It's a Snap

Westside is the best side.

Something like that.

Really? I enjoy watching and white/red lighting from the audience. When I’m competing, I don’t really pay attention to what anyone else is doing. It’s a totally different experience to just sit in the audience. I enjoy seeing everyone’s quirks. And there are lots. The little rituals people go through before they squat/press/pull.

I’ve only seen USAPL and NASA meets because that’s what’s prevalent in my area.

Yes, Westside rules, but it’s not for everyone. One of my training partners, after not progressing well after 2 years is going to try 5/3/1 her next cycle.

I agree watching a PL meet is neat, except when they run from 9-9…

In 6 weeks canada will be filled with awesome.

have you tried x band walks? or putting a microband around your knees and walking sideways? i read somewhere that one can’t activate glute medius from a seated position - and that glute medius is what is important for stabilizing the femur in the hip and for helping shove the knees out hard.

i’m thinking sumo deads would be a great hip rehab exercise for me. but they seem pretty darned complicated / technically demanding.

I hope you had fun at the meet. I’ll be at one next Sunday either reffing or fucking up the computer at the head table. I have skillz.

And limbo dancing. Ummm . . . that is what you’re doing, right?

great work snapper. Can we consider your shoulder all better now?

It’s pretty good. Gets tired quickly and is weak with certain movements. My raw bench is still down. But my shirted bench is right back up to where it was before my injury, which is to say slightly more than nothing.

Watched a NASA meet today. It was a bit disorganized. For example, there was no jack for changing the weights during DLs. Also, the spotters/loaders/refs had some difficulty translating the weight called to the plates that should be put on the bar. Seemed odd to me.

Feeling low and hoping a trip to the gym this evening might perk me up.

Snap, how long from surgery did you try to get under the bar again? On all 3 lifts…

Yep feeling better so now I want to start planning…

I hope the gym improved your mood.

Glad you are feeling better!

I had to go back and research your question. I had surgery on May 13 and got the green light from my surgeon to squat and DL on August 6. So just shy of three months.

Looks like I started benching a 25-lb. bar on September 1. So 3 1/2 months post-surgery.

I did a raw meet 6 1/2 months post-surgery.

I would guess that your schedule would be ahead of mine since I wasn’t allowed any movement of my arm for four weeks after surgery.

Hope this helps with your planning.

Today’s training:

Squat
5/50
4/75
3/100
2/110 belt
2/133
3/5/105

Standing GMs
3/8/75

RDLs
5/95
5/125
3/5/150

Reverse Hypers with DB Between Feet
3/8

Good Girl/Bad Girl
3/8/95

Wrapped my coach’s knees today for the first time. I got 'em real tight! I’m getting better at it.

Good job on the wrapping. I have yet to do anyone’s but my own.

What weight class/age group is he in?

I had never wrapped anyone’s knees either. Hardly even my own. But the guy who had the biggest squat at the last meet asked me to wrap him. And I had to admit that I really wasn’t proficient at it. Which bothered me. So I’m learning. And getting much better really fast.

My coach is a 275er. He’s 72 this year. So M4. He’s going to look for you, O, in Canada because I talked about you during our training sessions.

i’ve never tried to handle anyone before, looks like fun.

Actually, it can be quite a bit of work. And with the gear, there’s the whole issue of timing.
