I've Got A Bar And I'm Not Afraid To Use It - Pinkylifting Log

Ha I’m pretty sure the strict curl world record is something mad like 128kg by some Russian armwrestler. That’s said I’d rather have that record than any of the PL lifts.

Cyplenkov I believe. Dude is a beast and walking pharmacy doesn’t even look human lol.

Dudes hands are literally the size of a an average human head. Definitely looks like an armwrestler. Looking him up it looks like my lift would have got second place in the under 90kg 2018 strict curl world championships, which is pretty cool. Maybe I should switch sports.

What are your thoughts on cutting weight by a long duration sauna-session? I remember Duffin cutting thirty-nine pounds for the 2015 world championship’s. He does admit that was taking it too far…

Having never done it, I don’t really have any valid thoughts on it to be honest. It would be my last resort for a few reasons though. 1 - I don’t have easy access to a sauna typically. 2 - I understand it can be quite a dangerous approach and it’s this that has killed boxers cutting weight in the past, the hyperthermic treatments.

It seems logical to me to do the easy things first and the hard things last when it comes to cutting weight, so glycogen weight > sodium cut > intenstinal transit > water cut > hyperthermia

I appreciate the santa hat

Ha, thanks man. I was dissapointed that no-one on the day appreciated the fact my socks had photos of my dogs face all over them

Do you think most powerlifters train off season in the weight class above, then typically move down for the competition?

I think you could probably say ‘most’ do yea. I think it varies a lot across weight classes though. In the ‘middleweight’ classes I think it’s very common, so 75-90/100, it seems maybe a bit less at the heavyweights for whatever reason

You look like the handsome scotsman from Outlander. Damn, that’s a curl! So what, you do strength training for curls, like singles, doubles and all ahah?

Ha, thanks, I think. All my curl training is in my log. Train it like everything else, multiple sets of 1-5 reps mostly.

You’re ripped! Remind me why you don’t do bodybuilding???

Well thank you. Two reasons really, firstly I don’t like the idea of standing in posing trunks infront of a big crowd of people (or a small crowd for that matter, that just seems sad, not sure what would be worse tbh), secondly, and probably most importantly, I don’t think I could handle the dieting needed to get stage lean, and I’m too competitive to get up on stage anything but competition ready.

Yeah, getting on stage sounds just miserable. Also, I think getting around 5% is super, super unhealthy. Terrible for hormone levels, terrible for kidneys, terrible for everything. That’s assuming someone is natural and not loaded with drugs too. I had a small period where I wanted to try and do a BBing show, but that disappeared quickly when I realized what was necessary.

I mean just getting under 10% sucks, and it get exponentially harder the leaner you get. To get to the point wherre you have striated glutes you must feel like death, or like death would be preferable. Reward just doesn’t seem to match the effort.

What about men’s physique? No gluteus on display even

Hah, I see your photos for the first time. I used to think that you are some middle age chubby powerlifter , but, what a suprise- you are a nice, tall and handsome boy :).
Competitive bodybuilding is the most wrong kind of sport in my oppinion. Extremely subjective “beauty contest” and dangerously unhealthy, you should take a tons of steroids and to starve and dehydrate almost to death just to drop your bodyfat to 5-6% at the stage. I watch many shows , podcast , etc. and I know personally some BB athelete here and I see that in their best form they feel like garbage, weak, stressed, hungry and quite dissapointed.

idk if men’s physique would satisfy @Pinkylifting 's competitive nature.

He does have “master level” powerlifting numbers, so he’s doing amazing as is. I was just wondering since he seems to maintain 10%, if not lower, quite “easily”

I don’t know- it’s very hard to define % bodyfat just from photo/video, but I would say he is above 10%, may be 12-15%. And that’s absolutely fine, we don’t have to be fooled byall of these fake images on instagram. @Pinkylifting looks amazing! As far as I know Simeon Panda in his current form is about 9-10% BF for example.
