I just rented this film. I’m sure many of you have seen it - if you haven’t, I encourage you to.
It is a documentary of a reporter’s time as part of GWB’s press corp. during the 2000 election. It takes you from Bush showing up at Bowling Alleys in backwoods towns all the way up to becoming the President Elect.
Bush actually seems like a pretty likable guy, though certainly a doofus, a goofball, and a bit of a flirt (that’s right conservatives, Bush clearly wanted a “piece” of the journalist!) with poor nutrition habits (PB & J, balogna and cheese, and cheesedoodles).
Some highlights for me were of Karen Hughes feeding him lines and Bush repeating them verbatim, Bush doing just about anything not to answer a serious question even in casual settings, Bush explaining his cowboy wardrobe from head to toe, and Bush giving the reporter a fairly unwarranted peck on the cheek.
It demonstrates that bush is a down to earth guy, he is clearly intelligent, and he is much better spoken when he is not infront of a mob of reporters…its pretty funny too.
its really not. He is not a rocket scientist certainly, but he is a smart guy and clearly not the idiot the left like to paint him as.
I would encourage everyone to see this actually. I think its a very flattering portrayal of the president even though its clearly made to try and discredit him.

You say this just as your idol is recovering from quadruple bybass surgery?
Just goes to show you that the left is indeed a ‘do as I say, not as I do’ bunch of hypocrites
Do you dream about George W. Bush too? Seems you are awfully preoccupied with the President. Spend more time and thought on your studies man. When you want to rent a movie, go get “Rocky.” Give it rest!
The Democratic Party so desperately wants to be the party of the common man, but when Bush shows that he is personable and affable, which the common man appreciates, they become cold aristocrats and show disdain for folksiness. The schizophrenia continues.
And yet, I would like to see this film. It’s good to see politicians when they aren’t ‘on’, even if it isn’t always flattering.
As to Bush’s healthy lifestyle, I can’t vouch for his diet, which may be crud, but apparently he boasts a 7 minute mile.

C’mon man – Bush does a great enough job painting himself as an idiot…he needs no help in that regard! I don’t see how you guys could argue THIS point – typical Reps. don’t even try.

You musn’t have seen it then – because the journalist/“filmmaker” does not portray him in any sort of negative light. They are usually quite complimentary of him, although they take their shots at times, but in terms only of their opinion. The journalist seems to rather enjoy the relationship she and Bush established during their travels…though she does have to look past Bush’s inappropriate comments and actions to keep it professional…(she definitely didn’t want the peck he gave her during a brief q & a).

Clinton is not my idol. Why do you respond as though pointing out his eating habits is some sort of attack on Bush?

Uh, no. I am interested in the election and presidential politics and I stumbled upon the film in my local…eh, why the hell would even try to justify my film selections to ZEB?
Has anyone thought about the fact that George Bushs’ political strategists, perhaps, just maybe, convinced him to fumble a few words in public to seem more down to earth and relate more to the common guy. Whateverthetruth may eb, I’m still voting or him, I certainly can’t have some phony like Kerry, who promises everything to everybody. If anyone here is an economist you would realize that most of his economic promises are about as solid as the defication I took this morning, nothing but a classic demagogue to appease the sheeple.

Um, of course not! These strategists would have been fired in a moment’s notice! Clinton never had a hard time appealing to Joe Public, despite his exceptional education and accomplishments.
