Just got an email saying that the Recipe Book is out.
Woohoo!!
Does anyone know if they’ll be offering a discount for T-Nation? Or maybe its best to wait until Tailer Nutrition comes out and they might offer both books at a discounted rate?
Indeed - the book is out. And I’d wager that you’ve never seen an e-book quite like this before!
But don’t take my word for it, go check out the book preview (we’ve got 29 of the 200 pages for you to download and peek at).
As far as waiting for Tailor Made - you’ll be waiting a while. It wont be done till next summer and probably won’t be released till 2006. A big publisher has expressed interest and while that’s a GREAT thing, it means the book won’t come out until 6 - 12 months after it’s actually finished.
Gourmet Nutrition, however, is ready and amazing! I’m ecstatic about how great it turned out.
For those who picked up a copy, post your feedback here!
Hey JB,
Are you planning on releasing a hard copy version of Gourmet Nutrition? Or am I better off buying the e-book and heading to Staples and getting it bound?
A couple of publishers are looking at the book but it would be a year or longer till they get on it.
With the cost of self publishing, the # of pages, and the color images, I’d have to charge a fortune to sell paper copies. That’s why the only way it’ll appear as a hard copy is if a publisher picks it up.
This book is awesome!!! I have to say JB and Dr. Williams really hit a homerun with this book. I have been looking for something like this for quite some time. Anyone serious about their diet should definitely check this out. It contains over 100 recipes for fish, beef, chicken, breakfast, shakes, bars/treats ranging from easy to difficult preparation. I would not label it as just a cookbook though, as JB says this is a “full-blown optimal eating manual”. I would recommend checking out the 29-page preview on his website to see everything that the book contains. Overall, I give the book 5 stars.
JB- what would you say are the absolute must have appliances to get me started? I have a Foreman grill, tea-kettle, and some pans, but that is about it. My b-day is on Thursday, so I was thinking about asking for a blender, food processor, knife set, and wok. Would that be a good base to start building my kitchen? Thanks in advance.

That’s an awesome base, for sure! Those would be my essentials although you might not even need a food processor as you can chop and blend your way to most of what that can do. However if you can swing a free processor, hook it up.
Do me a favor, if you’re comfortable sending (to my email addy) a testimonial, I’d love to publish it on the site. I love your feedback and since I think more people need to have this book, they need to hear it too!
Well finally managed to get through to reading the book… I must say: Amazing stuff!!! Just what I have been wanting to all allong; a book that would more or less follow Massive Eating recommendations and give such a wide vareity of food choices.
Just have a few quick questions: In massive eating, you recommend keeping fat intake during P+C meals and Carb intake during P+F meals less than 10 grams… however some recipes overshoot this by a little bit. Has the reasearch shown that the extra grams of either nutrient does not really make a difference?
Also, you mention not to have any milk in the home, but in one of your recipes one of the ingredients is skim milk. Any thoughts on that?
Well, I just want to end by saying: Dr Berardi, you’re the man!
I think you illustrate a GREAT point…it’s this - you don’t have to be excessively anal about the fat and carbs thing. Just try to minimize them. Undoubtedly I’ll get a bizillion emails sayin:
“BUT JB, HOW MUCH?!?”
And I’ll keep saying - there’s no magic number.
I once made the mistake of trying to placate these people by throwing out the 10g number you mention. BIG MISTAKE. The number doesn’t matter. Just keep em reasonably low.
As far as skim milk - I’ve written before - a little milk is ok once in a while. Milk as a dietary staple - probably not ideal.
I’m gonna download the book asap. Can’t wait to read it! John is a good guy with a ton of great recipies.
About the milk issue, do you have an article explaining why milk should not be consumed a lot? Currently, I have about 2 cups of skim milk a day and 1 cup of cottage cheese.
Downloaded the book over the weekend. I’ve already started cooking.
Thai Ground Beef and the Peanut butter Fudge Bars were a cinch to complete. I won’t even have to refer to the book when I make 'em again. Both tasted good.
The quiche took a bit, about a half hour. Can’t believe the quiche contains low carbs but still contains a decent-tasting pie crust (made mostly of flax and almond meal).
I’ve been eating under the No-Nonsense Nutrition plan for three months and I’m pleased that I can now modify the menu.
I’ll need to review more of the book to give a complete eval but I do wanna say that previosly I haven’t found any cookbooks w/ the desireable P-C-F ratios that I need so JB’s book is the first one – which means I’ll be using more of his book than the other cookbooks on my shelf.
Wow JB, another book already? I was pretty psyched when I saw it, so both my girlfriend (Maya) and myself have gone through it every day planning what we’re going to eat.
I hate to admit it, but in contrast to my girlfriend, I can barely cook. Fortunately, most of the recipes are easy enough for guys like me to use. I also love the fact that everything is so well laid out -it’s not only visually appealing, but quick and easy to understand. The pie charts showing the nutrient make up of each recipe are a real a highlight for me, because they show right away what you’re consuming. For those of us who want a little more information, the detailed nutrient breakdown is far more comprehensive than anything else I’ve seen -I mean, what other cookbook gives you Omega-6 and Omega-3 content of a meal?!
Finally, I’m really sick of tuna and cottage cheese, so I must issue a heart felt thank you for the variety you’ve included!
Bottom Line: From experienced chef to microwave-hardened bachelor, this book is a ‘can’t miss’ for anyone interested in looking and feeling better!

Its a great book John for sure!
However we dont get a few of the products in your book over here…like in one of your oatmeal recipes you talk about carb countdown chocolate drink (or something)…would like to know what that (and a few other things) are…
Awesome book though, cant wait to start the new eating plan shortly!
