JJackKrash's Training/Ski Log

Thanks, everyone, for stopping in. Iyaayas, I actually dread front squats, I can get deeper, and my form is pretty good on them, but damn they are uncomfortable. I do them because they are a great movement, but I sure don’t enjoy them. I actually love back squats.

Wave 6, week 1, press. 5-5-5, 65, 75, 85%, TM 170.

Press: 45 x10, 65 x10, 90 x3, 110 x5, 130 x5, 145 x10 (rep PR).

Superset

Dips: BW x10, +20 x10, +40 x5, +60 x5, +90 x1

Chins: 5, 5, 5, 5, 5

Superset:

pushups (feet on bench): 10, 10, 10, 10, 10

Australian Pullups (feet on bench): 10, 10, 10, 10, 10

BBB Press: 100 x 10, 10, 8, 8, 6

Hanging Leg Raise: 5, 5, 5, 5, 5

Notes: I was sore and tired walking into the gym, but I took my time and got a rep PR on the press. Also, no dip station–no problem. I made a makeshift one with some bars and the military station. It didn’t work as well when I went to +90 because of the way the 90 was hanging from my belt so I need to figure this out. The last superset was tough, about 90 sec rest between circuits. I haven’t weighed in in a while, but I am afraid I will not make even the 220 weight class. I am going to start walking hills on the off days to cut some fat. I am probably about 225 right now and about 25% fat.

Good workouts and the gym looks sweet. Way to improvise.

Thanks, Harry.

GPP: Walked my two boxers up and down a big ass hill, 45 min. Now its time for a dozen eggs with cheese.

Damn Jack! I’m going to ditto Harry. I hope you eat those eggs with extra sharp cheese!

Nice work.

I like the dip stand. do they have the goofy assisted pullup dip machine?
glad the move went well.

Thanks JW and KMC. No goofy pullup dip machine.

Meet prep, deads.

Bar x 10, 90 x10, 135 x18, 185 x10, 225 x5, 275 x1, 315 x1, 365 x1, 405 x2.

Notes: I was trying for a triple, but my lower back said no. I wanted to open at 405, but I think I will back it down to 365. I am not sure how I will feel after a max squat effort.

Nice pulls Jack! Only comment from my inexperienced eye is to make sure and get those hips through at the end. It looked a bit like you were short of lockout. Maybe give it another go at a triple in a couple of days. I know coming off a deload I felt like everything was heavy on Sunday.

You lift on Saturday the 5th? Any idea of the size of the lifting roster? I haven’t hear anything on my meet yet. Other than the overall lifting schedule.

Thanks for the input, Dog. The deads sure felt locked out, but I noticed the same thing on the video. I will try and emphasize the hip lock out in the future.

The meet is limited to 60 lifters, weigh in at 7:30 a.m., I think. I am not sure if they filled all the slots.

That being said, you made them look really easy. They looked really strong and smooth.

LS said it all. Looked great. Good luck at the meet.

Jjack- yeah buddy! what LS and ECO said!! Kick ass at the meet!

JJ, looking good, the 405 was smooth and strong. Quick question, are you wearing weightlifting shoes?

Thanks for stopping in everyone. Chi-Town, I lift in unlaced wrestling shoes. I am assuming they are legal to lift in at the meet, I have chucks as a back-up.

Gpp: Walked dogs down and up big ass hill, 40 min.

I use wrestling shoes as well. The two meets I’ve done no one had any problems with my shoes. Have a great Thanksgiving.

Nice 405s, jjackkrash!

Don’t forget to factor in the adrenaline rush you’ll be riding at the meet.

Nice pulling, have a great holiday and good luck at the meet.

Have a great thanksgiving, and open at 405!

Jack,
nice work pulling looked very controled,
have a great holiday.

Thanks all.

Thanksgiving day meet prep. Bench.

45 x20, 90 x 10, 135 x5, 185 x5, 225 x1, 255 x3, 275 x 1, 285 x 0. Videos to follow.

Chins: 8, 6, 6, 6, 5, 4, 4, 4, 3, 3 (50 total)

Superset:

Incline DBBench 80 x 10, 10, 10, 10, 10

Krock Rows: 140 x 10, 10, 10, 10, 10

Notes: Pausing on bench is harder than it sounds! I think I will open with 255 and then 275 and then pray on 285. Who knows. Krock rows were heavy today, added 5 lbs. from last week and made all the reps. Pretty happy with the chins as well. Happy Thanksgiving all!

Damn good pressing Jack. hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving!
