Akicita, let me say this. I know a little about Indians because there are some Indians here in my neck of the woods. In fact, I buy my cigarettes from the local reservation - tax free. It is my understanding that a confederation of tribes make an Indian Nation, around here (Buffalo, NY) that Nation is the Seneca Nation if I’m not mistaken. When looking at the United States, being a confederation of states making one nation, I can see the parallels and will admit that such a confederation is most likely based on the Indian model - organizationally speaking. However, similarities cease after taking that into account. The finer points of the U.S. Government such as no taxation without representation, the right to assemble peaceably, protection against illegal search and seizure, prohibition against excessive bail etc. are all wholly European in origin. The above mentioned points are based on English common law. The Senate originates in ancient Rome. So the fact remains that the Indian influence on the U.S. form of government is highly exaggerated by politically correct “history” books.
