Join the Marines

Honestly, you’re fucked. In this day and age of background checks/security clearances, especially with all you have posted on here @ T-Nation. Do you not think the Military could verify your identity on here also? You have after all posted a face pic many times :). Let’s just say a lot of the stuff you have typed on these forums does not make you look like an honorable person to have helping this country. If I were a recruiter, I’d just laugh in your face.
You sound like fun at parties.

I’ve got bout 2 weeks left in the Navy, thank god. Cant speak for other branches, but the Navy’s turned into a huge joke. Marine corps seems to be a lot more old school. I agree that the air force is where its at, but i got denied for having flat feet of all things, cuz they got like 90 percent of their recruiting goals for the next ten years, so with drug charges that’d be a tough sell.

But really? I can’t believe you guys are taking this seriously.

Artem exists as a running joke. From the Oxycodone he needs for his mysterious back pain that no one can find a reason for that for some reason won’t prevent him from making it through the grueling physical activity of boot camp to his heart-attack-seizure-robot moment in the McDonald’s lobby baked off his ass buying a cheat meal during the cut following his less-than-epic bulk to his faux-hardcore attitude in the aftermath of being robbed to the fact that he seems curiously unable to separate good decisions from poor, I think Artem’s just physiologically incapable of being honest with himself.

So when you respond to this thread, remember to do it for the lulz.
Thanks - but I probably just don’t want to give up on him just yet. Call me a pinko bleeding heart liberal or a sucker for his possible trolling - it’s just not nice to see someone throw their future away asinine decision by asinine decision. Of course Lanky’s right - I guess we were a little short sighted (or outright moronic) when we were 18. A permanent record is no fun though, and sometimes it’s just time to grow up, before it’s too late. Some of us had to do this a lot earlier - it’d be nice not to see too many people waste their youth.

Makkun (firmly joining the ranks for cranky middle aged bastards)

I lold’d all through this. And those are only the fuck ups you guys know about.
I’m kinda thinking Air Force now.
Thinking about the Air Force huh, sister wanting to join it? Because you sure as fuck won’t get in.

Aren’t you a drug dealer?
Was, a while ago. It’s a long story. Pushed for like a year. Police came to my house said it’s a designated drug house and they’re coming back with a warrant. So I pushed it all off cheap that night and quit. Chilled on the money for a while, while in college. Spent most of it on college, plane tickets, recording equipment, clothes, shades, and other unnecessary shit.

Anyways, fast forward a few months. Artem thinks he’s invincible, still, and goes and gets arrested twice in the same night; they were straight fucking with me, I swear. Because they know what car I drive. Like half of the charges will be dropped, but I am still in serious need for money right now. And my next college semester is coming up.

So I’m applying at every job in sight right now and not spending money on shit. Really don’t want to have to start pushing again to come up with this lawyer money because that shit will end poorly.

I’ve just looked over my life lately. I’m almost an adult and while I may think I have a ton of potential/be the shit, I have nothing legitimate to show for my life so far. And I’m just tired of my life right now. This shit is stale and it bores me. I want to get the fuck out of here. Joining the Marines looks like a great option right now.

Now, could we please turn page 2 of this thread into a serious page, rather than a make fun of Artem and exchange inside jokes thread?
I’m not trying to rain on your parade, but with a history like that I’d be very surprised if we’d take you.

And for what it is worth, I love it - Couldn’t imagine doing anything else.

What history? I may have done some stuff, but my record is clean right now. I have like 6 tickets, all of which are jokes but the class 1 DUI. But I blew a 0.00, so I have a case on that, too.

Arrests+warrants are a matter of public record, let alone what the military can dig into. You also alluded in another post that “this is only what you’ve posted on T-Nation” so I’m to assume you have done more dumb shit. Also, I’m no math major but I do believe “like half” being dropped still leaves “like half” sticking. The Air Force is the most selective recruiting of all of the major military branches, your record needs to be as spotless as your bunk during checkups.

Really it’s irrelevant anyways, as from the way you carry yourself(this could be a bit of a leap but it’s what we have to go on) I’d think most recruiters would spot you as a washout from a 2 minute chat, and as much as they may want to fill quotas they don’t need fuckups in the military that they are proud to serve.

Well, all I can do is try and get as much shit cleared as I can. I’m meeting with a lawyer Wednesday. I’m doing good in college and looking for a job right now. That, some community service I did, and a previously clean record should look good in court. And not being 18 yet is a plus. I’ll just keep researching the branches and see if I want to do it when I’m 18 in a few months…

last time I checked, he has a JUVENILE record. It is sealed when he turns 18. Just sayin’…

At least that’s how I remember it.

If the kid want’s to turn his life around, good for him.

Man, I’m totally sure I posted that the military sees sealed and expunged records. Just sayin’…

If all you’ve done is 6 tickets and a DUI, times have changes, but I got in with a lot more than that. Than again, different President/foreign policy.

with luck we’ll be in Iran soon!!!

Did no one read my post? This kid is not getting in right now. I have 2 seperate recruiters “on-call” to let me know when times have changed back towards the services being more lenient on who they let in, but it looks like it’s gonna be awhile.

Yeah, I had my record expunged, and I was asked about that when I interviewd to be a correctional officer. It was no big deal, I was just suprised that it showed up.

Not that your job will, but when I enlisted I had to get a security clearance. My recruiter even showed me, it doesn’t matter if it’s a juvenile record. I had shit on my juvenile record that he could see that the court even told me was “erased.” Why not the Army? Air Force has open air contracts, Army doesn’t. Just saying.

Also my buddy that just left for the Marines had his job changed and he couldn’t do anything about it, so really understand what you are getting in to.

You don’t understand why someone would choose the Marine Corps over another service?

This whole thread has turned into hypotheticals. Nothing is going to happen if you don’t take the first step and go talk to a recruiter. Quit dickin’ around on the internet and get into an office for fucks sake.

Step 1. Go for an entire day without breaking the law.
espenl wrote:

lol FTW

Artem, if you think the Marines will “square you away” or “fix you”, you’re delusional. I have plenty of shitbag acquaintances (not friends) that are in the USMC…they were scumbags before, and they’re still scumbags now. There’s nothing magical about boot camp that will transform your values/ethics (or lack thereof). Stop pretending you need to find something to fix you, and start fixing your damn self before you even consider working for the government.
Ct. Rockula wrote:
Dude, don’t you have crippling pain that requires Oxycontin?
yea, wtf? how are you going to get through boot camp with that horrible back pain? guess the “pain” really was just a desire for legal access to oxy. and I was the only one who tried to help you in that oxy thread. I feel so dirty…
