JW's Cacophonic Come back

Well, if the forecast is right, there won’t be shorts and t-shirts for Christmas…at least not out side. Low of 21 high of 37. Sounds like a good day to keep a fire going.

Nice squats. Good reps at 285#. Send me some mojo. I’ll return it Christmas Eve, with interest.[/quote]

That was a typo Skip. It’s supposed to be 185x8. No mojo there!

It’s all good. And about 185# more than I am squatting these days. And I don’t need to borrow a lot. Maybe 15# worth?

Ok, next time you feel cold, this’ll make you feel better. Top pix, the site head MFIC, bottom pix, 3rd from right in military parka, yours truly. Good part is we flew from Christchurch, New Zealand which was beautiful.
Only assistance I can think of helps squats is more squats. Romanian DLs really hit my hammies so I guess that’s helping some and not sure but the front squats may be helping my back squats. Your workouts are really looking good.

Dateline Wednesday: 4:58 am
Bench assistance

Floor Press:135x15, 225x8, 2x275x2, 225x5, 135x8
Hammer incline 2x70x10, 70x6 super set with crazy bell decline bench press: 195x6, 195x4, 195x2
OH triceps extensions: 140x10, 150x10, 160x7

I slammed through this workout in about 37 minutes. It really was fun and I could see the toll the lack of rest between sets took on my strength. All alone in the gym this morning. I think my early morning crew has hit the road and given up on me.

JW’s Morning thoughts:
The Association of Southern Colleges and Universities has decided to pursue the seemingly endless
taxpayer dollar pipeline through Washington designating Southern slang, or
“Hickbonics,” as language to be taught in all Southern schools.

A speaker of this language would be a Hickophone. Hickbonics is currently a requirement for graduation at North Carolina State University and is used extensively in the agriculture, furniture, and many forms of engineering. Damn Harry! Those photos make me cold just looking at them!

Dateline: over the holiday:

I hope everybody enjoyed a safe and prosperous Christmas Holiday. Sorry I haven’t posted in a while. I had a busy holiday with a lot going on, both in the holiday sense and personally. We took off 3 days from work, to manage our change over of our banks. I managed some bench training, some back training and some squats. Nothing to remark, really. I’ve added OHP’s to the works on the bench day. I started with 4 sets of 6 with 115 lbs. I really felt that in my lats.

I guess its because I haven’t done them in a while. Did 2 sets of 2 with 275 in my bench progression. Krocs and rack pulls all the normal jazz during my back day. Grip still sucks. I’m beginning to reside myself to that fact my grip will always suck out loud.

Squatted yesterday again. I tried to do my squats as I do my bench progression. On the second set of 245x4 I kinda 'good morning’ed" it and tweaked my back a little bit. I’m in a bit of a conundrum. I may keep the squat progression and dial the weights back a bit or try a normal boring 5x5.

We got about 10 inches of snow here. Spent a lot of time digging out, but I did take the wife and daughter out to cut doughnuts and figure 8’s in the empty Walmart parking lot…

JW’s cold and snowy thought: I have sixteen cans of coffee; together they hold a total of thirteen and a half pounds of coffee. Doesn’t that seem like cheating?

JW- Sorry about the back thing! Hopefully its a very minor tweak and will settle itself out in a few days.

10 inches of snow…that’s a dusting around here!! Actually we got the same on Sunday night…the wet, heavy, heart attack snow…

Keep banging away at the training young man…and a Happy and Fruitful New Year to you!

Good looking training. And good on taking the wife and daughter for doughnuts and figure 8’s in the parking lot, that sounds like fun. Even though I am in the mountains, I don’t have snow, just 25 at night. Makes for a long trip to the outhouses and showers.

Thanks OG and UN42. I hope everybody enjoyed their New Year holiday and have a safe, productive, and exciting 2011.

Dateline Friday 7: 30 am
Squat day

Squats: 135x12, 185x8, 4x225x4, 2x275x1, 205x8

I’m putting a renewed effort on my squatting. So Friday I began my New Year resolution early. I squatted. I realized when I got tired i tried to ‘good morning’ the weight up and my back doesn’t like that. I’m going to add some good mornings in in time. Lowered my working sets and tried to be anal about form. I think I will make progress.

Dateline Saturday: 8:07 am
Push day

Bench press: 135x15, 205x10, 4x255x4, 2x275x2, 224x7
Incline DB press: 3x65x10
OHP 95x10, 115x6, 135x2
OHP lock outs 95x14, 116x6, 135x4
Triceps push down: 2x190x10

Gotta little bit sick to my stomach and I stopped. I think it was the rich food on New Years Eve. 2 glasses of Chianti, bruschetta de fungi, focacccia with smoked salmon and marscepone cheese, Beef Wellington and tartufo gelato with strawberry sauce. We had some damn good Italian food!!

Dateline Sunday 5:30 am
Pull Day

Kroc row: 3x110x8, 3x125x4
Hammer lat pull down: 3x70x8
Rickshaw shrugs: 3x270x10
Rack pulls: 3x275x4

Not much to report other than my grip sucks big ole… well… wind… I ain’t never gonna be a big puller. I just seem to get no where with my grip.

Dateline Monday: 4:04 am
Squat day

Squats: 135x12, 185x8, 4x225x4, 2x275x1, 205x8

Some body brought a wrench and turned around the squat pins in the rack. No looking at a mirror. THAT really did help and made me concentrate on form and looking up. Squats, albeit weak felt much more natural this morning.

JW’s morning thought: My life runs on coffee and gasoline, the first often tasting like the second.

Squats looking good JW.

I too have made 2011 the year of the squat so lets really add some weight to it.

Looking good.
Re: the grip, the two things that helped me the most were avoiding straps and, most importantly, chalk. Chalk is good for 50lbs+. Otherwise, my hands slip.

Looking real good. Kinda/sorta got it in my head squats may be the key to farther throws so I’m hitting them this year, too. Group squat!

It’s been a while, and it felt good to be back in the gym. I guess my personal demons kinda held me hostage for a bit. Didn’t have much motivation and life was just all around suckish. I’m sure my training will be aimless and lack direction for a while… I have a slight case of DOMS, so I did do something right…

JW’s morning thought: We make our friends; we make our enemies; but God makes our next-door neighbor.

Getting in and doing anything is better than doing nothing. You’ll be back at it soon enough.

how you liking the crazy bells? i haven’t had the balls to try those before

Aimless and lack of direction training is something I practice quite regularly.
