Persians tend to have more in common with Northern Indians/Pakistanis than Arabs. Plus there’s that whole Shia/Sunni thing (most Arabs are Sunni, Persians are mostly Shia), the Iran/Iraq war etc. Personally I don’t like being called Arab because I’m not, heheh.

Majority of Iranians in america will call themselves Persian… Especially in LA because they don’t like associating with the country because of disputes with the government etc… In Iran its mixed and matched depending on the conversation but in the end they’re both the same.

I know many arabs from Gaza and the West Bank. Not once have I heard them refer to themselves as “Palestinians.”

In fact, we generally laugh and can spot Europeans or Americans who use this made-up word. “Palestinian” translates literally to “Philistene.” The Philistense were Greek, from the Island of Crete.

Arabs are proud arabs, not some crap people made up for the media.
