NOTES
Missed reps, but not too worried about it. All reps were clean and fast and didn’t want to grind out reps just to get there. My upper body looks PUMPED as hell. It’s crazy lol.
8’s phase is done! Can’t wait for the 5’s starting next week!
Question for you: if I remember correctly you live in Denver, right? My dad just got there to spend the weekend with some buddies. Any recommendations for places to eat or anything?
Lowdown Brewery (off of Lincoln) - Get a tripel if available!
Denver Biscuit Co (off of Broadway) - get any biscuit sandwich but GET the cinnamon roll no matter what!
For drinks and sights I would say Union Station. If you dad likes a strong whiskey, there is a speakeasy called the “Cruise Room” close to there that’s pretty dope to check out!
Also if he has time he should definitely go watch a Rockies game, since it’s the home opening weekend!
I don’t know if you feel comfortable answering, but do you ever use any marijuana products? He does, and probably plans on checking out some stores down there. I’m sure he could find them but just wondering if you’d know of any, or if that’s not really your thing.
What are RDL’s like for you? I’ve always used like 135lbs, maaaybe up to 185lbs, even when my deadlift was much higher, just because I felt like it turned into a deadlift otherwise. Do you “feel” it in your hamstrings or anything, or do you just do it for more strength?
RDL are easier than deadlift for me. I feel it plenty in my glutes and hamstrings. I think I like sticking to 315-355 for RDLs. Once it goes over 355 it feels like a different movement to me.
Anywhere where there are dispensaries, there are LOTS of dispensaries and unless you’re the biggest snob in the world, they all have huge varieties of medical quality bud, papers, pipes, edibles, vaporizers, and everything you could want.
Fun story: I went to Seattle to visit my sister, and picked up some bud at a dispensary, and the guy gives me a receipt and says “there’s a taco truck outside. Give them this receipt and you get two free tacos.” I was like, “YOU ARE THE SMARTEST BUSINESSMEN IN THE WORLD!” I got 4 tacos.
Sounds like a good deal for him, but how do the taco guys profit? I don’t know, maybe I’m dumb.
But yeah, he found a few, which I knew would happen, just wondered if there were any “good” ones. I’ve never been anywhere that has dispensaries besides Amsterdam. Didn’t know how it worked.
Was that trip recent? I’ve got some family in Seattle - maybe next time I visit I’ll have to see if that deal is still going on.
I got 4 tacos. 2 were free. Wouldn’t have gotten any if I hadn’t been to the dispensary. Tacos from stands are pretty small. Most people would get something else, and most stoned people would get everything else.
I went to Amsterdam years ago - it’s treated more like a controlled substance in the US. You give your ID to a bouncer outside the dispensary and get it back when you leave. Once you’re inside, it’s like any head shop. People are generally friendly and enjoy talking about strains and products. Your dad will not be disappointed.
And yes, like 4 months ago. This was in the Beacon Hill area of Seattle. Nothing like some good bud and a bike ride up the mountains, ending at a brewery. When you’re done with your beer, it’s 18 miles downhill back to the car. There’s a part of me that would move to WA in an instant, and I’d do it even if there was no legal bud - that’s just a bonus. It’s a beautiful state, and it’s hard not to be active and outdoorsy. Go there hike/ride/kayak/anything!
Yeah I’d love to move to WA or OR just for the scenery. Everything I’ve seen has been beautiful, and the weather is just what I like. I’ve never been hiking or kayaking but I like to tell myself I’d do it all the time if I had the places to go to. The flat, endless prairie here gets a little boring at times.
That sounds like an awesome day! Biking to the brewery, working up that thirst, then cruising downhill after! Sweet!! Gotta get out to WA and OR. Two of the four states I haven’t visited.
Fuck yeah. It was awesome. Had fries topped with roasted shredded duck and onions, and a large beer. The ride up was literally on the side of a mountain, gravel trail, 18 miles uphill but at a really easy grade. I broke my foot 1 week before doing the ride, actually haha. I definitely prolonged the healing process but it was just a metatarsal fracture, so more painful than actually damaging. We also went kayaking around a lake, climbing at a nice sized rock wall, and rode around Seattle during the 3 days I was there. Didn’t even scratch the surface of everything to do.
NOTES
Missed a bit too many reps today for my liking but this was due to fatigue and I’ve eaten like a peasant the last 2 days. I have to keep up with my eating to really benefit with this program.
