I feel euphoric. I successfully overhead pressed today. Just the 25-lb. bar (I know, I know). But I haven’t had the strength, stability, or [perhaps most importantly] the confidence to try OHPing since my shoulder rebuild. I have to say that it went great and I feel convinced that it’s just a matter of time before I’m OHPing challenging weights. I’m going to take this very slow, though.

Yayyy!!!

awesome chins and great news on your presing

nice work and great progress!!

word!! congrats on the ohp victory!!

WTG!

That’s great news snap. Won’t be long and you’ll be 100%

Wow! Overhead pressing! This is very awesome.

I had an interesting realization today. After five years of seriously training my deadlift, I have finally successfully converted it to a leg lift rather than a back lift.

RDL
8/45
5/95

Modified Sumo DL
5/115
5/135
5/155
5/170
5/180
5/185

Wide-Stance Squat
5/45
5/85
2/5/105

Weak effort. The last rep of the second set was a grinder. And the weight is so light. I realized that sumo pulls and wide-stance squat use essentially the same muscles. And mine are pretty much done cooperating after deadlifting.

Circuit of lat pulldown, weighted hypers (ouch), and arnolds.

Crazy thought driving home from the gym that I might perhaps show up for the USAPL Colorado state meet in three weeks just to break my raw DL record. Do a token squat and token bench to save my strength for DL. And then go for the record on my second DL attempt. Current record is 214.5 lb. My thought is that I should be able to hit 220 lb. on my second attempt and then go for something more on the third. It’s been awhile since I’ve deadlifted raw in a meet.

nice training. do the meet

You absolutely should do that.

30 Pullups. Inspiring!

Do the meet
and nice work

Do the meet. I like the idea of really trying to nail the deadlift.

Crazy ideas are good.

Do the meet, break the record.

Congrats on the OHP!

Yeah, I’m thinking I’m going to do the meet. Just put in one easy squat, one easy bench, and then nail the deadlift. Realized I only have two training sessions left; not three. So I’ll do triples for the next two weeks and save the singles for the platform.

Today’s training: upper body. Volume, volume.

*Cuff stuff
*Flat bench supersetted with bentover barbell row at matching weights (light and high rep)
*Incline DB press . . . continuing to increase weight and reps
*Lying DB tricep extension
*Cable bicep curl
*Pecs on pec deck
*Crunches

And

40 chins (10 x 4). By the seventh set, I was making deals with the devil. I got them all, so I guess I’ll move to 10 x 5 next week.

DO IT.

You are sounding all fired up again !!.

Go get…

…you let me know! i will try and watch you!!

power postive attitude in here now ! First congrats on the OHP, I’ll save that one for awhile, but it’s kinda good to see how you are still progressing on adding in different lifts since surgery, you give me hope for an OHP someday.

2nd, yes do the meet, set the bar high on that DL! and glad you found the “leg” drive in the dead lift now
