Agreed a bazillion . Since this is s one person sport bad calls that deny lifts are ignored while shaky lifts that are passed are vilified .
Think of a football game . You’re called out of bounds on a good td catch , everyone goes wild .
In a sport that few care about , who cares? It’s not like the ipf has to have a conference on espn about it’s shaky officiating .
I hate seeing good lifts get redlighted, but I have to say - we’re only human. I did pretty much the exact same thing to a lifter last meet. Someone looks locked out to me, and I give them a down command, and then they lock it out a wee bit more. The alternate, is he takes my down command, and the side judges red light him. I look like a moron.
I think this is exacerbated by having referees who haven’t competed in decades, and frequently the IPF level refs aren’t active competitors.
Sorry to see your experience, but nice lifting.
Human error is the problem for many sports. Is the solution taping from multiple angles and having instant reply?

I agree, poor call on the judge. With judging there is an element of human error, too lax or too strict. Even though I do not agree with every policy/action of the USAPL or IPF, I think it is the best organization in powerlifting.

That’s a shitty call. Red lighting a clean lift like that is as bad for the sport as passing the bogus garbage. Can the jury not step in on a lift like that and overturn the judges’ call?

Agreed . You train for months , make a limit lift
and a goofy judge turns it down . It’s frustrating to no end . Especially us who have heard about the great judging by ipf referees .
A lift turned down is as bad as a lift passed . I’d say worse because you did it and get nothing for your efforts .
