@blackagger&ryan: thanks guys, means a lot to me for sure!
So I’ve been looking into powerlifting meets and out of the divisions available here British Drug Free Powerlifting Association (www.bdfpa.co.uk) stands out as the absolute best option (and only legit, reputable drug-free option).
Problem is I have no idea when the next regional meet is that would be possible to get to for me… theres one that would be just over 2 hours away but that’s not even till late October. I think I’m better off training hard and getting bigger/stronger and waiting on the appropriate meet in this division rather then doing a random, non-drug tested meet, just to get one done as soon as possible.
This is the same division someone who used to train at my uni gym managed: BW: 118.5kg/261 - 230/507 - 180/397 - 320/705 for a 730kg/1609lb raw total… dude was beast. His DL/total is the feds record for an U23.
Squat
92.5/204 x 4 - 110/243 x 4 - 125/276 x 4 beltless default pr - belt on - 140/309 x 3 - 140/309 x 4 - 140/309 x 4
^ No missed reps but stupid hard, next session should be insane
Military Press
42.5/94 x 3 - 47.5/105 x 3- belt & wrist wraps on - 55/121 x 5 < Couldn’t push this at all today, serious shoulder strain/tightness at the bottom of the ROM, need some stretching/rolling or something. Any advice from guys who know how to fix extreme shoulder tightness would be appreciated.
Arnold Press
22/49s x some & called it, shoulder strain again…
Seated Laterals
22/49s x 10 - 22/49s x 12 - 22/49s x 12
Seated Front Raise (loose)
22/49s x 6 - 18/40s x 6
Inc. Bench Rear Delt
18/40s x 8 - 18/40s x 10 - 18/40s x 10
Shoulders weren’t feeling 100% today which limited poundages, front delt in particular was suffering… I think I need to start a/ training my rotator cuff (forgot today) and b/ trying to press in a way which saves my shoulders (I guess that means trying PL style… again)

Thanks man. The scary thing is having to go for a triple at 147.5kg/325lb on Wednesday… WHEN I get it I’ll have a sweet new 3RM.

How do you like those seated laterals compared to standing?
I prefer them by a long way, I do them sitting on the middle/to the back of a flat bench with my feet up on the end of the bench… that way it seems I can go pretty damn heavy and it’s pretty much avoids the front delt taking over. I believe this is how John Meadows reccommends doing them. With both those and the rear delt they are more “swings” but the setup itself (feet up and lying on bench respectively) means that the target muscle, IMO, is hit as hard as it possibly can be. I have made noticable lateral and posterial delt improvements since I started really focusing on these movements. My front delt strength sucks though.
Going to keep food intake roughly how it is and see how high my bodyweight gets before sticking again… I expected somewhat a rebound effect when I suddenly stopped burning 3500+ calories a week through cardio (work) whilst eating a little more too.
Pull-up
BW x 8 - straps - +15/33 x 7 - +30/66 x 3 + 1 neutral grip forced - straps off - BW x 13
Seated HS Row (first time trying, usually use low row)
2pps x 10 - 3pps x 10 Default rep PR- 4pps x 4.5 PR < must have looked like a dick with how bad my form was on last set. Think I prefer HS low row though… wanted to try this one because Andy Bolton rates it very highly for back assistance.
V-Handle Lat Pulldown
80/176 x 10 - 90/198 x 3
Reverse V-Handle Lat Pulldown (John Meadows style, back arched over pad)
50/110 x 10 - 60/132 x 8 Default PR < didn’t like these too much, my lat pulldown station isn’t a high enough to get good stretch at the top of rom.
Stretcher
no straps - 45/99 x 12 < always feel good
DB Deadstop Rows
50/110s x 5
Managed the above workout in under 50 minutes before my lecture… pretty happy with how it felt/my back experiments today.
Thinking about giving a pre-workout supp a try, I imagine some of you guys have tried a certain popular preworkout containing:
1,3-Dimethylamylamine
Reviews and price seem fine, but this might sound stupid… but have I got to be careful in the pre-workout area in terms of banned ingredients for powerlifting/bodybuilding? I may just have to stick to my caffiene & creatine mono if so…

never tried a preworkout stim you see.
I tried it today as I decided I would need something to give my workouts a little kick whilst I cut for the 4-6 weeks. Have tried it before and it did nothing (previously had a stupid high stim tolerance), but a couple of weeks ago detoxed off caffeine completely and have been trying to avoid it where possible since. Took a 3scoop dose today preworkout and was stupid wired for the hour or so I was in there. Hopefully I don’t gain a tolerance too quickly, but yeah, it seemed to do the job alright today!

brolife lol
Re the banned substance stuff, it very much depends on the fed you are competing in. I’m not sure how long it stays in your system, but I’d wager if you cut use a week before your comp you should be alright.
Great looking business going down in here as usual.
Jacked was good for me. I am a stim none responder but it gave me some good focus i would contribute that to the 1-3 Dmaa as other pre workouts with out that really dont do anything to me.
Still progressing in BW or are you shooting more for strength gains with minimal BW change?

Geez guys… feels like bugs log or something up in hur
@phlegms: I have like 200mg-300mg caffiene on days I remember pre-workout (maybe half the time, or if I’m feeling tired). I will check out bdfpa’s website and the natty bb fed I’ve looked into in the past see if theres banned lists or whatever. BROLIFE 2k12.
@ryan: Hey man, I find I respond pretty well to caffiene but never tried anything else stims wise… Jack3d does seem like a quality investment though presuming I won’t run into problems down the line when they ban it or something lol. In terms of training goals I am back to gaining bodyweight, as I said above up to about 189 (from a 186 low) first thing this morning and with slightly increases food intake and drastic cardio reduction I expect to be back up to 194+ relatively soon, but time will tell! It’s all about gradual weight.
