You build muscle from protein.
Exactly.
Why you would choose fish oil over a protein powder when your primary goal is muscle mass is beyond me.
I don’t follow your logic…
if protein is paramount then protein powder to insure your are ingesting sufficient amount of protein would be my first choice… don’t get me wrong good fats are important but protein first…
That’s what I was saying.
As a BODYBUILDING supplement, protein should be a primary choice for most people.
Fish oil is going to keep you healthy, but it’s not going to add extra protein to meals that are lacking.
my bad I did not read your commits correctly… I concede to your point…

You could easily get your BCAAs and Protein from food, but there’s no way anyone wants to eat enough fish each day to get their healthy fats. Throw my vote for Flameout.

as always you are wise… but fish oil is not the only way to get your fats… coconut oil, natural peanut butter, flax oil… and virgin olive oil… most are dirt cheep and can be had at most stores…
well it’s a toss up so get both and live without soap or something… ha ha…

Well, of course you could get any type of nutrient totally from food. THe easiest being protein. And yes, you can get all of your fats from real food sources, it just seems easier to me to get more protein in your diet than good fats, especially if you’re used to high doses of omega 3’s. I know that not only do my joints feel better taking about 12-20g of fish oils a day, but I’m naturally leaner, even I’m not cutting. I don’t think I’d even WANT to eat enough fish each day to keep that up -lol

“1. I start and end all supplement discussions with Flameout. Take it. A lot of it. 2. The best supplement from a cost to benefit ratio is orange flavored sugar-free Metamucil. I go twice a day as is, I’m good thanks

Insulin WILL make you grow. BCAA’s and protein increase the likelihood that you’ll grow.
Don’t BCAAs stimulate IGF-1 production?

They may play a role as they play a role in a number of different processes, a fact that would suggest that BCAA’s will help with muscle development. I take them and really like the results I’ve been getting. If someone can afford to take them I would suggest taking them, but only after they’re taking carb powder and whey protein post workout.
I don’t really consider protein a supplement, considering how widely available it is in a variety of easily-obtainable foods.
Fish oil (or rather, DHA and EPA) is fairly hard to come by. The best natural sources of it include plankton, small fish like anchovies and sardines, as well as bone marrow. Mmmmmmmm!
Not a hard choice for me. Fish oil.
