Just Introducing Myself

Oh man. So it stops short, eh?

I’m nowhere near being able to take the trolley every few days. I was going to drive down to maybe Chula and hop on.
Just wanted to ride it to make my return hopefully easier since I’ll be carrying a handful of sombreros and a pocketful of pesos.

Thanks for the tips on how to act down there. Makes sense since nobody likes an ass. Owell, time for plan B; whatever that is. lol…[/quote]

You bet.

Just be courteous, friendly, and show a little effort with the Spanish- That shit will go a long way down there. Trust me! If you act like a typical gringo (like you own the fucking place)- Then, expect anything and everything from bunk gear, to a whole myriad of possible problems. I always smiled, tipped well, and told a few jokes.

As a result, they thought I was a good guy (not a gringo that takes advantage of everyone) and they treated me like family. Good luck and remember- No need to bring the gear stateside.

This is a very important life lesson. Even if you are smarter or better than someone else, if you want something from them you have to act practically the opposite. Put them on the pedestal so to speak.

You even this sometimes in forums, people come ask a question as a first post and they are cocky in their text. Then someone gives advice but they tell them they are wrong and to fuck off they wanted the ‘vets’ to answer. This was an old troll of this forums problem his name was ‘Boxer’ HAHA.

Good stuff!

*Yup, you are in their country. They deal with enough arrogant dickheads, on a daily basis. Don’t act sheepish, or clueless, because you don’t want to appear weak, or like an easy mark. However, by showing them that you have an equal respect for them as a people and a country- it will 9 times out of 10 make them feel more relaxed, and they’re almost always more helpful. Do unto others- “the golden rule kinda shit”. Tried and true.

Absolutely… it is how i live too.
