Cool looking workout. I like the new jumping added in there. Make you strong and functional. Heavy farmer walks can really suck. You must have been sucking a lot of air carrying 200 extra pound for 75 yards.
Thats alot of deads–holy cow no wonder you felt slow!! Jumping is very explosive in itself and will detract from your speed on the pulls until your better conditioned.
Rick
Thanks, Eco, for stopping in. Rick, you should have warmed me! I am fricking torched right now.

Side note: I forgot to report another collar-stealing incident. On squat day, after I loaded 405, I walked about 20 feet away to belt-up, wrap-up, and get mentally prepared. While I was doing this, a dude in street clothes who was there just talking to his curling buddy just kind of wondered over, pulled off a collar, and started twirling it around while he talked to his buddy. I watched the whole thing. I walked up to him and said “what the fuck are you doing with that collar.” Response: “Sorry.” And just shrugged and sheepishly handed it back to me. Jesus.

I laughed at your response! Good to know you’re scaring off the douche bags. :>)
I haven’t thought about broad jumps since P.E. class in high school. Good for you mixing it up like that.
Got the old DOMS going on?? I’m not surprised with all those deads and jumps you did.
wow, Jack, great work. congrats on the meet, too, even though its ancient history now.
Thanks, MJ, for stopping in!
OHP: Bar x20, 90 x10, 135 x5, 170 x2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 135 x13 (rep PR, I think, but I am not going to bother checking).
Superset:
Dips: BW x 10, +20 x10, +40 x10, +60 x4
Australian Pullups: 10, 10, 10, 10
French Curls: 70 x 10 (these hurt, so I stopped)
DB Hammers curls: 25s x20.
Timed Pushups: 15, 15, 13, 10, 8, 7, 8, 8, 8, 7, 1 (100 total) 10min, 15 sec.
Notes: I felt pretty lazy today, but I got done what I wanted to get done. Not sure if it was deads Yesturday or the fact that I am all out of supps. Probably the deads. Oh, and 100 pushups for time as a finisher sucks, but I sure feel all swole.
Let me know how the jumps work for you. I don’t list them but I’ve been doing a lot trying to get some explosiveness back in my throwing. Lot of volume in your workouts.
Switching phase.
Jump Squats: 45 x 10 (about 6-9 inches of air), 185 x 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3 (about 3 inches of air).
Superset:
Controlled descent to below parallel pins: 315 x 1, 405 x1, 455 x1, 505 x1.
Anderson Squats from below parallel pins: 225 x 1, 1, 1, 1.
Deads: 135 x 1, 185 x1, 235 x1, 285 x1, 335 x1, 385 x1.
Notes: Weird workout, but it felt pretty good. 505 is the most weight I have ever had on my back, and it was spooky. I held it for 10 to 20 seconds (probably closer to 10) and had a very controlled descent to below parallel. I can really feel it in my hips and lower back, but not in a totally beat up or exhausted way. Props to Meat and Pete for holding that much weight over their face, let alone pressing back up.
Good lifting there JJack. Jump sqauts are awesome just be careful. When you land them immediately sink them, don’t try to absorb all the shock just go into another descent and start the next rep.Because it is a lot of trauma to the knees and lower back. You probaly did this already but just trying to reinforce smart thinking.
lift Strong
ps: you are going to be sore ![]()
505 on your back is an unimaginable weight. Nice job!
Nice job Jack, that is a big walk out.
DID SOMEONE SAY JUMP SQUAT???
sorry I got excited… I LOVE jump squats,
Ficsher is right- you need to think of these like the ‘catch’ part of a clean.
in college we used to do them ATG that always felt better
and its what I do now
Some great bust ass work going on here.
Thanks, everyone, for stopping in.
Shit, Rick, you weren’t kidding. I am feeling it today. And, ya, I am doing the jump squats like you said. I go ass to calves, pause, explode, repeat, and try to imagine I’m the suspension on a MotoX bike on the way down. Another week or so of this explosive stuff then its back to the grind.
I may look into getting some chains or bands or both on Saturday. I am, however, on a budget, so we shall see.
Jump squats… Been a long time since I thought about those… I’m going to et me some of them!
J-W, the jump squats were fun, but they did take their toll.
Bench Day:
45 x20, 90 x10, 135 x5, 185 x5, 225 x5, 265 x 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 205 x 12.
Chins 5, 5, 5, 5, 5.
Superset:
Incline DBBench 90s x10, 10, 75 x 17
Krocks: 140 x 10, 10, 100 x 30.
DB Hammer curl: 25s x 20.
Note: Bench felt pretty good today. 265 is 96% of my best ever gym single, 275, and equals my best ever competition lift. So I figure 20 reps at 265 is a pretty good day. The Krock rows hurt my hips at 140, so I switched up the rep scheme just a but. And I felt all swole afterwords.
Great work, Jack. Was there a scratch in the vinyl? Sorry…showing my age…a scratch on the cd? That’s a lot of 2’s!
Looks like a good day.
Nice work, Jack. That’s some serious benching!
