Just Started TRT

you might want to check out thyroid-rt3.com

it is a great site with lots of good information of rt3 issues with good advice.

What are anyones thoughts on this to use as well as normal treatment? My mom can get this from her work for 6 dollars. (click on the label to view it.)

I can’t see the ingredients which is odd.

so no idea if it is worth it.

some take iodine and selenium and iron to try and boost their thyroid function… but I really really suggest some more research/reading like thyroid-rt3.com

well the site talks about homeopathically prepared blah blah blah… I haven’t heard anything positive about homeopathic treatments.

Thanks i was just thinking if it helped at all its just 6 dollars. Might try it because of that.

Cactus i hope you see this but my PMs are broke so i am unable to reply. If you want me to reply in the forum let me know or you can email. Email is in my hub.

I was wondering if anyone could suggest whre i could by some anastrozole? My doc refuses to perscribe it so now its time to self medicate. He will still order estradiol tests he just doesnt beleive they are accurate enough to perscribe an AI with a reading in the 40’s

If you dont want to post you can PM me (i cant reply) or email me.

Quick update.

Doc has put me on T3/T4 combo. 12mcg of T3 and 100mcg of t4 a day.

I have been doing my morning temp everyday for a week and the lowest its been is 96.9 and highest is 97.1

I am thinking i need some more T3 and less T4. T4 has never really done much for me.

Also i have been researching adrenal fatigue but i really dont want to be taking anythign more. And from what i have read hydrocortisone and the like sound like the treatment. I really want to avoid this does anyone have advice for treating adrenal fatigue without more percriptions and drug dependence i want to keep that to a bare minimum

IsoCort is an over the counter supplement. has approx. 2.5 mg Hydrocortisone per pill. more info on thyroid-rt3.com I think.

I was looking there and STTM and both suggest it but that seem still like more then i would like to really do (seems like they do that with more serious cases) i would rather start with least invasive and move up from there

I was thinking of Rhodiola (cant find how much) and licorice root.

Then if that is not working move to http://www.myadrenalfatigue.com/reviews/adrenal-revive (this seems to be a bit more serious then just some adaptogens and herbs. It has adrenal cortex extract which some say is a lot like isocort.)

Also wondering about the morning temp being low but steady… would that point away from adrenal fatigue? I realize that means low thyroid still. Its hard for me to measure through the day and find a good time where i havent been moving and or drinking something which really throws off the readings.

Most respected medical professionals have rejected the idea of “adrenal fatigue”…hypoadrenia is a more apt description that is actually accepted in the medical literature…I am in this camp as well (despite being treated for “adrenal fatigue” when I first started figuring out what was going on with me)…

I’m in favor of treating the biggest red flag first, and not arseing myself unnecessarily…try the thyroid meds out first, get those dialed in…if you’re still having issues, then start investigating other avenues and additions…don’t complicate things until you have to…

You need to give the thyroid meds time to work…

The fact that your T4 was low along with T3, leads me to believe the best fix would be for you to be on T4 meds and see if they work…some prefer to start with T3 to dial it in (due to the shorter half life making it easier to adjus ton the fly) then move onto T4 once they figure out the plasma levels they feel the best at, but it is what it is…

The fact that your temps are constant (but low) would back up the assertion that you do not have cortisol issues, and will be well treated with thyroid meds alone

@VTballa: thanks for your input i allways appreciate it

I have been on T4 meds only for 9months before i switched to a combo of t3/t4. The t4 did nothing for my T3 levels. They stayed at the exact same point for 9months. I dont think my body converts it or doesnt do it very well. My sympotoms also never got any better and actually got worse as the T4 dose was increased. NOw with the t3/t4 combo the symptoms are coming back down and my morning temp has increased a bit but i think my plan will be more t3 and less t4 or t3 only.

I will keep working on the thyroid i am just really hoping i dont have to take on another inless to my 2 that i have. Quite frustrating.

have you ever talked to your doctor about testing your 8am Cortisol levels? just to see where they are at?

yep and they have been tested. one year ago they were at 18 and 2 months ago they hadn’t changed 3 weeks ago it was around 13

what started to worry me was the last one. that was after 6 weeks of my highest dose of t4 only. after that I switched to a combo been on that since (3weeks now). my symptoms of brain fog and fatigue were as bad as they ever had been at the end of that high dose

have you posted this recent bloodwork with the cortisol and T4 levels (while on thyroid meds), etc? I may be missing it…makes it sort of hard to give good advice shooting in the dark

probably not the most recent. I will be able to post once I get home today.

free t3 was 2.1
t4 was in the middle of the range can’t remember
cortisol was 13 (low end of normal)

the thyroid has not changed since I started treatment. the cortisol dropped 5 since 6 weeks before last lab work

Labs run 11/10

Free T4 0.81 (0.76-1.46)
Free T3 2.1 (2.3-4.2)
Total Test 625 (250-1000)
Estradiol 45 (13-54)
Cortisol 8am 13.4 (4-22)
Acth 15 (6-50)
Igf-1 280 (83-456)

The total test that was at my lowest between shots so maybe not that bad. Estradiol is too high so i am self medicating with 0.5mg of anastrazole (waiting for it to come). The free t3 is in the same spot as it has been since i started treatment of T4 only a year ago. Now i am on t3/t4 combo wrote out how much in earlier post. Acth is down from the last measure (dont rember when but its posted). Igf is the same not much variance. Cortisol is lower than every test from the start of treatment till this test.

Also a couple posts up i talked about what i want to do for thryoid treatment as well as how symptoms have been. Thanks for anyhelp or insight ahead of time.

I would like to thank the member that helped me find anastrazole online. I ordered it and it should be here in a week or so. I would reply by PM but they are broke.
