GPP:

Walk pissed-off dogs in the rain.

Notes: I am still feeling a little beat up from the last two training sessions, especially the hips. I also didn’t have time to look into bands and chains, so that’s still on my to-do list.

I figure 20 @ 265 is a good day too. I think you will like the band training. I need to get them back into my bench work.

That is a good one. Last week my sidekick couldn’t decide if he really had to go poop. I told him he was going to drive me nuts. He just looked at me deadpan and said “Dad, that is not necessary.”

Great training Jack. Little kids come out with the funniest comments sometimes. Any meets coming up?

Eco, the USAPL state meet is in February, but I have a conflict. There are local full power meets in June and July, and I will likely sign up for one of those. I would like to compete at the USAPL Master’s nationals next year after I get a little more training and experience under my belt.

Rack Pulls (Above knee, below mid thigh): 315 x 5, 405 x 5, 495 x1, 545 x1, 605 x1, 635 x1 (all prs)

Farmers’ walks: 110s x 60 yds., 30 yds., 30 yds., 30 yds., 30 yds.

Notes: I felt stiff going in today, but pretty fun work out. I pulled three reps then immediately did the jumps, then about 30-45 seconds rest. I have never racked pulled before, it was interesting, but it felt like cheating. I wanted to pull just above the knee, but my only options were mid shin or closer to mid thigh. It felt good holding heavy weights. The farmer’s walks felt really heavy, the 110s have thick handles.

Makes my heart rate go way up just reading. Tough workout.

How you like the explosives done right after the pulls? Got easier after the 5th set right?

Jack, that’s a lot of weight to move, from any height. Great job! You are really tearing it up!

Rick, I’m pretty heavy to be jumping like a little kid, but they actually felt pretty good. I am jumping on the wrestling mat, so its not as hard on my knees. They did get a little easier later in the set, but I am really feeling it now. I really need to lose some of this fat.

Notes: I am really happy with overhead press. I really, really wanted to break 2 bills. I unracked 205, but throught better of it and reracked it. I think I am getting wiser in my old age. If I can drop a few pounds of weight, and gain a few pounds of strength, I am in striking distance of a body weight press.

I am liking the high-rep, low weight curls, they don’t hurt my wrists or forearms and give me a little pump.

Pushups were better today.

I weighed in at 230 this morning, so I have cut a few pounds since I last weighed in and my belt isn’t cutting into my sides as much as it was at its current setting. All in all, a pretty good day.

Damn Jack. Great work. You are just setting PRs all over the place! Congratz on crossing the 2 century mark. And don’t get me started on the bw+ dips…

2 Bills overhead is pretty stout. I’m whicha on the BW overhead goal.
