Jon Stewart Highlights the Hypocrisy

I’m just curious smh - when I walk through Bondi / Watsons Bay / Bellvue Hill etc on a Saturday morning there’s Israeli guys in sunglasses outside every synagogue acting as security, asking strangers who they are / what they’re doing etc. They’re just being melodramatic right? Drama queens right? I mean it’s no more likely they’ll be harmed than some Puerto Rican guy. That’s what you’re saying isn’t it?
What I’m saying is that, as appears to have become your wont, you said a bunch of stupid shit. I explained why the shit you said was stupid, and off you fucked (but not without an inexplicable whine about my being “infantile”). I don’t know how or why you think the above is remotely relevant – maybe because you made the ridiculous claim that Jews are the only people who “get passive aggressive and hostile behavior from some folk in the same sort of way” (whatever the hell that means)? Yeah – you were wrong then, and you remain wrong now. We were talking about “discrimination” (actually, much of what we were talking about comes down to something more subconscious than that, but I’m not going to waste my time clarifying terms for an argument that’s already long over) in Hollywood and show business, not whatever unrelated point you’re reaching for up there.

You said Jon Stewart loathes himself. You were challenged on that, fell on your face, and made for the exit while muttering about how you no longer want to be around here. Well, nobody has you chained up.

Edited because I don’t feel like getting into it.

That one again eh? You seem like an okay guy and you’re well educated and so on but you seem to be unbalanced. You’re suffering some of recurring delusion that you’re “winning” some epic victory and making your opponents look foolish. I don’t know if it’s narcissism or whatever but you should consider getting some help. There’s no stigma with having mental illness my friend.

No, I understand the reality that here we argue and debate, and that debate and argument often produce losers. Here, you tried to push a bit of nonsense, got called on it, and then backed away with what is now a pair of sad little whines about my being infantile and my being mentally ill.

And I’m not making you look foolish – that is entirely your work.

But anyway, I’m not going to argue with you about whether or not I am mentally ill, so I’ll leave the substance as it is and gladly back away from the ad homs.

Okay, I don’t have any training in the field so I can’t really help you or advise you beyond seeking professional help. This is what actually happened: I used an expression that is common within right-wing Jewish and sympathiser circles, you then proceeded to make a pedantic complaint about the phrase(which is irrelevant of course as we both know what it means and what I intended to convey). It then quickly escalated to delusions of grandeur. Okay? That’s not a normal interaction. Seek help. Best of luck.

Or, alternatively: You said a stupid thing the stupidity of which is not even slightly diminished by the fact that there are idiots who also say it. I made the point that it was a stupid thing to say, you put up a couple minutes of lazy resistance, gave up, and then hobbled off while muttering like a sore jackass about my being “infantile” and mentally ill.

I was in the industry at the time of the meltdown and I can honestly say that the banks were the ones driving the fraud. They first created the “sub-prime” loan programs such as
-SISA, Stated Income, Stated Assets
-SIVA, Stated Income, Verified Assets
-NINJA, No job, No Income, No assets…

Yes, they had a loan program (at a nice high interest rate with a three year Pre payment penalty) that gave loans to people with NO JOB, NO MONEY DOWN, and NO ASSETS!

They had their account executives (tall hot blond chicks that were paid to “solicit” your business for that particular bank/lender) that would go around to various broker shops and TEACH THEM HOW TO FILL OUT THE APPLICATION. The bank/lender representative GAVE WEEKLY CLASSES on how to CHEAT/LIE to get the loan approved.

Once they originated the loan, and gave some undocumented immigrant working at Wendy’s a 500K note, they then packaged the “sub prime”, mixed it with the “prime” chopped it up into a CDO and sold that shit on the secondary market.

But let’s not blame the banks…

Seemed appropriate.

Give me a fucking break. Lose an argument and then try to save face by claiming the person who destroyed you needs mental help in a ridiculous attempt to save face? Get the fuck out of here with that shit. Take your loss like a man and move on to the next battle.

I just can’t buy into the lobbyists saved the world either. The lobbyists worked their ass off to make sure as much of the status quo could save. I posted a really long article about it before when discussing this with beans and he wouldn’t read it.

From what I’ve read many key parts of financial reform were fought tooth and nail by Wall Street lobbyists so any changes wouldn’t go too far and keep them from making risky decisions that might enrich themselves. Not to mention moral hazard.

Lol, yes. It’s all the evil bankers. Feel free to continue to argue with me through yourselves.

I’ve specifically said it wasn’t just them so no need to twist my argument. You seem to be attempting to make the point that they had nothing to do with it and that their lobbying only produced positive results that saved us from the horrors of legislation that might prevent a future collapse.
H factor wrote:

I didn’t twist anything. You might want to re-read your very first sentence in that reply…

Utter nonsense. I even offered up areas were the legislation would be a net positive.

I’m done here if your going to be disingenuous. Can’t say I’m not disappointed.

Lol yes it’s all the evil bankers is not an argument I ever made nor attempted to make is all I’ve said.

I’m not trying to be disingenuous in the least bit and I have no idea why you’d be disappointed in an attempt at discussion.

There was no argument idiot. I explained it to smh already. If he can’t get it through his head what chance would a non-entity such as yourself have? But it’s really very simple. It doesn’t matter what phrase I used. I could have called him an intergalactic tomato and so long as the person I’m talking to knows what I mean and intend to convey it matters not one fucking wit. He’s a “self loathing Jew” - SLJ is an expression meaning a Jew who doesn’t like Jewish culture, values, religion, Israel and doesn’t like to identify as a Jew. Understand dummy? Now fuck off twit.

Let me see if I can do this right. This is not a natural reaction to a statement. It seems as if you have a lot of built up anger issues that cannot be healthy. It seems as if when someone disagrees with you you fly into a fit of rage. I’m not a medical professional so I can’t do anything for you. I would just encourage you to seek help before you hurt yourself or someone around you.

No stigma with mental illness my friend.

I don’t have the energy to debate when:

Is the disingenuous way my points are framed.

I come here because I enjoy political debate, not because I want to filter through nonsense from otherwise good posters.

People what to lay it all, or even most of it on the banks? Go ahead, I don’t care anymore. Be sure to treat the symptom of a headache and ignore the tumor in your brain.

People want to cry that Dodd-Frank was prevented from being worse than what it is (hard to imagine, but true), fine. But don’t cry to me when you come to the realizing the banks are bigger than before, more in bed with government and overall still offering subordinated debt and not only would this all still be going on without the lobbying, but it would be going on in some back woods barely second world country and not NYC…

Whatever DF was utter garbage, still is utter garbage, and does nothing but bring the cronyism and protectionism of “too big to fail” to even more epic levels than before. The bill accomplished the opposite of what it said ti would do, sorta like naming the biggest violation of civil rights the country has see sense slavery and Jim Crow the “Patriot” act…
