I was hoping Booker would have won the nomination and I very likely would have voted for him in the general. Seems like a decent individual.
What does it say about our current electorate and candidates when my requirements don’t have anything to do with political positions? All I was hoping was for a sane, respectable person that will not also be an octogenarian in their first term.
After watching Andrew Cuomo display his leadership over the last two months, it’s abundently clear the dems are making a huge mistake by not recruiting him to run and uniting around him. He’d win in a landslide.

Agree. I also have had thoughts about Andrew Cuomo running. I share the opinion that he would be a great candidate.
At a minimum, Biden needs to renege on his commitment to select a women as a running mate and ask Cuomo instead. That was a stupid mistake. One, he’s backed himself into a corner now. Two, declaring that the first requirement for a running mate is entirely based on gender is the antithesis of equal opportunity and gender equality.
From a purely political strategy standpoint, Cuomo as VP now would give the Dems great odds for 12 years in control of the white house.
Agree. Just silly claiming the VP is going to be a woman. You could have that as your goal, but much better optics to just do it, and not announce it before hand.

Would you apply that logic to Trump? He has more dead under his leadership than Cuomo does (deaths under Cuomo are a subset of the deaths under Trump).
I would agree and I know Booker, well I don’t personally know him, from when he was mayor of Newark. Trying to navigate through the layers of corruption that city has from decades of criminal (literally) mayors and other politicians (and the mob) was not easy. The gangs even put a price on his head.
Who is calling him a hero? Certainly not me, but it’s hard not to notice his calm, collected demeanor during this disaster.
Then again, maybe I’m giving him too much credit. All he really did during this shutdown was devise a strategy to make sure testing was readily available in his state, prepare additional facilities to act as makeshift hospitals, and ensure adequate PPE to healthcare workers, at least to the best of his abilities. You know, basically just the little and obvious things…
I don’t care what anyone thinks of his political positions. Governor Cuomo’s actions amidst this pandemic are commendable.

The fact he didn’t suggest people ingest disinfectant makes him a hero.
Trump didn’t mandate Nursing Homes to admit COVID-19 residents, but Cuomo did exactly that, which directly contributed to the deaths of thousands of elderly people. Cuomo has blood on his hands. He is the grandma killer.

The governor — who himself has described nursing homes as a “feeding frenzy’’ for the deadly coronavirus — said that the facilities can’t challenge a state regulation forcing them to admit patients with the contagion.
But he insisted that nursing homes could transfer those ill with the virus to another facility if the centers lacked such things as quarantine space, proper protective equipment and staff.
Asked by a reporter at his daily briefing Sunday if there was anything contradictory about his statements, the governor replied, “No.”
“A nursing home can only provide care for a patient who they believe they can provide adequate care for,’’ Cuomo said. “If they cannot provide adequate care for a patient, they must transfer that patient.”
He said that if the nursing home can’t find another adequate facility, it should call the state Department of Health.

Trump said there is a possibility that disinfectant could help. The media falsely stated that Trump directed people to drink fish tank cleaner. I agree that this crisis could have been handled much better, and that Trump shouldn’t have gone on with praising chloroquine, he should have left that to the professionals. Also, the woman that had herself and her husband ingest fish tank cleaner “because Trump told her to”, is now being investigated for homicide against her husband. Sooooo…
