I don’t give a shit how much you’re lifting. I don’t give a shit how much I’m lifting. Therefore, I am not that guy.
But I am interested in getting as big as my genetics (and anabolics) will allow.
That is why I train with light-to-moderate weights for high reps on machines, using mostly isolation exercises.
“Everybody wanna be a bodybuilder, but don’t nobody want to lift moderate weight for high reps” -Diamond Delts mod on BB.com Forums
Or to put it more succinctly
“This AIN’T ninth grade and no one gives a SHIT how much you bench” - Will Harris
That’s my philosophy, since you wanted to know.
You have to be a Phil Hendrie fan…because this stuff is comedy gold!
I laughed my ass off this morning at this. Thanks for that!!
Actually if you read my post a little closer, I didn’t ask you or the 150 pounders of the world for your philosophy. I do enjoy your schtick though. It’s a great source of comedy. Thanks for the laughs! Keep it coming.
That post was intentionally written to provoke a certain reaction, although everything stated above is true. So, I’m glad you enjoyed it.

It’s interesting that you throw up all that verbage about not being able to truly qualify what strength and athleticism are, yet you choose to train for something even far more subjective. Everyone has different ideas as to what an ideal physique is, but most will agree as to who is strong.
Either way, your doing your own thing and that’s all the matters so best of luck to you. Also, I’m pretty sure the quote goes: “Everybody wanna be a bodybuilder, but nobody wanna lift these heavy ass weights, I do it!” – You know who said it, that strong bodybuilder.
There’s nothing wrong with subjectivity. That’s the whole reason I’m interested in bodybuilding. I don’t need other people to judge me, I prefer to judge myself.
By the way, strength still doesn’t exist. You may not have liked my metaphysical rant but that doesn’t make it untrue.[/quote]
How can you say strength doesn’t exist? It certainly does. Or are you saying it’s some kind of relativist free-for-all so it doesn’t really exist?
We have many constructs for strength; the powerlifts, Oly lifting, strongman. Further, we could go into a laboratory and measure muscle forces themselves if we wanted to, but that’s boring so no one does.
