Oh and for my dls I usually don’t go over 5 reps either.
I am doing heavy singles on my 5/3/1 day though. I do just 1 rep for my 1 then keep adding weight to the bar until I can’t lift it or I get tired.
Do the prescribed reps. You’re doing enough assistance work for them anyway. It’ll still move up.
Me too on the repping out DLs. I’ve been taking a very unofficial poll in my head of people who like to rep them out and people who think it sucks balls.

lula: I think curling is only huge in the prairies. Not a lot else to do in the winter. I’d say hockey and curling are the go-to sports in the prairies for winter. Hockey is more popular, of course, but I’m a third generation curler

My knee is a little achy right now but I think that’s mostly because my quad and piriformus are a little tight. Quad definitely has some knots in it that I need to attack with the lax ball

*I soooo did not want to be at the gym today. Hormones, frustration from work, too much sugar all contributed to me wanting to hermit in my comfy apartment with a book and more junk food. But it’s fucking squat day, so I sucked it up and got my ass to the gym.

85x1+ → 10 reps. Knee felt solid through all the reps and I could have kept going but I put a limit of 10 on these. My quad is a little bound up so stretching between each of these sets was a must.
BBB Sumo DLs:

Easy peasy. It took 3 weeks but this finally feels light. Time to move it up to 115. Still weak sauce considering what some of the other girls were posting.

Crazy and bitchy story of the day:
I was resting in between sets of sumos, watching a trainer try to teach a guy how to deadlift. They were using one of the squat racks. Okay, fine. I was using one too, just had the bar set up in front of the racks. Instead of using the rack he was already in, the trainer decides he wants MINE and starts unloading my fucking bar! It’s the EXACT same squat rack he was moving from! WTF! I was sitting on a bench 3ft away and he didn’t even glance at me before he started to unload it. I felt like going off on him and asking him why the hell the rack he was in wasn’t good enough. He acted all surprised when I came up and told him I was using that bar. Soooo not impressed with that.

Nice squats and DLs. The BBB is tough, IMO-no weak sauce at all. You’ve improved your weights, that’s something to be proud of!
Oh and also? That trainer is a douche. Some people are just clueless.

Most people could use a punch in the face on an average day. Sadly, modern technology and a lack of common sense has removed the feedback that the threat of immediate and damaging retribution used to provide. I blame the internet.
That being said, nice work on the squats and especially on the pulls. Gonna be using the big boy plates for your BBB soon. Built that ass! It counterbalances the HW anyway

Didn’t really want to do anything else so I stretched and hit the steam room.
Got to watch some guys grind their shoulders doing bench wrong and with too much weight. If you can’t pull it down to your chest and push it back up and you’re not using boards, don’t do it, laddie! Anybody who knows shit about training won’t be impressed! The feet sliding around was a nice touch. facepalm
I am grossly sorry I missed that display. But at least I have pics I can scan back for now

lula: For me, they take pressure off my wrists and make me feel more secure. Makes the pressing easier because it’s one less thing I have to worry about. It’s why I wear the wrist wraps when I bench heavy, too. Less wear and tear on the body.
So many LOLs about the Irish brogue. I was going more for Scottish 
Less Scottish. More Finnish.
As for the wrist wraps, yeah I love them for OHP (especially with the false grip. Lets your arms get into a great OHP position) and for heavy bench.
Hey, I never did ask: are those wraps working out for you? I’ll be bugging the APT boys again here right away, so I’ll look into those other ones anyway but…

kilt: Eh. The difference in stretchiness is weird. I can definitely tell which one has been more loved. Even if they don’t have the baby blues in 12", I might just suck it up and get the 24" wraps.

Had to shove my bench day in with DL day because I have my massage tomorrow. I might have done accessory work if I didn’t feel like crap. Headache and sooooo tired. I was supposed to do a 75# DL and I just couldn’t do it. Way too light!
