One Supplement...What Would it Be?

Being a college student, I don’t run into money all the time. I’m looking for one (or maybe two) supplements that you guys would recommend the most over others as the ones you felt most effective. Here is what I’m taking now:

Multivitamins
Fish Oil
Meal Replacement shakes (balance of protein, carbs, and fat for post workouts)

Also, I’m looking to burn fat while gaining lean muscle and strength (not so much size as of yet). Does anyone have any suggestions on what 1 or 2 supplements might I need that are considered essential for these goals? Any advice is welcome, thanks.

Low-carb Metabolic Drive or another protein powder of the same quality. This should be your first purchase of the month after glossy porn mags.

Or Superfood which makes you immortal…nearly.

Surge.

You can get everything else from food.

Metabolic Drive isn’t cost effective enough imo

Surge imo.

HOT-ROX

although I have never taken it, I’m tired of drinking coffee all day

everything you need CAN come from food - although Grow! or Surge are very convenient.

I’m assuming since your @ college you have some sort of meal plan or a pre-determined amount of money for food…just use that wisely. “All you can eat” is awesome…just go get meat!

Fish oil and a good Multi will be great.

I like HRX; but I wouldn’t say you “need it” if you can eat properly you should be able to lean out.

Idk, based on what you’re already taking I’d say grab some BCAA’s and something to ensure complete nutrients, like Superfood or greens, maybe some creatine.

fish oil makes me feel fucking amazing, couldn’t imagine not taking it.

protein powder is just food, can be replaced with meat, nuts, eggs.

Superfood is fucking fruits/veggies

Surge is great.

Creatine is cheap enough even for students.

Fish oil.

Do you mind if I ask you how much you take? I take one serving of Flameout and like it a lot. A lot of people around here seem to take a lot more though.

Ok great,. thanks for the advice guys! I’ll take a look at Surge, Grow! Whey, and some creatine/BCAA supplements and see what works. Also, I’ve seen alot of whey protein being sold with BCAA’s combined. Are these just as good as taking BCAA’s by itself in capsule or powder form? Or is trying out the combination work just was well?

All dairy proteins contain BCAAs, as well as all the other essential amino acids, by nature.

People usually take BCAA supplements because they want much higher dosages than provided in their normal protein sources.

Well Flameout contains 1156mg of total free-fatty acids per capsule, I don’t take Flameout since I can’t afford it/find any in the UK.

So instead of Flameout I take some other capsules that have 952mg of free-fatty acids per capsule, I take around 20 a day, which would be equivalent to 16-17 Flameout capsules.

I am going to order some liquid fish oil (cheaper overall) and try and get in 20,000mg of free-fatty acids per day from it.

I can’t tell you how great this makes me feel - I started taking it last month, it’s as if i jumped into someone elses body, and now I always have crazy amounts of energy.

It’s a big mistake to compare Flameout to other fish oil products based on its free-fatty acid content as you can find much less expensive sources for free fatty acids.

As previously discussed, you should be comparing the DHA and EPA content to that of other products since Flameout is so highly concentrated with these active consituents.

Besides food. I’d have to say Carslons Fish Oil (orange flavor is the best). Recuperate alot faster with it. Joints overall feel real healthy. Cholestrol is in optimal range.

Fish Oil, everything else can take care of itself with the right nutrition plan. But who can afford or wants to eat a fatty cut of fish 3+ times a day?

I’ve got to echo the fish oil rec’s. But I would make it Cod Liver Oil. Significantly different than fish oil. Vitamin A and D along with some K2. A piece of forgotten wisdom from our grandparents. It is also important to “taste” and oil as opposed to capsules. Tasting aids in the digetstion of fats/oils.
