceps push down: 3x190x6

At least I was a little sore later in the day. I don’t think I really wet the world on fire with my training, but I felt it… Thats a good thing! Went and picked up the “prison work crew” van and loaded it up with 10 screaming 13 year olds. Off to Chuck E Cheese we went for the daughter’s birthday party. I think they enjoyed the ride more than the joint! A splendid time for all was had. When we got home the daughter wanted sushi for supper, so it was return the van and slide in for some tuna and salmon sushi. At 9:35pm I was sawing logs!!

Dateline Sunday 5:20 am

Squat warm up: 135x20
Kroc Row: 3x110x8
Standing OHP 3x135x8
Haney shrug in the Smith: 3x135x15
Lat pull down: 3x150x8 super set with face pull: 3x110x8
Rev Fly: 3x35x8
Rickshaw shrug: 3x320x5
Rack pull: 3x275x4

Not a stellar training day but today I am sore front to back. I did get some work in. (funny how I use the soreness factor to gauge my workouts) Had to get home and get everyone ready for church. The daughter had her first gig as a soloist. She did a great job singing. When the church paid her for singing she got all upset and tried to give the money back. Her voice teacher told her this was normal so she calmed down and ran off to post her photo with a check on Facebook… The kids these days!

JW’s morning thought: The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that it has never tried to contact us… especially after watching Muammar Gaddafi and Charlie Sheen on TV this week…

Dateline Tuesday: 4:15 am

Squats: 135x10, 185x8, 5x225x5
Glute ham raise: 3xbwx8
Ab stuff: A whole damn lot
Treadmill walk: 10 minutes

Squats felt good and I feel like I’m finally getting some depth consistently. I like this 5x5 routine with squats. I’m going to raise the weights next time. I received some DB hooks in the mail. I may do a heavy DB chest workout in the morning to try them out.

JW’s morning thought: As a small businessman you gotta be smart; I realize there’s no free lunch. On the other hand, I know where to go to get a good inexpensive sandwich.

You seem to be doing frequent squats, is that by design?

I dont know if I do anything by design any more, Joe. My squats have always been a weak point for me. I know my deadlifts will have some issues. It seems years of operating the saw carriage have started some carpal tunnel in my hands and it effects my grip. I dont think I will ever compete in lifting. I do have a hankering to throw or drag something. So i just figured I’d work like hell on my squats and bench press.

Boy folks in my life are right… I do tend to take the long way around telling a story…

Nice work, Wilson. Glad to hear that the squats are starting to feel right. Upping the weight is a good thing.

New toys, huh? Looking forward to the report.

Not the long way…just informative.

Dateline: Friday 4:17 am

Squats: 135x10, 185x5, 5x235x5
Glute ham raise: 3xbwx8
Ab thingies: 3xbwx10

Broke from a funk and made it to the gym. SSSSSOOO I squatted. I guess if I do anything I’m going to figure out how to squat. Maybe on Monday I may do some zerchers… Who knows? I did the ab thingies where you hang from your arms and try to raise your knees to your chest. I’m sore from Monday so I will really be sore now. Tomorrow I’m going to break out my new dumbbell hanger thingies.

JW’s morning thought: I realize that I have to train early in the morning, before my brain figures out what I’m doing.

Stardate:Friday 3/11/2011 8:19 am

Squatting is a good way to break a funk. I’ve noticed when I squat heavy on a regular basis all my other numbers go up. Be interesting to see if it happens for you.

Zerchers are the way to go. If you goal is to feel really, really sore.

where did you end up getting dumbell hooks from?

The place you suggested. They are pretty cool and they shipped fast.

Dateline Saturday 5:10 am

Squat warm up: 135x20
Decline Bench Press: 135x15, 205x10, 3x255x3, 2x255x4, 2x275x2, 185x10
Flat DB press: 4x95x4
Incline DB press: 3x70x8
Pec Deck: 2x135x10
Rev grip incline press: 3x135x6 super set with triceps push down: 190x6, 190x4, 190x3

Used the Power Hooks for the first time. If I’m going to use them with incline presses I need to set up in the power rack. They hang down just enough that I have to start right in the middle of my weak spot. I will turn this to my advantage, and train that weak spot a bit more. I like them. Hopefully They will help with the heavy DB work.

Dateline Friday 5:18 am

Squat warm up: 135x20
Kroc Row: 3x110x8
OHP: 3x135x7 super set with Haney shrug in the Smith: 3x135x15
Lat pull down: 3x150x8 super set with face pull: 2x110x8
Hise shrug: 3x315x10

Stopped my back training with the Hise shrug. Seems dumb ass Wilson FORGOT the had 315 on is back and thought he could ‘good morning’ the weight back into the hooks. Well, that tweaked my back right around the lower left lat. Its a little stiff and sore today. Coupled with adjusting to Daylight Savings Time, I slept in. Hopefully I will squat tomorrow. May try to do some big partials and walkouts for shits and grins.

JW’s morning thought: Only in America - do we buy hot dogs in packages of ten and buns in packages of eight

I don’t have the cojones to try 20 reps of anything, much less squats. Next time I don’t have to work for a week or so I may try it. Or not. Kroc rows are still outstanding.

looks like you’re getting pretty consistent again. Great work.

Dateline: Thursday 4:15 am

Barbell complex: 4 sets by a bunch of reps
Treadmill interval: 20 minutes

What better way to start your workouts back than with a complex. I’ve been in a personal funk the last week or so and couldn’t drag myself out of bed. there were some days I didn’t remember cutting my alarm off. So now I’m trying to shake the cobwebs out of my brain and get my ass training for something. I’m looking forward to getting sore again.
