That i have an unusually bad attitude, and i should be more optimistic… I wouldnt say im pesimistic, but i consider myself a realist. Im really getting tired of the whole “Think positive and positive things happen” manure!!! I am 100% sure that statement is garbage! Needless to say everyone cant be wrong, so i need to find a way to look disguise my realism as optimism.
Example: A crackhead approaches you while in the company of one of your disgustingly positive friends. He asks you to borrow your car, and promises he will bring it right back. Your positive friend hands over his keys to said individual, and waves him off as the crackhead peels out and leaves. Hours go by and you tell your friend “Hey man, that crackhead aint coming back with your car…” he responds with “Quit being negative, you gotta trust people, think positive and positive things happen”!!! His car is still gone right? He still doesn;t have a ride to work right?
Any scenario can be put here, and pretty much play out the same way… am i wrong? Do you have friends like this? say you get booted out of your house, your car gets repo’ed, and you have a mysterious growth on the right side of your penis. After telling your friend this he says “All things happen for a reason, stay positive and things will get better” . Explain to me plz!!! WTF are they talking about? My point being is that you can think positive all you want, but it will have no effect on your current situation.
You dont have to say oh it doesnt matter that my penis is only 2 inches… atleast I have one! Just dont be unnecessarily negative about situations just relax a bit I guess. you really can talk yourself into negative outcomes.
true, but they say it about everything!!! Like if there was a nuclear war, they would say “At least the cockroaches will have a place to stay!!!” I am trying not to look at the glass half empty for sure, but when i am made to listen to this complete manure, it makes me wanna reach back like a PIMP and slap the eyebrows right off thier face… Know what i mean?
The Secret is unrealistic. It used stupid examples, just like you did with the crackhead story, it simply isn’t realistic and it defies common sense.
I will not knock the power of positive thinking though. Everybody has to deal with bad circumstances at times, even the guys who preach this stuff. If your a positive person, your more enjoyable to be around and meeting people in that regard alone can lead to good opportunities that would not of happened otherwise.
Some stuff I’ve noticed about being positive and optimistic-
When you believe that you can accomplish something, you have a much better chance of succeeding than if you believe you will fail. (within reason)
When you focus on good things, It’s not that bad things don’t happen, you just don’t let them hold you back or rule you, you maintain sight of good things and continue moving forward.
People who are successful, positive, and motivated do not want to be around people who are not for any length of time. If you are not one of them, they sure as hell don’t want to be one of you.
Being connected with people of #3 gives rise to a lot more good and valuable opportunities than being around people who are pessimistic and poorly motivated. When you are successful more often and become more optimistic, more and better opportunities are derived from previous success and a replenishment of optimism from the continuing success. The opposite can also be true. When you project failure and pessimism, opportunities will be passed by you, failure is not just an option, but an outcome, and more failures and missed opportunities result from dwelling on previous failure and missed opportunity.
Some people spiral upward, some spiral downward.
I used to teach a lot of people snowboarding. The first thing I would tell them is that your body will follow your head. If you don’t want to hit that tree, don’t look at it and you won’t go toward it.
Life is very similar to that.
You can also be positive, but not optimistic.
ex. If you jump off of an overpass, I am positive you will hit the ground, but not optimistic for your future.
I am actually very fun to be around lol. I just hear all these idiots preaching this garbage and it makes me sick. I do however always plan for the worst, so that when the best happens im always suprised.
I used to say Pessismism is a better bet because:
worst case scenario your right, best case you get a pleasant surprise.
Best case scenario for optimism is your right, worst case scenario your get a terrible surprise.
But I’ve decided the chance for an unpleasant surprise is worth the relief of not carry around the constant burden of impending doom associated with pessimism. Opitimism isn’t blindly assuming the best. Its believing you have power over the consequences of your actions.
It’s a very satisfying sensation to believe you are in complete control.

Just watched the first 24 mins of “the secret”… Alrigh here is my take on it,
It appears to me as a absofuckinglutely bullshittingly idiotic movie… If there is one thing i hate, it is metaphysical bullshit… To make matters worse, they use some quantum physicist to promote this bullshit… argh. I may sound negativ, but I assure you, I’m just being a realist.
I bet they got the idea for this from the act of praying, except with this kind of praying you get EVERYTHING you ask for, with time. Even the bad stuff.
the example was supposed to be retarded assclown lol It was to signify the blind dedication to being optimistic under any and all circumstances. Not too quick on the uptake huh bud??
Gorillaman, you are wrong. You are a pessimistic person. You are the person that brings down others because of your negativity(they told you so by telling you that have a bad attitude). Having been just like you and calling myself a “realist”, and having the privilege of associating with people that seem to ooze positivity and energy. It finally hit me hard enough to admit to myself that i was pessimistic. It is a hard habit to break admittedly, but being able the think that no matter what storms life has in store for me, that i can rise to the occasion and battle against the adversity and come out on top, is an awesome feeling to have.
Couple of names that have done just that, Arnold Schwarzeneggar Lance Armstrong, Ray Charles, etc this list could go on quite a ways.
With that being said, being positive doesn’t mean you have to be over the top with it, but give off more of a positive impression. The phrase “Actions speak louder than words” comes to mind.
Obviously just being positive doesn’t mean that nothing will ever go wrong, or that it will magically get better, but for many circumstances, just having a better outlook or positive resolve to get better can help you actually achieve that. Ever see a quadriplegic just happy as a clam, i have, and it gives me a whole new perspective on life. Even if everything is the worst it has ever been, if you can wake up and think i am gonna have a great day and believe it, it’s suprising how often it seems a whole lot better.
If however you are dead set at being a negative panty twister, just shut your negative pie hole and carry on.
or maybe you’re a troll either way,

And if you see here in this post, the only ones getting defensive, or talking trash are the people this post was about, and thats cool causw thats what posts are supposed to do. A lot of people too it to a poaitive place, but then there were the couple that took it to the negative lol. You sir took it too the negative… If you wanna post, post something witty and insightful that might bring me into the light, if not… Quoting Teastacles_rocks “If your gonna be negative shut your pie hole and carry on”
