Seriously though, the whole Arab/Israeli thing is manufactured bullshit. A friend of mine, from Bahrain too, is of the opinion that the Gaza conflict is played up in the media there to take attention of local issues (like our version of the Parliament being useless, an overgrown Royal family, fucked public education, ineffective police etc).

8 years back, before I left, there were articles about the Gaza issue everyday in the local papers. Normally this would be great, except they were one sided fluff pieces designed to set Israel as another Nazi Germany and Palestine as the French Resistance. School textbooks too. There’d be poems about taking back ‘Al Quds’, Jerusalem, and dying a martyr. Christ I was lucky to have level headed parents.

All the while, the Arab League sits on their asses when it comes to aiding the ‘Palestinian cause’. Propaganda at it’s finest. Take a serious issue, cloud it with religious and cultural overtones. Suddenly it turns into: “The Western devils are responsible for all our problems, because they support Zionist pigs”. Now sit back and fuck your country over.
