Okay, I am one of the biggest Cowboys fan you will ever talk to. JJ has a business mind that I seriously respect. But that does not make him able to recognize talent and put together a NFL team.

I know you are a Cowboy fan, but I disagree.

On the Cowboy’s current roster I believe The Cowboy’s have one of, if not the most talented teams in the NFL.

As a Skins fan, I hate the Cowboys. Since you’re from Texas, I won’t demonize your love for them, if I were from Texas, I’d probably be a Dallas fan, too.

A few things.

JJ is a good owner in that he’s willing to open his checkbook to better his team. Up until a few years ago, the Nats owners weren’t doing that and you saw how much we improved when they did it (this season was a bust, though). He’s also a celebrity, moreso than most NFL owners.

However, his inability to let a coach take over and handle things is a problem. He may have been a player a long time ago, that doesn’t mean that he can be affective controlling things that have to do with coaching and acquiring talent.

They are NOT America’s team. You can’t consider yourself that when it is self-described. Sorry. If any team is, its’ the Steelers. That’s coming from someone who is not a Steelers fan. They easily have the most fans around the country from what I’ve seen. There’s a lot of people who don’t like the Cowboys, not just Skins fans. Since we are from the nation’s capital, I could easily make the argument that we’d be America’s team before the Cowboys would.

There’s a certain level of dick-jocking that a lot of media does towards the Cowboys. Especially ESPN. I’m not sure exactly why, it may be a combination of things. But one thing is certain, no matter how much it is known that they WON’T, ESPN still likes to predict them as superbowl favorites year in and year out. Referees like to help your team, too. If you disagree, you’re blind. There were some very bad/missed calls on Sunday night, like the clear block in the back on that run back that was ignored. Michael Irvin made a hall of fame career out of pushing off that never got called. Recently, they have not made the playoffs that much and when they did, they have, what, 1 playoff win in the last decade? And after that 1 win, Romo promptly pulled his usual and the universe fell back into alignment.

You kept Romo (which I was happy about) because he was your best option when his contract was up. He is a proven choke-artist. I hate repeating myself, but once again, if you disagree, you’re blind. Yes he does good with stats, but stats aren’t everything, obviously.

So yes, I agree that he’s a good owner and I understand why you’re hanging from his nut sack, since you’re a fan. But let’s try to stay in reality. I, myself, don’t like the Skins owner and think he’s the main reason we’ve sucked for most of the 2000s. Just as a comparison.

Declaration of Independence was signed in Philly, the Eagles are America’s team.

The Cowboys are one of those teams with a lot of flash and little substance. That’s why they will never win a championship as long a Jones is calling the shots. He gets hung up on the “Oooo… Shiny” aspect of picking out money players and that doesn’t work with a salary cap. The other players left to fill in the gaps are sub par and the stars he signs (most of them are also questionable) cant make up for that. He won championships when the salary cap was a non-issue and he could buy a team (he did win one the year after its introduction).

I agree with whoever posted that they have one of the best teams- on paper. Unfortunately, be it play calling (Garrett blows), ownership’s meddling (Jones is too involved), or just plain bad luck (team always loses it’s best players at the wrong times) they can’t get anything going. That said, they are a scary team and anyone who sleeps on them is just stupid. I wasn’t even remotely sad about losing to them b/c at this point they are teh better team.

But seriously, can the coaches not figure out that if you have the lead to put the ball in the RBs hands at the end of the game and not Romo’s. He has an undeniable tendency to throw INT and at some point they have to account for that.

Ok first to address one topic that has come up. I understand how a different teams fan can try to say The Dallas Cowboy’s arent America’s Team. But, really they are. I didn’t give them that title. It is what it is.

Best Post. At least he’s not retarded as Al. So you have strippers dancing in the sky but no defense makes sense.

Romo has let me down. Yes, time and time again. Yes, I think Romo is going to bring a Super Bowl championship back to Dallas. The guy is an elite qb. People called Elway a choke artist, people called Manning a choke artist. Yes, I put Romo’s name in the same sentence. Do I think he has a legacy as great as their’s? Not yet, but his career is not over yet either. Also, I would not trade Romo for anyone.

I think the Cowboy’s are going to win the Super Bowl this year.

Thanks In Big Part To Jerry Jones.

Jerry used to get hung up on the “Oooo… Shiny” aspect a little, but Garret is helping change that in his own way. The Cowboy’s have been drafting ‘The Right’ type of guys the past couple of years.

They used our fisrt draft choice on a center for God’s sake. That isnt a very ‘shiny’ choice. And, if you know anything about the current team you know it was a good choice, might even be a great one.

I am not trying to be cocky about my favorite team. I started this thread to vent because I was sick of people blaming Jerry Jones.

Superbowl this year you sir are insane. Jerry Jones seems like a cool dude I’ll give you that. I’m pretty sure Denver Seattle Sanfran or Cincy will take it.

While I am not sure I with you on how much Jones listens to Garrett (he doesn’t), Am I understanding you correctly that you are saying Jones would still be hung up on the shiny players were it not for Garrett which would ultimately make Jones responsible for your teams decade plus of mediocrity? Not exactly great owner material then is he?

Maybe skilled positions, but no way do we have the OL and DL most talented in the league.

That is what I am talking about though, JJ loves the flash and forgets the substance.

What I believe is that Jerry goes for a winning team and yes he liked high profile players to wear the star. Still does.
It worked for him with Deon.
I think when Parcells was the coach and did not want to sign T.O. and Jones did anyway, it changed his mind a little about his ‘shiny’ approach.
I think Garrett does have some say. His approach is not for the ‘shiny’ players.
If Jerry was still looking for that ‘shiny’ guy he would have signed Ocho Cinco a couple of years ago. A couple of other players that came up in free agency that the cowboy’s ignored. oh yeah, Tebow. I know he isn’t a ‘shiny’ football player with skill in throwing the ball, but could you imagine him in Dallas? That would have been EPIC in media attention.
